Chalky - count me in, definitely. I think it's a great idea; squares are so useful for the good causes (and, heaven knows, there are so many), and a great way of using up oddments. They are quick and rewarding to do, too. Clever girl for thinking of it.
PSSO - sounds like you've had a very busy few days; I hope you're finding time to wind down!
Have a good evening, everyone. Thoughts are with you all.

Think the idea is great chalky can count me in - do my existing 5 squares count!!
Psso wish I was closer so could give a crochet lesson...do have a look at attic 24 who has some tutorials...the japan charity want single squares (not made up blankets as she has people whose contribution is the sewing up) so thats a good way to start. Crochet isnt meant to be perfect and because of the way it works if you look too closely you will see its a wee bit wonky! This video on utibe may help - its what worked for me anyway as nice and slow!!

Now then, I tried to post this twice last night and managed twice to close my window by accident before I finished. So it's not Chalky that's bonkers, it's me!
Anyway, third time lucky.
I think its a great idea so count me in for the KYSTGYSE.
In fact I've already got a few squares that I made a while back when I first read about 'Crochet a Rainbow'. However I never sent them off, for the following reasons: I waited over six weeks and sent a chasing email before I was sent the address to send to in Australia. Also, despite having all these squares flooding in, there were never any updates to the website, nor picture of any blankets shown. Somehow it didn't feel right to me, although I'm sure it was a genuine project and they were just overwhelmed with stuff sent in. But I think it's a courtesy to contributors to acknowledge their donations in some way.
Contrast that to the effort that Mrs Twins puts in to showing all the squares she receieves and all the blankets she makes. She's a real star, as it must take her considerable time to do this in addition to all the work she puts in making up the blankets for SIBOL.
Talking of stars, I think Chalky should also get a gold star award, for her inspiring ideas and contribution to this thread and for her wonderful generosity. This week a HUGE parcel arrived in the post for me, full of crocheted woolly stuff for OCC, Operation Christmas Child.
In it were:
Purses - 38
Bracelets - 12
Headbands - 6
Teddies - 5
Snakes - 42.

Wow! Thank you so much Chalky for this lovely parcel, which will put so many happy smiles on children's faces when they receive them in their shoeboxes. And I think you need to review the totals in your signature sometime, although you make so much stuff that I guess it's hard to keep a tally!
Love to everyone, and have a nice day.
Whew, I think I've managed to get to the end of this without deleting it!

Good Morning everybody and lots of love to all. Thank you for all those who have decided to join in the bit of fun. What a lovely thought that if one of our lovely members finds a cause that needs support we shall be able to act really quickly with a ready made supply of 6" Squares. Of course everyone will want to choose what they support but in general the causes are such excellent ones that a little bit of woolly goodness goes a long way.
Been thinking about Seraphim -- I hope you will be able and pop back and join us one day soon x
Kathy can we have a column in the totals page --?
Puppetlady-- You are so very welcome -- I love crafting in Spain and OCC is such a good cause.
