    Here I am again!

I've done the update, which can be found by clicking into my name at the side of this post, then going to my 'homepage'. Please let me know if there are any mistakes! Jean, I had to add 'sleeping bags' and, when I checked, it had magically added the category to everyone's name - I am so impressed! Thanks for making the spready so easy to use!

Elaine - we put all baby hats (whether full-term, preemie, and so on) together on the spreadsheet to save space, and the same with the blankets. I hope that's OK? Your totals are amazing; well done!

Thanks to you all for your hard work. Please all take a gold star along with a hug! I'm now off to have a cuppa and perhaps a slice of banana bread - medicinal, of course, for my back!

Evening ladies - everyone "seems" good today - I hope this to be true

jean - hope you are doing ok - alright I promise I wont post a picture of laundry - ashamed would be an understatement - my utility bit is next to DOH's "man room" and the ironing bags and basket are right by the door and he has said it would be a tsunami if that fell over! - big hugs xxx

kathy - yes eye watering weight it was - she had a c section in end as labour stopped completely - which in a way was lucky cos i wouldnt want to squeeze 11lb 2 out! - all are well"ish" thank you - few hiccups but my sister is lapping up being a mum which is lovely xxx

isom - oh love - I read what you said about finding a man and felt a pang of sadness - big hugs and no fighting over men now with seakay! xxx oh and spinning is great by the way forgot to say the other day

chalky - stuninng blanket - beautiful colours - you really are so clever and if you are in bonkers land lord alone knows where i am! xxx

I meant to say the other day - someone posted a beautiful blue teddy and blanket set and now my brain cant remember who it was but just to say well done its lovely!

Well love and hugs to all - doh on lates last night and tonight so off to sit on my own with TV and mug of tea and needles of course - bliss - did anyone see "Enid" the other night recorded it and watched last night - dramatisation about Enid Blyton - it was really good - think it was on BBC4 so may be on iplayer(?) - would thoroughly recommend it - night night all xxxx

evening all! Thanks for assistance re project seakwy...will have a look when less addled for next time...meanwhile I went and got bigger needles and added some stitches and it looks ok (she says!!)...
wondered whether it would be worth a tweak of the spare squares club thingy...feel free to tell me to bogof!! My idea, instead of saving squares could we not have a charity of the month and all send squares to x,y or z? Im a wee bit worried about lovely delicious blanket making squares sitting waiting...sad and lonely in their lovely comfort making abilities...just waiting...sadly; a bit like before we took on daring rescue missions to deliver them from shops where they were sad and lonely. Would just hate to bring them trauma plus feel sure (knowing their makers) that they would be so happy bringing comfort rather than waiting, frustrated?!! If people decide to do this maybe the person who had most totals the previous month could select the charity as a reward (mind you counts me out as mine are always rubbish lol!!) ...just an idea....
Anyway; lovely big box of 113 squares went off to Japan charity today. The organiser was so lovely in her emails to me and she was genuinely delighted with a whole box which was great and made me feel all lovely...even though I only did 12!!
Roaming hope youre ok...gently doing it; likewise Mrs M...are the works finished at the house yet!!
Right girls...has a particularly frustrating and very long (8-9!!) day at work so am off to bury myself under my lovely duvet and cuddle the cat. Tomorrow is a new day and am thankful of that! Did make a positive difference to one at least!

Hello all, everyone must be very busy, it`s quiet here today.

Almost finished with my marathon clear out. Eaves cupboard emptied and `stuff to be kept for a while longer` is now in DS`s former bedroom. He`s supposed to be coming to empty the loft tonight so should be all ready for the loft/eaves insulation going in at the beginning of the week.:T

Crochet blanket half finished - have overcome the problem of obvious slanting by doing it all one colour, it`s a random white/pale pink/deep pink/turquoise mix which DD chose for me at the knitting show the other weekend. Not sure if I really like it myself but it`ll be used for something.

Came across a couple of crochet booklets in MiL`s case full of patterns which I `inherited` so have been studying them for inspiration. Knitting has taken a bit of a back seat for the moment but I have a couple of things on the needles so will have to get back and finish them or they`ll still be there this time next year.
    :o
It`s the butterfly syndrome again. I take a fancy to something be it a pattern or colour of wool and just HAVE to go and start it. Do most of it ---then spot something else and away we go again --and land up with lots of ufo`s, sorry that should be WIP`s.;)

Oh to be disciplined enough to finish one thing completely before starting the next.

Off shopping, shame we have to eat.

Have a good day all. Hugs to anyone who needs one.

    Afternoon all
Had a lovely time down in Devon, we managed to get the awning up and OH took the small front window out and sealed it, good job too we had an horrendous storm on Saturday night, but Sunday was bright and sunny and we had a good journey back

We were at the QE yesterday for OH's appointment with the consultant. They want him to have more tests an MRI and a cat scan...whatever that is...

