  • Evening all! Flipping freezing here so going to put blanket on and watch tv in bed!! The advantage of living in 1 room! Did a couple or rounds of the attick 24 bag last night but waiting for new supplies to finish it. Managed to wear gum shield last night and no face pain today which was a relief! does take a while to get used to though.
Dp am much looking forward to my new boots arriving as its flipping cold here and the wind chill factor was downright nasty today. I had to do my tyres this am (scared of slippage so checked with tyre man and that they werent flat!) and by the time I finished my hands were burning they were so cold. ugh! Looks like worse to follow as well...Im babysitting about 10 miles away on sat so hope I dont get snowed in...I agreed to it weather permitting though!
Hope people are ok! huggles may if youre reading in! Hope you are on the mend! Socky hope you are ok and the boys are calm?!

with much relief am managing to get a day off on Friday to finish Christmas shopping although really chuffed that Ive done most of it online...sooo much easier!

f1 it's called blackberry stitch, and what you do is p5 tog then make 5 stitches out of the next stitch, so the number stays even. Knit the stich but don't slip it off the needle, bring the yarn round to the front between the two needles and purl into the same stitch, don't slip the stitch off, take the yarn back between the two needles and knit into the same stitch. Do this til you have the five stiches then slip the stitch off the needle, it will make the stitch big and look like you've made a hole, but that's part of the pattern and if you keep going it will make sense. It's a very pretty stitch pattern and worth the effort. Good luck with it.

snow is so deep here, that i cant get my car out, i'd have to clear the whole road lol. daniel is off school due to the weather joshua's school is open again, but will probably shut after lunch like it did yesterday, to allow the pupils who have to catch several buses to get home safely. lucky josh gets to walk in the snow, he loves it, playing with snowballs
daniel played out in the back garden yesterday, and made a snow woman, complete with (0)(0) lol
am missing my craft groups, and feel quiet isolated. been trying to finish off some xmas pressies, but finding it hard to find the time

Hi everyone; I hope you are all managing to keep warm and safe. It's very cold here (-2 at the moment) but no snow so far. From what I've seen on the news, the conditions in the UK look horrendous.

I'm wishing I was in the UK right now because my dear BIL (my sister's husband) is in hospital. He's been there for a few weeks now because he suddenly developed jaundice and felt sick and couldn't eat. They took him in when they realised he was fast losing weight. From what we all thought was just something minor has now become the worst nightmare. They have found what they call an inoperable mass on his liver and they are hoping to do a biopsy later on today. We are hoping and praying that they can do something for him. We only saw him in September when we were in the UK and he was in his usual role at my mum's party - playing with all the grandchildren who love him to bits. I can't believe he's become so ill in just a couple of months. He's lost 3 stone in just a few weeks. He's only 57 and has always looked after himself. He doesn't smoke, only drinks the odd glass of wine, and has a healthy appetite. I don't know what this will do to my sister - she's not in good health herself. As you can imagine, I am very very worried. We are all waiting and hoping that they can do the biopsy today and that things are not as bad as they have been prepared for.

Apart from that, DH's brother is here and they are working on the final bits of plumbing. We've been invited out for lunch at the farm later today. The owners want to thank us for our help getting the place ready for their big day, so we are looking forward to that and it will take my mind off things back home for a while, although I shall be waiting for phone calls.

F1widow - please don't feel you have to apologise for not posting. We all have other commitments and sometimes it's just not possible to post regularly, especially at this time of year when thoughts are on Christmas. It's good to hear from everyone no matter how often it is. I hope life is treating you well.

Mrs Twins - I am amazed at how many blankets you have put together; each and every one of them is a gem.

Maytaurus - if you're reading this, I hope you are feeling better.

mioliere how horrible for you all, hope they do the biopsy and it's better news. Thinking of you. ((hugs))

mrs.money penny how very sad, how does one explain to a child. There's always that year of 'firsts' to get through and it can be so hard, you have my sympathy.

kathy, hope the biopsy finds nothing serious and your bil gets better as soon as possible (((hugs)))
mrs money penny, how sad for you all at this time of year, especially for your youngest ds, who dosent realise how final death can be. (((hugs)))
i remember the first xmas without my grandad, he'd passed away on the 19th dec, and just feeling numb .
the snow here has been so heavy again, that they sent joshua home at 10.30am, feel so isolated and bored at home. keep trying to knit, but kids keep pestering, they're awfully bored now too

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the kind thoughts about my BIL. We've heard nothing more since this morning; it's just a matter of trying to send positive thoughts. It's my sister's birthday tomorrow, and I'm hoping she has the best present she could wish for, that her DH will be OK.

Mrrs Moneypenny - your poor DS. It's a shock when the finality of death sinks in, and it's especially hard getting over the firsts of the special times like Christmas and birthdays.

We've had the most delicious lunch at the farm today. Well, it was called lunch but I don't think I'll be needing to cook this evening! We had three courses and could have had more but everyone was completely full up after the third course. It made a nice change - lovely food and great company; just what we needed on such a cold day as this.

Still no snow but we've heard they've got it in Poitiers which is just thirty or so miles away. Whatever the weather brings, I've made sure we're stocked up for a while, especially if BIL gets snowed in up here and can't get back home.

Well, after our lunch break, the men are back to plumbing but I think I'm just going to have a sit down by the fire and either doze or crochet! The three glasses of wine I've had are starting to take effect. I'm no good after a lunchtime drink!

Hope you are all managing to stay warm and safe.

And here is a magnificent Angora goat - he needs clipping really but I think he's probably very glad of this lovely coat at the moment!
