hello everyone and welcome back to shezmit and may - lovely to see you both.

well, its so misty here (and has been most of the day) that its hard to see more than a few meters in front of you. its a bit spooky, but it is a reason to stay indoors in front of the fire with a good book or two. i have been meeting my personal targets with my crochet, so that is a good thing - i do want to do as much as i can for those poor little kiddies in africa - how hard it must be to have no mum and dad and to be cold and not know where the next bit of food is coming from. i just hope that every little counts and that keeping them warm is the best thing to do. that may sound strange, but life is so hard there and it is just getting harder. my brother was telling me that due to the high costs of the world cup (which the country cannot afford) people are going to be taxed just to just the motorways. as the country is so large, one has to use motorways just to get from home to work each day - so everyone will be taxed - even those who cannot afford it. it is so sad.

anyway - i hope that everyone is well and that the new year brings joy to all.

    Hi everyone

I didn't manage to get on here yesterday what with labouring for 'im indoors, so I'm trying to catch up today.

Good to see Maytaurus and Shelley posting again! Welcome back to you both. May - I do hope you are feeling a lot better now. Shelley - it must have been a difficult Christmas for you and your family.

Jean - you must be sad now that your DS is leaving; no doubt you will throw yourself into your workshop for the next few days to get that 'first week after they go back' out of the way! I've just seen your sig - what a brilliant idea! You always have the best ideas, don't you?

Well, we are now well into the new year and, having been dreading Christmas away from the family, I am glad that things are now getting back to normal and I can start thinking about going back to see them all in March - maybe sooner, depending on when the baby arrives!

It's been lovely that some lurkers have now become newbies and I hope they enjoy being a part of this lovely generous group this year! So many people give their valuable time and materials to make things for those far less fortunate than ourselves and I can only wonder at just how many people's lives have been made just a little bit better for having received something handmade with love and affection. For those who have been a part of this thread for a long time, and those who have just joined, I thank you all for your kindness and the time and trouble you take to enrich the lives of others. Without you, this thread would not have become such a great success! Happy New Year to you all!
