Morning all
Not very warm here today, dull too, no rain though so thats good.
Thank you for your kind thoughts for OH it's so nice of youl, but then I always knew this was the friendliest and most thoughtful thread on here :A
He is outside kreosoting(sp)? the fence, keeping himself busy really.
Mothering Sunday was a sad day as it was the first one since MIL died last September so things were a bit subdued.
We are off down to Dorset on Friday for a few days with OH's brother and wife. To see his Aunt, havent seen her for a couple of years now so looking forward to it.
I am still crocheting granny squares its amazing how many bits are disappearing and how much room I havethats the best with squares even the tiny balls can be used.

Well done anakat - you've found the perfect solution! :j Your clown is lovely. Is there a pattern for these somewhere?
Expecting the chimney sweep later today, so might have some clearing up to do. I've never had this done before, so I'm not sure how much mess they make.0 -

I have never seen a pattern for them, I first saw one about 30years ago, hanging in a car in France, so the expats.there might find one.
I had a good look to see how it was made and had a go when I got home, and have been making them ever since.
I've had a google and a look on Ravery but can't see anything the same. So I have had a go at writting out how to make them. Never written a patt. before so I hope it is understandable. If anyone has a go and gets stuck i am happy to try to help.
Curly Clown
Arms and Body
Make a chain 21 sts
Turn, 1 dbl c in each chain st (20)

Turn, 2 dbl c in each dbl c (80)
Then 1row in reverse/backward crochet
Legs
As arms but start with 31 chain
Head
6 dbl crochet into “magic loop”
Sl st to make circle
2ch for 1st st 2 dbl c into each dbl c sl st to join
2ch for 1st st 2 dbl c into each dbl c sl st to join
Next round 2 dbl c 1 dbl c sl sts to join
Make another the same and join by c round the edge
Hat
I ran a row of running sts across the head in contrast yarn
And used that to pick up sts for the hat and did rounds of dbl c till it looked about right.
Using the tail from the cast on chain, knot tog arms and body and st to head
do the same with the legs and st to body.0 -
Afternoon all, hope you are fine and dandy.
Jean - Good to see you`ve shared your flu bugs with DH, no need to be selfishI suppose he`ll have it even worse than you did though ?? The poor lads always seem to get it really badly don`t they ??
Nice to see some more newbies around, the more the merrier and it means more help for unfortunate folks too.
Shaz - sorry to hear your folks have been burgled. Good to see that they`ve had some help though. Hope they catch the bugg lers who did it and get their things back.
Anakat - your clown is super - well done for overcoming the stuffing problem too.
Puppetlady - hope you have a nice clean chimney now and not too much mess. Sweeps nowadays don`t really make a lot of mess, they`ve usually got the hoover strategically placed to deal with the soot I understand. Not that I know from first hand experience, my DH used to do it and now he`s gone my oldest DS did it for me last winter. no point in keeping a dog and barking yourself is there ? And very MSE too into the bargain. :rotfl:
Had some sunshine here too Kathy but a very blustery wind along with it, but it was very nice in the greenhouse. Bought some Iris plants from lidl at the weekend and I was given a couple of small aluminium buckets with compost and seeds for one of my Mothering Sunday gifts so they are now sitting alongside the trays of pansy seedlings, sweet peas, nasturtiums and lavender. Just wondering what I could put in the very large planter beside my sun lounger in the greenhouse now. It used to hold a grapevine but sadly the frost killed it off this past winter and I can`t decide what to put in its place.
Wooly wise - granny squares rule :T I am really getting into this now and have done a dozen squares now, soon have enough for a blanket as the squares are about 9 inches. Using up lots of bits and pieces too. The cardigan I started for myself has taken a back seat for the momentalthough it nearly came a cropper the other night.
I was babysitting on Saturday night, went to get Little J`s bedtime bottle of milk and he decided he would investigate and see what was in the bag by Grandma`s chair. When I came back through he had wool all round his arms and hands and the piece of knitting was lying on the floor. Fortunately he didn`t have hold of the needles
Ah well, the joys of having a littlie around.
Suppose I`d better go and see what I can rustle up for tea tonight, look out freezer, here I come.

Maytaurus that's just your imagination!
Shaz the gym sounds like a good idea for the boys, get rid of excess energy, but obviously you need that tme to knit
Hoping to get some work done in the garden today, forecast is good. Trouble is it will have to look worse before it looks better. Also the stray cat, who is looking very sleek and plump, will want to help.0
