Thankfully not too too taxing a day here although trying to install new printer has been a tad frustrating...hopefully though this one will work and it promises cheaper ink so fingers crossed. Last was a hp and the inks alone cost £38 a time! This one was much cheaper thank goodness. The eve is mine so have time for crochet project and to do unpicking of quilt. Virus is still hanging round so am going gently and have tried to sort it that if I am poorly Im covered...just need to get through tomorrow. Kinsey, work with teenagers and have 38 of them on my caseload! The number seems to rise daily though!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! i was thinking of getting a cat from a rescue centre, would a cat allow me to knit lol, or will it think the ball of wool is a toy, and run off with it?

Maytaurus - it's so very good to hear from you. I am sending positive thoughts to you and your family, and hope that your mum improves very soon.
Everyone - believe it or not, I am still having problems with my communcations here - this time it's the telephone. I've been trying to sort it out for most of the day! Tomorrow, I've promised myself that I will try and catch up with all that I've missed over the last few days.
Shaz - I would definitely recommend a cat. They make perfect pets!

Cats are very varied - some will dig your knitting out of a bag and attack it, some are entirely uninterested even if a ball is rolling around, some like to fight with your needles and some are a bit excitable as kittens but grow out of it.
It takes all sorts!
Well done for considering a rescue cat though. The hardest thing is having to choose when you go to the shelter because so many want love!
Lovely to hear from you May - hope that things improve for you and your family0 -

Shaz - if you were here, you'd have a choice of cats. At the last count, the pig farm nearby has three females, all pregnant, and twenty one kittens! They are all strays that seem to have decided to make the farm their home. Would have been fine but for one randy tom that lives in the house next door! They will get the females neutered once they've had their kittens - do you think you could find room in your house for about a dozen little ones?!

Spent 3 hours at A&E with my elderly SiL today, forgot to take any sissors so my 6" squares turned into a cat blanket and then I ran out of wool0

Hi everyone -
Anakat - I did that once when I was on the ferry from France to the UK! Now I keep a small pair of folding scissors in my handbag!
Maytaurus - thinking of you and your mum.
Well, I still haven't caught up with things on here yet. Yesterday I bought a new phone to replace one that got damaged by the lightning strike. I tried it as soon as I got home and couldn't get a dialling tone, nor would it pick up and answer when I dialled it from my mobile. I asked my neighbour if he could try it in his house, and it wouldn't work there, either, so now I have to take it back to the store. I keep trying to get a day here when I don't have to run any errands or wait for someone to come and fix something! I wasted most of last week on this lightning problem - it caused so much damage to so many things and it's been really difficult sorting it all out, mainly because the French don't think anything's important, apart from their lunch hour (hours - there's two of them!), of course!
French contents insurance is a complete joke - from what our agent said, we have to replace out of our own pocket everything that has been damaged, then put in a claim, then wait for them to deduct the excess plus 10% off for each year of age of the old items, then wait and see what they give us back! For various reasons, I don't want to replace anything we've lost with a French version; I also don't see why we should have to fork out for anything without knowing how much the insurance will pay us back and, even if we did, the member of staff at the insurance office that does the actual calculating is off on holiday for the whole of August! How's that for complete efficiency?! I have no idea what we've been paying premiums for; I suppose if the house burns down, we have to pay to build another one before they deal with the claim! As the house is 400 years old, just think of all those 10 per cents that can be knocked off the final payment! Jean, why is nothing here even remotely logical?
Well, there's always something causing a hassle. I haven't crocheted for days now and it feels as if I may never do so again! It doesn't help that the TV we lost is the one we had in the living room, which is where the sofas are. We have a small TV in the kitchen but I've never been able to crochet sitting at a table!
Oh, well, sorry for the rant but thanks for letting me!
I'll try and get the update done today.
