just back from a session with personal trainer at the gym, why does exercise make me hungry?
lucky for me i remember to put somet nice in slow cooker this morn, to turkey thighs with veg, and jacket spud, will also put some in a container for another day, as no hungry lads to finish it off then a nice soak in bath later, followed by relaxation with wool and needles or hook
afriend is about to become a granny, two of her daughters are expecting at the same time, neither know the flavour, so no blue or pink, but lots white, lemon, and mint green
    hugs all

... hello. I'm a newbie. Just signed today. What is this knitting circle and do booties count? Even though I have to knit 3 as they always come out as different sizes...

OK - currently halfway through a pair of socks (done one sock!) these are a comfort gift pair for my OH Mum. Sadly his younger brother died last month so I'm knitting her these to cheer her up and to let her know I'm thinking of her. I can get a sock done in a week or 2 (I can do the 3 needle or 2 circ's method) so let me know what needs doing and when.

hi notatvstar, and welcome to the thread, as mrs m pointed out, every item counts. knit whatever you like to do, there will be somebody who needs that item.

Hi everyone and welcome notatvstar, hope you enjoy being here. If you have any questions just shout out, someone will be along to help.

Kathy - you really do need a giant pair of scissors to cut through all that red tape, it`s enough to strangle you.

Chalky - your SIL hasn`t missed much here. We did have a couple of sunny days midweek but not enough to get overly excited about.

Shaz - I`m doing white, lemon and mint green too ! Hopefully will get finished over the weekend and if I can find camera and cable I`ll be a little show off...if I can get the pic on here :o

ISOM - well done on the weight loss but I hope you feel a bit better with some food inside you. Headache gone ?

Jean - you`re very quiet. Hope you are OK and visitors aren`t tiring you out.

Well, back to normal here. Been back at work for a week and feeling much better now. Meds seem to have sorted things out so hope that`s all the problems fixed, for a while anyway.

Had a bit of excitement today. While we were out in the garden the Red Arrows flew right over us. DD and little J saw the first one but didn`t realise it was the arrows till I pointed out the rest coming over. One even waggled his wings as he went over us. :rotfl:They were performing at a display further up the coast so DD asked if we could go and see them coming back in to Aberdeen. They flew over the airport in formation and did a mini smoke display before flying back round and landing. I love to see them and am always amazed at their precision, great stuff.

Off to crack on with the crochet. Cue for the Andy Williams song.... Almost there, we`re almost there.............I know, I`m showing my age:eek: but in my head I`m only 25ish.

Night to one and all with big hugs for those who need them.

Hi everyone - lovely and sunny here, too, Chalky! Hope it lasts, eh?!

Notatvstar - a warm welcome to you! We hope you like it here! For more info, please read page 95 of this thread, post 1885, and please ask any questions - we are all really helpful!

Jean - I echo Chalky's thoughts; hope you are OK?

PSSO - I have a bottle of champagne at the ready to celebrate when all the red tape has been sorted! Currently, I am waiting on three things from government departments, and one thing from our private health insurance top-up. It's something you have to have which pays out what the French health system doesn't cover. You have to pay for everything medical here; the Government gives you some of it back, and the private health pays the rest of it, or some of the rest of it! This time, the Government bit is really efficient; it's the private side that isn't, and I am chasing them up now! I've learned so much since we moved here that I've been able to offer advice on a local ex-pat forum, and have got results for other people!

Well, tonight we are off to the farm for a meal with the lovely people who run it (they call themselves Mr and Mrs Pig, but they certainly aren't pig-like!) Their son and his family have moved out to help them keep the farm going, and it looks as though it has a real future now, so I shall be really interested to see how things are going. The DIL is a trained beauty therapist and they've built her a studio so that she can work from home, doing nails, eyebrows, and so on. Mr Pig was telling us when he popped in yesterday - he made me laugh because he doesn't really understand 'this female stuff' as he put it!

Anyway, this morning I'm baking - bread, DH's Saturday cake, and some shortbread to take over to the farm as a gift, along with a bottle of wine, and a bouquet of the beautiful hydrangeas we have here; they're looking lovely this year and just three to five blooms makes a really sumptuous looking bouquet. This afternoon I really must tackle my WIPs - I have about three carrier bags of them that need dealing with, and it's starting to really irritate me now! I shall also have a snooze because there'll be a few Vino Collapsios consumed this evening, no doubt.

    Have a great day, everyone.

Well that early start certainly has done the trick!
I have managed to complete the second Kiss the Geezers blanket. And thanks to some lovely squares arriving it is looking brilliant. I will pop some pictures on soon so that everyone can share the loveliness. I will do that once it has been delivered to its secret destination. I hope they feel like either giving the " Geezer a big hug or a kiss."
Talking of which I must take mine a cup of tea!
Kathy I hope you have a brilliant day and even better evening. I was thinking of you this morning when I woke just after five-- You seem to be sleeping a little better these days-- All that red tape must be exhausting you.

Lots of love to one and all xx
