morning all, sunday mornings seem so quiet on my own, tea all ready prepared in slow cooker, washing done, been up in loft, and had a bit of a tidy up, and counted over 200 balls of sock wool
dare not count the rest, it would be into the thousands lol
off to get dressed, then get my knitting out
hugs all

Blimey!!! I know you said yesterday that you didn't need any more wool...but 200 balls of sock stuff is nuts!!!! And I can't help wondering what sort of yarn the rest is?!
Have now looked at my stash (in it's various places, down the side of the sofa, in the bedroom and a little bit in bags in the loft) and come to the conclusion that I have nowhere near enough and obviously NEED to rescue some more!! DH is against this plan, however. So I guess I need to concentrate on using more up, then I can have a proper look and sort it all out properly.
Wanted to say had a fab time with Sharon yesterday; wool coffee cream scones wool and lunch -- really enjoyed it and hope to do it again soon. Shame about the blue aran, but I've checked online and the cheapest I could find the same was at £9.89 plus p&p, so I guess the £7.99 was a bargain really. Anyway, at least we didn't have to leave one ball siblingless as it were!
well, have now got the suitcases from the loft so best start packing clothes or else will be rushing about tomorrow which I really don't want to do.. also need to decide on what needle/hook stuff to take with me to do whilst on the beach, in the tent on an evening etc. Really not too sure.
Will pop back laters...

Hi everyone - I'm back at last!
I know Chalky is across the pond at the moment but, if you're reading this, Chalky, many thanks for letting everyone know what had happened to me. I'm so glad I had your mobile number so that I could text you! Hope your trip is going well!
What a week we've had here. The house took a direct hit from a massive bolt of lightning last Tuesday; it was so big and loud that it hurt our eardrums! It took out one television, two satellite receivers and the LNB on our satellite dish, one internet phone and, worst of all, my internet! After several calls to the Orange helpline and France Telecom, and appointments made by technicians who didn't turn up, I finally ended up with a brand new Livebox (a newer version that is meant to be much more reliable); but it wasn't just the Livebox that had gone, the network card in my computer had, also. A friend recommended a wonderful English chap who came out this afternoon and was able to fix the problem within the hour, by taking the network card out of my old PC and putting it into the current one. (I'm so pleased I kept the old one!). All in all, it cost €80 which is fantastic - I was expecting it to be a lot more than that!
Another friend has lent us an LNB and a satellite receiver so we now have one television working so we feel as if we are back in the real world again!
I hope you are all keeping well. I haven't caught up with the thread because I've been busy letting people know that I am back online, but I will catch up with you all later today or tomorrow.
It's great to be back! I've really missed you all!

kathy - I really hope you were both ok after the house took a hit - what an upheaval with all the electrical things though - take care - its great to see you back - we've missed you xxx
isom - are you sure you are ok? - we've missed you last week - you didnt sound yourself in your last post (hope you dont mind me saying!) - hope youve had lovely snoozes and caught up some energy! xxx
well i have a new little addiction - small gowns - finished my second one this morning - now dont laugh but my dear elderly ex-neighbour sent me my christmas present yesterday! - it was wool - she has been to Poundstretcher and brought some Baby Splash (she brought a few bags and split it between us)- oh its lovely white with different coloured flecks in each ball - and its soooooo soft - I think she was worried i wouldnt use it so have made a gown and matching hat for her to take to her local hospital when she takes her bits she makes - I feel so sorry for her she cant make as much anymore due to terrible arthritis in both her hands and wrists
DOH is asleep on sofa - DS is singing away in his room talking to a friend online - me I had better finish the hat off
Love to all and hope you have had a nice weekend xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Shaz -
I think our next trip needs to involve a visit to said friend at local market and a look-see at your stash!!!
I know I have various bits of alpaca, bamboo, cotton etc as well as the usual suspects in amongst, but it's so confused I think a bit sortout is needed, but I would need a week Dh and littlie free....maybe they can go off to Devon and I can stay here?!
Littlies packing done, need to do mine yet!
Dawn xx:hello:0 -
Evening all!
SK With all that sock wool stash - have you considered setting up a hand knitted sock business somewhere like Etsy or Folksy?
Glad to hear that you Internet probs got sorted Mioliere - did the house itself sustain any damage? It all sounds quite frightening!
F1Widow I remember Towcester! Well, sort of. We used to stop for post match chips there on the way back from swimming matches at Milton Keynes. Before I saw the roadsign I thought that it was Toaster!
4 emergency squares
ISOM Hope you are ok - texted earlier but know you are busy on a Sunday. Not ignoring your email but only got to read it today. Hope that work isn't getting too much for you.0
