f1 hope DS is feeling better soon, a cold can make you feel really poorly and anyone who says ' oh it's only a cold' has never had a bad one!
Shaz you must have a will of iron to not open your pressie.0 -
Hi everyone - hope you are all well and that it's not too cold for you. It's freezing cold here but lovely and sunny with bright blue skies, so I can't complain too much, especially seeing how bad Scotland has been in the snow. One of my sisters lives in Lincoln, and she has had a fair bit of snow up there.
No more news about my BIL, except that they may do the biopsy tomorrow, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they do. It's been about four weeks since his symptoms put him in hospital, so it's about time they did the biopsy, I think. I spoke to my mum last night and she is worried sick about both BIL and my sister. She is going to visit them this afternoon, which I'm sure will do them both good. BIL gets on with her very well, and he's a lovely son-in-law to her. Bless him, one of the family jokes is that I am the wicked witch (long story!), and he told my sister to tell me to take the hex off him - as if I would put one on him! If only I could do some real magic and make everything better for him.... if wishes, prayers and kind thoughts would do the trick, he's getting loads sent to him. He just needs a bit of luck, too. Thank you all for your continuing kind thoughts.
DH is still tiling and it's looking lovely. He should do the grouting tomorrow, and then the room will look more or less complete, and he can go off and make a mess somewhere else! I did manage to make a Victoria sponge this morning, even though I only had a little corner of workspace left that he wasn't working on.
Shaz - I'm excited, too, because my Secret Santa arrived yesterday, and I've actually put it away so I'm not tempted! It looks and feels very intriguing! On that note, we haven't heard from Purple Teddy Bear for a while, have we? I hope she is OK.
Well, I'm just ploughing on with wristwarmers at the moment, when I get the chance. I have a fair bit of online work on the go, so I have to prioritise things. I'm also still making jewellery for Christmas pressies which I need to get posted off on Monday.
F1 - I hope your DS is feeling better now.
Well, off to do some work, I suppose.
Hope you are all having a good day.

Late on today but lots of love to one and all -- especially those with their hands overflowing.
ISOM -- I was so sorry to read of your news -- words are so inadequate at these times. The gentlest thoughts are with you and your friends.
Kathy -- Special love to you and your family.
It is lovely to see so many posting and lovely patterns.
F1 -- Hope DS is feeling better -- Hope your new house really feels like a home now.
I have actually had a few non woolly days -- Makes a change!!
I started Reiki Level 2 earlier in the year and I have been working on it ever since and passed today -- So feeling really pleased.
Thanks for kind enquiries about DD -- She is fine and working really hard. We spoke the other day and it was lovely to hear her voice.
In case you are looking for a little "filler" I found these on the web and they really are sweet.

Hi Chalky - well done on passing your Reiki; it will be a service you can offer when we're all on the big woolly bus next year! The snowmen are really cute and, as you say, a really good present. I love the cat mugs, too. Did you get them in Spain or the UK?
I just want to remind everyone that the links I posted re wristwarmer patterns were actually posted by Prfungi (Pam) some time ago. I just copied and pasted her post, so the patterns are her 'finds', not mine. I don't want to take credit for something someone else found and kindly shared with us all. I have to say, the fourth pattern down is the one I've been using, and it's SO easy but gives great results.
Well, I enjoyed Strictly tonight, and can't wait for tomorrow night's show, then we'll know who's in the final. Has anyone been watching Any Human Heart on Sunday nights? It's the last one tomorrow, and I've really enjoyed the whole thing.
I hope you all have a great evening.

