    HI everyone.

Shaz - thinking of you and hoping that things start to get better soon.

    MrsMW - thinking of you.

Mrs Moneypenny - good luck with the scan today.

Pippa - lovely blankets! Great photos on Wooligans, too! Chalky posts photos now and again on FB; she's having a great time. I'll say 'hi' from you next time she posts on there!

F1 - we think we have about a month's work left on the house. It's been difficult timing it (my DH doesn't work on earth time; he has a time system all of his own!). We now have to plaster the ceiling in a bedroom that he's just plasterboarded, plaster the utility room, tile the back hall floor, and paint practically every wall in the house, which we can't do until we've been to the UK in March. The paint here is really poor quality and expensive, so we will stock up on our next visit home. I can't wait to get it all done so that all the tools can be put way, if nothing else!

Apollonia - thanks for that great link!

Seakay - hope the work on the house goes well.

Well, I've done another six baby hats, in pink this time, and five pairs of booties. I shall just carry on until the wool I'm using has run out. I've enjoyed doing them because they are easy and the patterns are firmly lodged in my head! Once I've finished them, I really must concentrate on things for the new baby - all of a sudden it's the end of January, and the baby is due in March. This year seems to be flying by!

Anyway, will love you and leave you and pop back in later.

    Have a good day, everyone.

evening ladies - well my mojo returned briefly today as my neighbour was in need of some help - which i did (felt quite proud that i could help someone else for a change and not people helping me) and after helping her decided that me and the iron had a "hot date" :rotfl: anyway me and iron got along quite nicely for about 1.5 hours and then I fell out with him :rotfl:

isom - hope you enjoyed the baileys - i have not had a baileys since i stopped drinking a few years ago now (stopped drinking due to tablets!) and you mentioning it brought some memories back in the tastebud dept...........mmmmmmmmmmmm - hope you are well xxx

kathy - oh my you are on the homeward stretch I cant believe it - what are you and DH going to do when finished ?????????? I am hoping you are actually going to enjoy a rest xxxx

sock-knitter - tell dear ds that he can go and use his own puter:D - kids dont you just love them - hope you can have a nice relax tonight if boys in bed early - take good care xxxxx

mrsmw - hope treatment went ok and you are not feeling too poorly after xxx

mrsmp - good luck for tomorrow - will be thinking of you xxxx

My version of a stiff drink is calling (yes you guessed it a good old boring cuppa!) and my needles are shouting as i have not looked at them much today - another pull on hat on needles

hope you are all having a good evening love to all - j xxxx

    Hi everyone

Shaz - hope things are a little calmer for you.

F1 - how nice for your neighbour that you were able to help. Well, I'm hoping we'll have a rest when the house is finally finished but ultimately we'll have to make a decision on what to do next, so I suspect there will be lots of discussions going on here for a while!

It's been really cold here over the last few days. I really hate how the winters seem to drag themselves out - I didn't expect that to happen here. I shall be so glad when spring is on the way. I can see some signs of it - there are catkins on the hazelnut bush outside, and other things are starting to show signs of life, but not enough to say that the winter is over. In my diary last year, I recorded that the first really cold day (cold enough to light a fire) was October 15th and that seems ages ago. At least we're not having extremes of weather as in other areas, so I'm trying not to complain;it's just that I'm fed up with having to wear lots of clothes all at once!

I've just finished sewing up my little collection of hats and booties ready to send to LH, but I may make a few more before I send them. I want to get some things made for the new baby, too. As soon as we are into February, I'll be panicking because the baby is due in March and it will suddenly start to loom up!

Maytaurus - hope you have a good day today.

    MrsMW - thinking of you.

Mrs Moneypenny - hope the scan went well yesterday.

hello everyone, can you believe it, i just checked to see if my message from two days ago was online - and no, it wasn't - how frustrating - i dont know why my computer is not posting my messages.

anyway, i suppose i should just move on. this morning was lovely and sunny - i sat in bed and watched the sunrise - wow, it was lovely, however, it was a bit of a shock when i went out to hang up the washing - it was very very cold (about 2 degrees) my fingers were so cold. i must go out into the garden this afternoon and cut some of the lavender plants down - did i tell you we have about 600? i have trimmed about 25 of them ... the rest have to be done before the warm weather comes, and preferably before the middle of Feb, the gardener tells me. oh well, that will keep me out of mischief for a while, i think.

other than that, i have tried to catch up with the mails on here, but there are so many, but i hope all are well, good luck mrs mw and shaz and kathy's BIL - i am thinking of you all.

this evening i plan to do some more little jumpers - they seem to be going slow at the moment, i will have to check how many i have done this year, but i think it is in the region of 6 or 7, i would like to do about 6 per month - that would be quite a few for those little orphans - all i have to find out after that is how to get them all to south africa.

anyway, enough of me going on. its time to hit the garden and not get too grumpy when the cold wind blows and i want to go inside but have not reached my target! (target for today is trimming 50 lavenders).

have a lovely day everyone, what a lucky girl i am to have such a lovely bunch of ladies to chat to.

DPixie - 2 degrees? That's warm; well, almost! Here it's 0 degrees mainly due to the biting wind. It didn't look that cold from the inside and there was no frost, but I still had to bash the ice out of the container of water I put out for the birds. They're ravenous at the moment - I found a pack of 25 fat balls for €5+ while I was out this morning, which will last a while. I can't keep up with the blue tits and great tits here. Thanks for reminding me about the lavender - I have some in pots and I will cut those back over the weekend. I hope you hit your target, especially as it's so cold!

Well, we have an electrician friend here at the moment fitting an extractor in our bathroom - we seem to have a bit of a damp problem in there this winter. It's driving me mad because we get damp splodges around the window and I can't stand it. I say he's fitting an extractor - at the moment he and DH are gassing away over their second cuppa of the afternoon! I may have to go and give them a nudge! I think men are worse chatterboxes than us women, but DH would never agree with me!

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon.

  • I treated myself to some nice circular needles 40cm length and yesterday thought I would try them with a preemie hat pattern, the problem I have is that I don't have enough stitches in the pattern to make a complete round is there anyway round this apart from trying to get 30cm lengths but even then I think they will be too long.

I even tried to pull the cord off the needles to try and shorten it but couldnt do it.
  • Happycrafter sure someone who has a clue with knitting can tell you but alas I am hopeless!
