Just off for the last session of gardening and am going to call into Lidl's for some packets of rice and lentils as I can't go home on Friday for a super Christmas and think I have done nothing to help the poor homeless men just a little way down the coast.
Have lovely days and gentle thoughts to all x

hi all, hope that you are having a good day, despite all the sadness that is on this thread. think happy thoughts and fill the world with love and kindness and pay it forward - its all we can do.

its freezing here and having taken a nice long walk in the cold (so cold that every time i smiled my teeth felt the cold) now i am sitting in front of the fire with a good book, my crochet and the hubby (who is watching last weeks footie ??? why you may ask - i have been told that he wants to hear all the comments made regarding the matches - how sad is that?????)

jean - wellies are ready and waiting with their lovely foot-warming linings ready so my toes dont freeze. i do love the cows around here, poor things they have to put up with my chatter almost every day - cant make life much easier for them!

    have a lovely evening everyone

  • oops didnt realise you were meant to wait to open them!! Busy and mixed day here...secret santa went well; I devised a wee quiz and it had a prize! Manager won it! Hope people didnt think it was fixed - hopefully they know me well enough to know it never would be with me! My secret santa prize was a tad nervous about but am the happy recipient of some lovely tea (twinings - very posh!) and coffee - all in lovely tins so a fab pressie for me as I love tins and there were 3 of them! lovely, considerate present rather than some of the unimaginables others got! Babysitting this eve - they want to cook me a meal in jan which was very sweet of them so were booked in for 13th jan! Under strict instructions to get a taxi!! No wooly stuff done as too tired but hope to tomorrow...off to watch some carp tv for a bit! hugs those that need them and safe journey home chalky! Will pray for a safe trip for you all...good news about dd's friend too!

HI everyone. Hope you are all keeping safe and warm, and that the forecast is not as bad as they are predicting. It's still very cold here; we have lots of sun and blue sky, but also very hard frosts. I had to go out early because I had a long-overdue appointment to get my hair trimmed. It was quite icy on the roads but I didn't have to go too far, luckily. I need to go out again, later. I thought I'd do a big shop in case we get snowed in.

ISOM - I've hidden my Secret Santa package away, out of the reach of temptation! It looks really inviting, too! So thank you to my swappee! I just hope mine gets to where it's going - I am a bit worried because the news has reported a backlog of post in the UK.

No further news on BIL so far. I shall phone my sister later, but I hate to bother her too much right now, when time for them is so precious.

DH is finally grouting the kitchen wall tiles then, finally, I can put everything back where it should be, and it will feel like a real kitchen for the first time since we moved in!

We went to the farm yesterday, to buy some more delicious goodies and because the 'book' lady was there in the tearoom for the first of her monthly book fayres. DH came along just to have a break from the tiling, and we had a lovely afternoon, with plenty of cuppas AND they had tins of Cadbury's Roses that we could dip into. French chocolate just isn't the same! The piglets are all free-ranging now, and they were running around and playing; it was so lovely to watch.

At the moment, they just open the tearoom at the weekends, but they hope to open more often in the new year, and I should be working there a couple of days a week, which will be perfect for me.

Anyway, I chose about €30 worth of meat, and was standing there with my money in my hands, and the lady who runs the farm, Jan, said 'Happy Christmas' and wouldn't take my money! I was really shocked, and tried to make her take the cash, but she wouldn't accept it. How generous is that? She said she was so grateful for the work that DH and I have done there, plus when DH's brother was here, he bought over €100 worth of meat goodies, and she wanted to thank us for that, too. I had to make her promise not to do it again - after all, she has a business to run. We will take a bottle of wine up there on our next visit.

Well, I had better get on with some work, I suppose.

I've just heard from my sister and now the doctors have decided it's too risky to give my BIL the second stent. She doesn't know why yet, but is going to phone them later to find out. He needs it to get his bilirubin levels down so that the chemo can start, so it's come as a real shock to them both.

Hi all, quick call in as I`m in `hamster mode` - running round in that wheel and getting nowhere fast :p

Been stuck here all day waiting for a delivery from Argos/santa. DS asked them to deliver a bike for one of the kids to my house and delivery time was ......between 7am and 6pm - big help,NOT.
Probably come while I`m away to pick up DD and little J. Sod`s law.

Was going to be going into big city first thing this morning to finish my Christmas shopping before the snow comes tomorrow so that didn`t happen. Hate shopping anyway but it`s even worse nearer Christmas. Struggle to get parking space, millions of people (well seems like millions) loooooong queues everywhere, shops so hot and we`re muffled up in thick coats, scarves, gloves etc cause it`s cold outside - Not my favourite pastime.

Kathy - Sorry to read that your BiL is unable to have treatment yet. Not the sort of news you want to hear when you are so far apart. (((Hugs))) to you and them.

Chalky - Hope you get home safely on Friday and the predicted snow doesn`t muck up flights/travel plans.

Roamin - :T well done with the fete. Give EDNA the order of the welly boot and kick her oot the door.

Welcome to newbies -and `oldies` and MIA`s.
    Hugs if you need them.

Just looking at the weather forecast -- brrrrrrrr!! Going to be such a shock to the system and the house will be freezing -- still hey ho - so lucky to have missed a lot of it!
Took dried goods to the Yoga Centre so feel a bit better about that.
I am knitting a pair of wristwarmers for DS - He has worn out the pair I made for him last year! Thanks Pfungi that pattern is just brilliant and so quick.

Kathy My thoughts and prayers just continue to be with you and your family. If only wishes could change things!
Jean I hope Edna packs her bags really soon -- You have been working so hard with so many wonderful things I don't think she ought to be knocking on your door! NO ROOM AT THE INN/BARN!
psso -- So sorry life is giving you the run around at the moment -- That shopping sounds terrible. I am dreading the change in pace!

Thank you so much for the good wishes for our journey home

Lots of love to one and all and gentle thoughts aplenty x