hi there everyone, hope that todays post goes better than the last few - been having some gremlins visiting my computer (since placing a tesco's order) and all of my posts since then have just failed to send and my computer has crashed.
so ... kathy - i am so very sorry to hear about your BIL - i pray for him and your family and do hope that things improve. if you need to have a chat or just to vent your anger please just give me a call. i can listen, its one of those women's skills that i am very good at.
jean - loved the garage - lucky lucky lucky recipient - i think it is wonderful - a work of love and genius.
chalky - well done you you are a star!
suki - welcome, i am sure that every little bit you create will be cherished by those we donate to - there are so many charities in the uk that are looking for people to knit/crochet/sew for them, both your time and money will fly if you let them. i have a current passion for crocheting little jumpers which i donate to a charity in south africa (i knit/crochet squares for them too).
may - we miss you.
pam - if you are lurking ... hello!
isom - my current answer to cold feet/hands etc is my hot water bottle, it goes everywhere with me and ... its fun making different covers for it too. i think that poundsavers or someone like that has lovely little hotwater bottle that are the size of your pocket which are also handy ... its just a thought.
oh well, its been rather fun around here over the last week - the weather has been up and down - literally - and all sorts of things have been happening, but the most fun thing has been a spot of cow herding. great fun, especially when the owner of the little herd of cows knows the name of each animal and the herders dog had no confidence in my abilities and would not leave me alone at the back of the herd - where could i go wrong? (actually - the answer to that was that i did not put my wellies on and ended up knee deep in cow poo - not something i will forget!!!!)
other than that - hubby has hurt his back chopping wood - so its been a little quiet around here, but, please note that he is well enough to come downstairs for the chelsea game - so not sure that he is that bad!
okay - its time for me to start doing some stuff around the house and perhaps wrap a few christmas pressies, so i bid you farewell for the moment and hope to speak to you all tomorrow.
have a fab evening and thank you all for being such wonderful friends and such great inspiration.

Good afternoon to One and All
Dpixie -- What a lovely post -- That is exactly how I think of everyone on here we are so lucky to share the special bond of creativity.
I do hope that Christmas and all the commercial paraphenalia is not proving too hard for people who have had a sad time of it this year. We have certainly had some ups and downs. I actually love Christmas but like the simplified version-- a more outward looking view than the idea of it all having to be so perfect. Kirsty and Phil really got on my nerves last week so we turned it off. That children's party-- with so much money spent when supposedly Christmas was just around the corner.
I wish like Puppet Lady they had got the children filling shoe boxes for dear little children who will have so little.
Sorry rant over!
Anyway special gentle thoughts to all as Christmas approaches---- Kathy-- hope and prayers coming to you and your family. ISOM xxx psso -- xxxxx Shelley xxxx May --- xxxxx Mrs M -- XXX Pippa and Dave --xx and in case I have missed anyone feeling sad or down --xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have been busy making cards today for the Yoga charity GAPA --- Grandmothers against Poverty and Aids in South Africa . It is my last Yoga meeting before our return so hopefully people will by a few and then the money can help there.
All my woolly stuff is packed so a bit in Limbo with starting anything new but lots of babies due in the New Year so will start a few name flags I thinkTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Lovely snowmen Chalky, very effective. Congratulations on passing the Reiki exam, my son fixes a friends computer whenever there's a problem and gets a free Reiki session in return, he loves it.
Nice to see you dpixie, love the story of the cows and the herder's dog. Hope DH's back is better soon.0 -
Hi everyone.
I hope you are all having a good weekend. We've both been busy this morning, DH tiling and me working online, and finishing off my Christmas cards. I keep forgetting that I need to allow time for them to cross the channel!
We've had a lovely Skype chat with my sister and BIL this afternoon. It's the first time we've actually seen him since he was taken so ill and it came as quite a shock to see just how ill he is. He has now lost four stone in four weeks but, thankfully, has actually started to eat some proper food. He has to steer clear of anyting fatty but to be eating anything at all is fantastic. It seems he will be having a second stent put in tomorrow, along with a biopsy but, according to my sister who told us a bit more when he had popped out to the loo, the doctors have said that the way the mass (they call it that, but it's the size of a peanut, believe it or not) is spreading, it is definitely what we've all been dreading. If they can start the chemo soon, it will give him some chance of delaying the inevitable, so we're all praying for that.
Thank you ALL for such kind thoughts and words - you've no idea how much they mean at such a horrid horrid time.
I'm hoping to sit down later and get on with some soothing woolly stuff - it's amazing how therapeutic knitting and crochet are, isn't it?
Lots of hugs to such wonderful friends.
