Good Morning to one and all -- Our last day here and the beautiful sun is shining so I shall be like a Solar Panel today storing it away.
Similarly I shall try and send some to you all and as I do add the gentlest of thoughts. I know we are all so touched by the sadness here at the moment.
    Love to you all x
Finished the pair of wristwarmers last night I am going to try and add a thumb hole as I sew them up in rib.
Off to have my eyebrows tamed --- quicj flick of the wrist and they should be back in shape-- A complete once over would be a good idea!
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Hi all.

Thank you so much for your lovely kind thoughts; they really do mean such a lot at this sad time for my family. We have no further news about BIL; I think they are just waiting until he visits the hospital tomorrow. The appointment was supposedly to have the second stent fitted but, although they say it would be too risky to do it now, they've told BIL and my sister to keep the appointment so, perhaps, they have thought of something else to do. BIL has been told that he is a bit of an 'enigma', so it seems the doctors are not a hundred percent sure what they are dealing with. Hopefully, something a lot less frightening than the big 'C'.

F1widow - hugs to your DS. I bet he'll be glad when the end of term actually arrives. Both my DILs are teachers and, like the grandchildren, I know they are all looking forward to the end of term! I haven't done anything specifically for charity lately, either; I seem to have less and less time these days, and this worry about BIL is keeping me preoccupied, but I am just making more and more wristwarmers when I get the chance to sit down in the evenings. I love the pattern (one that Pam found), so I think I'll just carry on making them and send them to LH when I have enough for a decent sized parcel.

Chalky - I wish you and DH a very safe journey back to the UK. I really do recommend that you make your thermals readily available, though; you will definitely need them. You might even regret getting your eyebrows done!

ISOM - sending lots of hugs to your friends. Their loss is devastating, and the funeral must have been a harrowing experience.

Well, I only sat down to check my emails and drink my coffee. I have home-made potimarron (a kind of pumpkin with a slightly nutty taste) soup on the hob, home-made bread in the oven, and loads of veg to prep for our sausage casserole tonight. As DH is still grouting in the kitchen, we are dancing around each at the moment!

I hope you all have a good day and that you keep warm and safe.

Hi everyone. I'm up early this morning; I woke up and tried to get back to sleep, but the teapot was calling my name so I had to get up!

Jean - I hope you are feeling a lot better. At least having a cold now means that you should be properly recovered by Christmas.

Chalky - the wristwarmers are great. I think you said they were for your DS (?), so did you cast on a few more stitches to make them man-sized? Seeing them knitted in a 'man' colour has made me realise that I can make them for men as well as women, and I have loads of suitable wool. Your eternity ring looks like mine, too!

F1 - hope your mum and dad are getting over the 'flu. It seems to be doing the rounds in the UK, doesn't it? My DS1 has a horrible cold which he says has made him feel tired and unsociable (not like him at all), so I'm wondering if it's the flu rather than just a cold.

Well, I've no more news about BIL but I'm hoping to hear from my sister today about how the hospital visit went yesterday. It's nerve-wracking enough from this end, but heaven only know how bad it is for them both.

Yesterday I seemed to be so busy it just flashed by in a blur; by the time I sat down in the evening, I could hardly keep my eyes open; I picked up my crochet and promptly dozed off with it still in my hands and not one stitch done! I'm really hoping that things will change in the new year, and that I'll have some more spare time and energy but, somehow, I doubt it.

Jean and DPixe - as fellow ex-pats here, I don't know if either of you are always having to chase things up here? We always seem to be. The C U (building permission) on our building plots expired in July so, just before it did, I took the documentation to the Mairie and asked for it to be renewed. The other day, I was doing some filing and realised that we had still not heard anything back from him, so I called in and the secretary I handed the documentation to had not done anything with it all, and she had to hunt all over her office for it! I just hope the renewal can still go ahead without having to start the process all over again. Another thing I had to chase up was our cheque for the house insurance. I paid it ages ago and was waiting for it to be debited from the bank account. Eventually, I had to call into the office and it turned out that they had mislaid the cheque. I said I would leave it a week for them to look for it then, if they couldn't find it, I would stop the cheque (I have no idea how difficult that might be here, and didn't want to have to do it!) and make out another one. Anyway, they phoned to say they had found it and paid it in, but it left me wondering what would have happened in the meantime if the house had caught fire or something. Even though, essentially, the premium hadn't been paid (because they had lost the cheque!), I hadn't even been sent a reminder! They are so inefficient here, it's a wonder anything gets achieved, and it's so frustrating because it feels like you are doing someone's job for them to save them the bother of doing it themselves! The worst thing is that you can't file anything away because it seems like you are always waiting for something. Anyway, rant over!

I hope the weather in the UK is not as bad as predicted, and that none of you are having to contend with heavy snow. Here, it seemed a bit milder yesterday, and the sun came out, but it got very cold at night again. I think we'll all be glad to see the end of winter but doesn't it seem a long way off?

Take care, everyone, and stay warm and safe.

Bon voyage, Chalky and DH - safe trip back home.

Oh, Chalky - good luck with the trip. I do hope you don't get any hold ups, and that you have warm clothes ready for when you land. Take care and please let us know when you are safely back at home.
