    Hi Anne,
I have a pattern for a knitted snake on my blog, Sorry I can't post a link here as I'm a newbie but if you go to my homepage (click on my name and you'll see 'visit puppetlady's homepage'), you'll see it on my sidebar. It requires the use of double pointed or circular needles. I usually use quite thick wool and large needles, but you could make them smaller if you only have smaller needles.

Like Chalkey's crochet snakes, they can become addictive!

Have a lovely time in Dorset - one of my favourite parts of the country!

Thanks for the birthday wishes for little J. Doesn`t seem like a year since he arrived, time has really flown past.

He enjoyed a piece of his first cake today and he`ll be having another one on Saturday when his cousins, aunties and uncles appear. (Well the ones who can be bothered that is, but that`s a different story) you can choose your friends but not your relations and all that.;)

I had an extra piece Jean, especially for you. Mmmmm, it was even tastier than my own bit.

Back tomorrow when I can spare 5 minutes.

    Elaine.

morning all, hope everyone is ok, nice and sunny here, in my part of yorkshire for a change
decided to go to the gym last night, after talking to a personal trainer who said he would help me work out and build up my fitness levels gradually. well, after the hour was up i could barely walk lol, and the tops of my legs are killing me, hope it wears off by tommorrow, as i have booked another session with him. maybe i will get fit and slimmer for summer???
i have been asked to knit a pair of socks for a friends daughter, perfect excuse to go and stroke, and squeeze a few balls, and maybe rescue them from the shop and take them to a nice loving home :rotfl::rotfl:
    hugs all

hi f1, i know how u feel about going out, and i know its difficult for you, but if u can manage to even just get into the garden for a sit in the sun for ten mins makes my depression easier to deal with.
got some lovely sock wool, in king cole, its the one thats blue fair isle, and also treated myself to some pink baby wol, dont really need it, but it was a lovely shade and it had my name on it lol
does anybody know how long a size 5 foot is pleae? sock patterns dont have lengths as such as all feet are different, hope someone can help

As you say, Shaz, all feet are different. I'm somewhere between a 4.5 and a 5 and my foot is 9.5 inches or 24 cm. According to a chart I found from the shoe manufacturer Bata http://www.bata.com/documents/pdf/size_chart_printable.pdf, english size 5 is about 10.5 inches or 25 cm.

I guess the width of the foot also comes into it - if you have wide feet, the sock will stretch widthways and therefore you probably need a bit more length than for a narrow foot. I've got very narrow feet, and have trouble finding socks that don't slip about on my foot, which is uncomfortable.

I don't think this really answers your question that well, but hope it helps a bit!

    Have a lovely weekend

    Janet x