jean - glad you are home now take it easy, my friend had the same op some years ago and was told not to drive for a while, however good you feel let the healing process do its work :A You are right about the washing/ironing luckily the weather was kind when we got back, all I need to do now is the dreaded ironing...my favourite job that...NOT
chalky - What a good idea can you put me down for the emergency squares please...I have some snakes and purses to be posted for aunty but havent managed to get them in the post yet:o Love the ripple blanket,
f1 - congratulations on your new 'arrivals'...but ouch 11 lb-2oz thats one big baby
kathy - hope your back is a little easier now

socky your inbox is full lovely!
Evening all! Yipee got a few days off ...now to Tues so hurrah! Taking goddaugher to Gatwick on Fri but other than that nice weekend of not much planned. Will skip spinning on sat for craft club where theyre doing felted flowers!
Busy knitting the shrug for cousin and determined to finish some project as the WIPS are building up a bit too much! Will keep doing some squares in between!
Pippa a CAT scan is the one that shoes "slices" of the areas scanned in detail so that with the MRI will give a clear picture of any abnormalities and exactly where they are so that they can treat as necessary. :) scary for you both but will hopefully give you some answers...must conquer ripple blankets next...
Seakay how you feeling? You might enjoy sat am 10-12 in same venue (can give lift!) as knitting and a nice bunch of people...my friend E is sooo lovely, would love for you to meet her!
roaming hope youre beening a good girl and resting? Would you like my duvet btw? ?Happy to post to you over there as a contribution to dresses! Hate for it to go to waste! Navy blue with yellow fine lines flowers...double duvet and 3 pillow cases. Pm me if ya want it!
As for ironing piles...yuck! Thankfully mum does ours so am making the best of that as loathe ironing!

    Hi everyone

Shaz - hope some good stuff happens soon; you deserve it.

Pippa - welcome back! I'm glad you had a good time. I hope DH's tests and scans go well.

Jean - hope you're not trying to do too much, and that you are healing well.

Elaine - you'v reminded me about all my WIPs! I really must do something about them. I hope you got the loft emptied?

ISOM - the farm is still there but they are definitely winding it down. They are finding it hard to sell their remaining pigs and, of course, they are all growing and eating more (very expensive) feed. We can still buy produce there but that will gradually grind to a halt, sadly. The red tape has got so ridiculous that, along with the high costs involved, it's just not economically viable to keep going. They'd have to charge such high prices for the meat, delicious as it is, that they'd lose customers - everyone is having to pull in their belts these days, and I don't think France is any better off than the UK. The owners will stay where they are and, with 11 acres, they are determined to make something of their property so...watch this space!

Well, another little piece of red tape has fallen into place here, and we are on the way to sorting out the next piece, and that depends on how lively the 'functionnaires' (sp?) are at dealing with it. There are layers and layers of administration here to do what just one layer would achieve in the UK; it is very hard to remain patient and calm, but there's absolutely nothing you can do to make the French actually work at anything other than a snail's pace. Heaven only knows how they would cope in a real emergency - especially if that emergency happened at any time between 12 noon and 2pm; that two-hour lunch is sacrosanct!

Anyway, rant over! I am off to the holiday home today to prep for guests who are arriving tomorrow for two weeks. It's the first booking of the year; I'm not sure how booked up they are for the year, but most gites around here are finding that their bookings are down, so we shall see.

No crocheting done yesterday - I spent the morning taking my shower screen apart to give it a good clean; it's such an impractical design and the only way of cleaning all the glass properly on both sides is to take two of the doors off. I then had to wait for DH to screw them back on for me! The afternoon was spent sorting out the red tape, so that was the day gone. I shall try and take some time out this afternoon.

    Anyway, off for a cuppa.

  • Kathy, I have a whole folder of STUFF TO SORTOUT after the visit to the hospital and believe me the prospect is daunting, BUT I will get to it - just as soon as I can get up the stairs to the big pooter and all the filing! Yes they employ 4 folk to do the job of one, that's also one of the reasons they have previously had low unemployment as well as the jobs for life deal although I see a shift in that attitude these days, sorry it is taking so long for you to work out your health care. Just for info - we have paid monthly assurance for hospital cover for over 11 years......only to find that when I went into hospital...they will ONLY pay out after FOUR continuous days in the hospital......what a total waste of money. I am now drafting a letter to send cancelling said policies....and making sure I get them to sign for receipt of same! To see we are angry is an understatement!
ISOM - will pm you addy for the duvet - thank you so much, you are such a sweetheart
off for a coffee, back a bit later

Good morning one and all and lots of love tucked in xx

PSSO -- We cleared our loft 2 years ago - Like yours a mammoth task but guess what we have never missed 1 thing!!! So glad you are loving crochet.
Pippa- It's raining this morning so bglad you have window sealed on the van :) Thinking of you both as you have to face more scans.
Kathy-- I hope your back is feeling much easier now. Take it easy as you start to get back into gear!Sorry to hear about the farm
ISOM -- Have a lovely weekend and, YES thank you we are enjoying our UK time especially catching up with the family!
Shaz -- Big hugs -- Please try and keep your chin up - This time too -- will pass. Big Hugs x

I spent a lot of time thinking about KYSTGYSES -- Emergency squares yesterday.( Roamin the only name I can get is " Kiss the Geesers!")
I think this thread is so lovely in the sense that we seem able to "talk" about everything so I am glad ISOM posted. I am actually quite happy to change anything but I really wanted it to be an exercise partly to get our lovely ladies involved in a joint project.

I always love it when Kathy reassures everyone that 1 hat/square/item is as important as 100. The non-competitive nature suits us all so well. I for 1 mix my charity work with " Bonkers" work all the time. So, having a tally a month may move us away from what I feel is a really important part of our way of operating. I don't mind the fact that the squares are waiting so that the response is immediate from us. I also really want anyone to "shout" when they see a need and the individual person only send their squares if it is a charity they are happy to support-- after all we all have causes close to our own hearts.

Please chip in with a " tuppenceworth !" if you want to and thanks again ISOM posting.
