F1 Lou will gladly find homes for all items dk is the most popular to knit in for most of us but lou prefers to knit herself in 4 ply, she teases that she wil set challenges in 4ply just to get people going, what she meant i think was that she doesnt personally knit those patterns as she uses finer wool. send them to her and she will pass them on gladly to hospitals and SCBU. your knitted items are NOT useless they will bring much comfort and help to someone when they are passed on.
ive just knitted a bunting in wool but im not happy with it it just seems a bit scratchy i dont know what to do with that, advice oplease would washing in soapflakes help or should i pull it back and convert it into something else?
just a suggestion As Shelly doesnt want to be part of this group anymore maybe it would be better if PreemiesUK had a seperate thread on MSE somewhere for Shelly to post parcel shouts and wants. People who want to knit for both this thread and that can pop in either. I dont want anyone to feel they have to stop posting beause of what happened that happened last time when orkneystar felt she couldnt stay she is still missed and i hope she will one day come back
i love this thread exactly because we care about each other and are interested in what is happening. its not just about knitting for good causes its about being there for each other, im sure if we dont dwell on what as happened it will soon pass and we will be on a happy and even keel once againSPC~12 ot 124

Jacqui - I've only ever sent DK things to LH and I'm sure that most of us do. I think Lou just prefers to knit in 4-ply, so that's why she mentioned it. Please don't let it stop you sending things to her. If you look at the donations on LH, you'll see just from looking at them that most of them are DK. The upset with Shelley is just one of those things, I'm afraid, but there are other charities that take baby things
The last two links mention Bonnie Babes, but when I looked on their site, they said they were closing on 15th July, which was last Friday but, as far as I know, all the others are still up and running. PM Roamin about your pattern. She has made sure that the two I put on Preemies UK are mine, and I've said that they can remain in the LH Pattern Collection and can be freely used.
Please don't be disheartened when there's an upset in the group. It's happened before and, because we don't focus on it too much, it passes and things are very soon back to their normal friendly and loving way. As for the ironing, I'd do it for you if I could because I know how it can seem overwhelming at times. When it does, I just set myself a target - I set my oven timer for, say, fifteen or thirty minutes and just iron until it beeps, then stop. At least that way some of it gets done but it doesn't seem like such a huge chore.
I hope you have a good day today and, don't forget, we are all here for you, albeit virtually.
KathyXX
Hi Kathy,
Could you please tell me where you seen on the Bonnie Babies site that it was closing down on 15 th july ?
I am a moderator on Bonnie Babies and have been through the public site and cannot see it.
Bonnie Babies have recently changed the address for parcels to be sent to and think that that's maybe where the mix-up is....there was a cut-off date to send to old address.
The new address is now up and running and can be found on the home page for anyone who sends to Bonnie Babies.
Thanks,
Josie M0 -
Hello all - thanks for your kind support so far - have also had a lovely message from member of LH
Im sorry I was over sensitive this morning - but it was either getting it off my chest or the bit of mad sorting and a few rows of a pull on hat that have made the cloud lift a little - I know for definate that your support has boosted moral as well
So enough said I will brush myself down and get back on with the task in hand - helping others (and using some of that huge stash of mine :rotfl:) but I will say I still dont think I have a lot :rotfl::D:rotfl:and could always do with more
Love to all xxx and THANK YOU xxxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Afternoon all,
Chalky - your SIL isn`t missing anything at home. It`s wet and miserable here in Aberdeen too. Wouldn`t mind a Devon cream tea please. My mouth is watering at the thought, yummy.
f1 widow - well done on getting to the sports day and all your cycling. Keep it up. Don`t worry about your DK knitting, most of mine is dk or thicker and Lou has never returned any of it. I think most of what is donated is dk as very few people seem to like using finer yarn - Lou is definitely in a minority there. I think Shelley did say the other day that she will be happy to receive donations from anyone here, it`s all for the poor wee babies whichever group it is sent to.
Kathy - I`ve just been on the Bonnie Babies site and can`t see any mention of it closing ? Have just had a look through some of the patterns again and guess what ? I`ve had to put another couple on my `to do` list , so it`s even longer now.
Mrs moneypenny - hugs for you. Losing a much loved pet is very hard.
Socky - Hope things are going well for all of you. It will be so different, each of you having your own space. Might take a bit of getting used to but the boys might just appreciate how much you did for them, now that you aren`t there all the time.
Off to do a bit more hooking - I`m slowly getting there but don`t hold your breath waiting for the `ta da`moment. I think at this rate mrs Twins will have done her 100th blanket by the time I`m finished my project !!
Have a good day and I hope it`s a bit drier wherever you are.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

shelley - have round looms and found also that it appears a bit "holey" - I have tried the 2 over 1 method or 2 over 2 method - ie e-wrap round the loom 4 times - take the bottom 2 over the top 1 or 2 (whichever you decide) and then on the next round e-wrap either 1x or 2x depending on which you are going for
Also with this method it may be ok to use just 1 strand of DK - have a play and see
this solved the "holey" problem for me - ive seen that there are lots of different stitches you can do as well ie purl etc but have not tried them yet
I hope this makes senseDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -

Hi Josie and A7slush -
I am so so sorry but I was looking at a 'Bonnie Babies' charity site in Australia. It was the first one that came up when I googled. I am so sorry to have made such a silly mistake! I really should have checked properly.
For everyone else - here is the UK Bonnie Babies which is very much up and running http://www.bonniebabies.co.uk/
