Good morning everyone, it's actually above freezing point today, basking at 35f.

ISOM I can't explain how sad I felt reading your post. 21 years old, it just doesn't bear thinking about, my heart goes out to the family, and you because I know you will feel almost as bad as they do. Hugs and prayers.

Pippa what a nice neighbour you are, I've got tea and choccy biccies :)

Suki hope you find what you want at the wool shop, this could be the beginning of 'the stash', which means wool hidden in every available space, and when you get more you have to smuggle it into the house. What sort of dog have you got?

mioliere fingers still crossed for BIL, and hugs for your poor sister, I do hope they can do something helpful.

roamin' have you heard any more about Maytaurus? Hope you got the housework finished, and DH arrives home happy and safe.

    Love to everyone xxxx
  • morning all!
Suki have you considered online shop for wool? If its charity stuff im happy to send you some of my stash if that would help? (makes room for more stash!!).
Thanks for thoughts re best mates family. I love best mate and her family so much that it really goes to my heart when they are hurting. Didnt help that I was tired and a bot weepy anyway! Day off today and got a blood test and then popping into my surrogate granny for a cuppa! Tomorrow is helping another friend (one who is pregnant) to decorate her sitting room with a group of us from our home group. I love the thought that we all help each other "build" our homes like this!
How exciting miol that you have tiles!
eek just looked at time! need to be out in 10 mins and not dressed!! back later!

    Good morning ladies

kathy - so sorry to hear how your BIL is - dont think you cant off load - you are always here for all of us - it seems so little but thinking of you and sending loving thoughts to all of you xxxx

isom - I was shocked and saddened to read about your friend - how shocking - loving thoughts to you and a big hug xxxx

suki - welcome to you - its good to hear that out of something bad - the snow - we have a new member! am hoping you have been able to get some needles and wool and are off and running (being naughty and only lurking the last few days im not sure if any of the following has already been given to you) - shelley (shezmit)( from Preemies UK takes preemie clothes hats, etc and also blankets (i think 15" square and up - I do them about 16-17") just thought the blanket might be a starting point for you as well - as they are preemies though they dont like too holey so little fingers cant get trapped - I know loving hands has been mentioned and good old Lou takes everything - suki Im hopeless at links so I apologise but hope this works for preemies uk - http://preemiesuk.googlepages.com/home.html

Hopefully you will have as good a time here as I do - so much encouragement both with knitting and personal things as well xx

chalky - have you heard from DD - hope she is ok - thinking of you xxx

Love and hugs to all - I know I have missed some but sending you all warm thoughts xxx (psso - hope you are feeling better xxx)

Christmas is fast approaching and im panicking im not ready! - DS has been off school all week - very poorly - I dont think i have seen him so ill with a cold - temperature, aching, his eyes look all sad, headache etc BUT I know how ill he must be - he is not eating!!!!!! (DS loves his food so am a little worried that he is not eating)

Sorry I have been neglecting you all - love and hugs xxxxx

Shaz - I've copied and pasted this post from Pam which she posted some time ago. The wristwarmers I'm doing are the fourth ones down. It's a really easy pattern, they look great, and, once you've made the first pair, you don't have to keep referring to the instructions - the perfect pattern, really!

    COPIED FROM PAM'S POST:

Now when I was here yesterday I said I’d have a trawl for some more wrist warmers, here is a selection – all free, some crochet, the rest knitted on 2 needles.

    Afternoon all

Cold again but NO snow it seems to have mostly disapeared overnight, whats left would'nt make a decent snowball let alone a snowman....:T (thank goodness)
Garden looks a real mess, always does after snow though.
Ah well at least it will be nice and dry for DS1/DIL and DGD's to travel up later, they are coming up after school so should get here around 4.00pm but they have to come along a section of the dreaded M25  what a bloomin nightmare that is....so hopefully it wont be too bad
Kinsey I luv choccy biscuits, dark chocolate's my favourite especially the blue box M&S ones, if you lived nearer I'd be there with my little bag of tricks:rotfl:
Hi f1 hows the house coming along, poor DS hope his cold gets better soon, how is he settling down at school? hope he is happier than at his old school.
ISOM - I am so sorry to hear your sad news, 21 is so young for such an awful thing to happen, your friend must be heartbroken. I will send a prayer up for you all (((hugs)))
kathy - nice selection of wristwarmers, I found an old pattern amongst Mums knitting stuff and there are some on there with a thumb in, I did them for PTB's christmas fayre and they were easier than I thought they would be, I might just do some for me now.
Just had a thought suki wristwarmers now thats an idea for you
because basically all they are is an oblong folded in half with a hole for the thumb, they dont have to be fancy, take a look at no 5 of kathys pics:D

Off to do another beanie with the last of the maroon wool Lou sent me.

back over the weekend with my update.

afternoon - i feel like a bus - dont come along very often then twice in a day :rotfl:

Thanks kathy for the links to the wrist warmers - Ive just made a couple of pairs for pressies - just knit 3 purl 2 rib - about 10 inches long 35 stitches - knitted on size 4.5mm

Forgot to say earlier I treated myself (naughty I know) to one of those loopi scarf makers (look a like to the ones on create and craft which were 29,99 - mine was 6.95 on ebay) - it came yesterday early afternoon and by late afternoon had run one up for the lady next door to see.

To anyone who knows I saw the thread for the hats for the homeless on loving hands - does anyone know is that just for immediate need or ongoing??? - I think its a fantastic idea only problem is with so much going on I dont know whether I can do any - my head cant cope with knitting on a time scale:rotfl:I might pop over and see - I cant get my head round any charity knitting which I am feeling incredibly guilty about - hoping for a quiet sit down over christmas with my stash to catch up.

pippa - thanks for wishes for DD - house is getting there - taking a bit of time to get my head round it all - mojo is part time at the moment - I did not tell my mojo it could be on flexi time:rotfl:

Anyway better be away - christmas cards all made and written - presents that need posting wrapped (just need labeling) - secret santa wrapped and packed (just need label) all just waiting to go to post office with DH.

Love to all - seems to have become a little milder - last of ice etc seems to have thawed - hoping weather stays like this as MIL & FIL are coming to stay for xmas and wont come if weather is bad xxx

the LH post i read mentioned Ellie wanting them with her to take to the homeless shelter by 19th Dec so they could be distributed over cristmas. so i think it was a short term one off appeal, that just how i read it.

thanks for the lovely wrist warmer/ fingerless glove links im tempted to do some more.

did one to go with the odd one i had then made a hat and scarf to go with it as i hadnt got a pressie for my pen friend just got to add the fringing to the scaf and get them wrapped.

  • morning all,
kathy, thanks for the links for the fingerless gloves, i'm just about to start a pair now, i've sorted the right colours from my stash
f1, hope your son is feeling better soon
i was naughty yesterday, and bought some more sock wool, in all the new colours, plus had an order for 3 pairs knitting up. almost finished sons socks for xmas, and just one more sock to do for my mum, then i can start on these,.
only charity knitting i've done this week is a couple of squares for a blanket, but hoping once xmas pressies out of way, i'll have more time for charity stuff
really excited cos my secret santa parcel arrived today, and i cant wait to open it, think i'll take it to my mum's to save til xmas
    hugs to all poorlies
    love shaz xxx
