Off to see if there is anything worth the watching on the telly - bet there isn't
Later lovelies, F1 you are correct I am a sausage and just adore variegated wools - not just cos they sell it cheap at Lidl in France either - it makes fantastic socks!

Thanks, everyone. We'd had lots of thunder at the time but we didn't see any lightning at all. The bang as it hit the house almost perforated our eardrums! Later, talking to Mr Pig the farmer, he said he was feeding his animals at the time and saw one huge lightning strike hit something - he's about five miles from us - and that 'something' must have been us! Anyway, we are both fine, and the house is still standing, thankfully.

Jean - thanks for the offer. I can't remember offhand where I left off on the last update; it's on my office calendar but we've moved everything round while we've been trying various ways to get back online, so the office is in chaos at the moment. It shouldn't take too long to sort it out, so I should be able to get it done tomorrow but will ask you if I don't get round to it. Thanks, again. We have a huge earthing thingy in the floor here - we had it put in before we laid all the concrete floors - so, although I don't really understand these things, I assume that is what prevented further damage. We've been advised that the most important thing to do in a thunderstorm here is to take the phone out of the main socket. I've always neurotically unplugged the Livebox, but never thought to take out the phone as well. I've learned the hard way now! The insurance here is a joke, isn't it? That's a challenge for another day! I hope you're feeling better these days?
