    Hi everyone

Pippa - you must think I do it on purpose, mustn't you? I am sorry and will go back in and correct your hats!

Mrs Moneypenny - good luck with the MRI. Will be thinking of you.

DPixie - it's been really cold here, too. Whoever moves to France for the so-called better climate?! Hope you're feeling better now. 800 lavender plants? Could be an earner in that for you, maybe?

Mrs Twins - thanks for the info and well done to you for getting published!

Talking of other threads, I've not encountered any personal nastiness anywhere else, but I've certainly seen it being directed to others, and it's always puzzled me. I stick to OS because it really is very friendly, and I love our thread here because we all support each other which I think is wonderful.

Well, the weather forecast is for milder conditions tomorrow but I won't hold my breath! Hope it's warmer where you are.

Maytaurus, Sock-knitter, and Mrs MW - thinking of you all.

    Have a good evening, everyone.

Hi :hello: Back again with a couple more questions :p
Do people post their totals when they have finished making them or when they have been sent off?
and has anyone else made the "crossover cardi? I am probably being thick and miss reading the pattern, I read it as having 104 sts, put 29sts on a holder for second front, cast off 18sts for back neck, which doesn't put the back neck in the middle :(
    Thanks

anakat - is it the one Roamin posted, the French one ?
If so there was a bit missed out in translation I believe. Corrected version below.

PREEMIE GARTER STITCH CROSS OVER CARDIGAN – translation from French

    Tension 26 stitches and 36 rows – 10 cm
    Size 3mm needles
First size for 1 kilo baby (size in brackets 3.5 kilo baby)
    4 ply wool

Cast on 44 (48) stitches and knit in garter stitch until the work measures 8 (10)cm ( 44 (48) sts)
Cast on 25 (28) stitches at the beginning of the next two rows for the sleeves. (94 (104 sts)
Knit until work measures 14 cm (16 cm).

    Cast off for neck edge……
Knit 39 (43) stitches and place these stitches on a stitch holder (these stitches will be the second front)
Cast off the next 16 (18) stitches for neck then knit to the end of the row. (39 (43) sts)
    Now knit the first front…..

**Knit 4 rows (6 rows) in garter stitch then increase 1 stitch on the neck edge every 4th row, 3 times
(4 times if you are knitting the larger size). (42 (47) sts)
Continue to increase 1 stitch at neck edge on every 2nd row, 19times. (61 (66) sts)
NOTE - when the sleeve measures 12 cms cast off 25 (28) stitches

Continue knitting front till it measures 8cm (10cm) from the cast off sleeve edge.
Cast off the (36 (38) sts) loosely.

Rejoin yarn to 39 (43) sts left on stitch holder and complete as for first front from ** to knit the second front.

Sew side and sleeve seams and affix suitable fastenings.

    Test-knitted and all ok. icon_smile.gif

As for totals, think some post when finished but some only when they send off so take your pick !!
Personally, I update my totals when I finish something (when I remember) as my stuff doesn`t all go to the same place.

Pippa have sent you a pm - fingers crossed this time.

dpixie - oh lots of lovely lavender, I love that smell. Still have some of the wedding favours I made for DD1 about 12 years ago, little hats trimmed with lace and flowers and ribbon to match bridesmaids, filled with lavender seeds. It was such a pleasure to do them and I felt really relaxed and slept well for weeks while I was doing them. Must get some refresher oil for them.

No knitting done tonight, had the night off so will get on with it tomorrow.
    Night all.

As for the nastiness on other forums Ive had some and so has chalky and our chalky would not upset anyone ! people genuinely want help and then the "big I am's" come along and completely knock you out and personal nastiness as well - Ive vowed that I dont stray from here ...... Im safe here :rotfl:except when encouraged to buy wool :rotfl:

    Hi everyone

Chalky - what a lovely surprise to hear from you! I hope the bad weather in Oz doesn't affect your travels. I bet you can't wait to see your DD and she'll be feeling the same, won't she? You've put some lovely photos on FB - can't wait to see what you put on your blog when you get back! Enjoy the rest of your stay!

F1 - hope your head finds a good place soon.

Anakat - just post your totals as and when it suits you. As PSSO says, most people add theirs as they complete items, while others wait until they've been posted. It just depends on what suits you! The most important thing is to make sure they are in red on here - it makes them easier to spot when doing the update.

Jean - hope things are going well and that your DH is in full consultation with you about what he's doing across the channel!

Well, I didn't even pick up my wool yesterday. It was a busy day and then, in the afternoon, I had to look for a cutting disc for DH's tile cutter because he'd worn the old one out. I tried all five likely shops here (and they're not exactly like B&Q, sadly), but it turns out that I won't get one here because DH's machine is British, not French. Luckily, I found what we needed on eBay, so that's on the way now. Thank goodness for the internet! He can get most of the tiles laid without it, it's just the little filling-in bits that he needs to cut.

I have a lovely display of wild birds in my garden nowadays but had an additional surprise today. I always put plenty of food - bread, porridge oats, wild bird seed and sunflower seeds, plus some of those fat balls that the blue and great tits love. Well, this morning I looked out and saw a woodpecker hanging off one of the fat balls! It really took me by surprise. He's been back several times this morning, and the other birds aren't bothered by him, which is great. I've taken a couple of photos which I'll post a bit later. He just looks way too big for it, and it really makes us laugh!

Anyway, off to do something constructive, I suppose.
