Oh, bless you, Kinsey! That's just what I need as I'm sure it's size 10 English, though can't remember if I've got 8s. Shows how much I go in my needlework/knitting box!

It's winter being here though and so much rubbish on TV. Then DH will find a western :( so I'd love to knit again - but get it right this time.

Well, I have your advice and help now so I'll check it all out tomorrow.

Thank you so very much, Kinsey, I really do appreciate the trouble you've gone to.

Started DGS's ripple blanket last night, I just love doing them I find it so relaxing...bit like knitting a scarf really... dont have to think about it too much, and when it gets long enough it keeps your legs warm, defo an added bonus :rotfl:

chalky - yes he is one special little boy and he is so missed when they are away, too right I wish I was there with them, but could'nt run to another cruise this year. But the piggy bank is filling up nicely for next year ;)

:wave:Hello Sue-UU nice to see you back you will soon get into the swing of it all Kinsey is right the needles used most are the 10(3.25) and 8(4mm). Here are a couple of links for you (hope they work) the first one is a conversion chart for needle sizes for UK/Metric/USA, the second is knitted squares you might like to practice on, happy knitting

Sue this may help - written and video instructions! Have to say I pretty much always crochet now as loathe the undoing which is so much quicker with crochet!
Well the attick bag is on hold while new wool wings its way so may try to get a cat blanket done as very concious my charity stuff leaves much to be desired!
Having another home day as woke up with migeaine again and sinuses roaring...thankfully my new mouse, headset and rest are on teh way in work so they shoud diminish. Think its also reducing tabs and generally working full time thats taking its toll. Am going to have a go at tap dancing in jan and start some swimming as i think much of my probs lie with being a size 24 and lugging around so much flab...problem in I am inherantly a couch potatoe!!
Got a bracelet to make for a woman in work so on to that next!
Pippa do share piccies of the ripple-have yet to try that yet!
Kinsey how you doing? tried any of the wool yet?!!
    Socky have things quietened down?

ISOM saving the wool til I find something 'special', probably after christmas now. Love the sound of learning to tap dance. Problems are still around but not too bad. Is it the computer screen starting off your migraines?

ISOM - have you tried one of those mesh filled frames that you can clip over your computer screen? Takes the glare down even more than adjusting the brightness.
Sock -knitter - hope that you managed to have a relaxing Sunday
    Welcome back SUE-UU!
Hope that MAYTAURUS is continuing to recover her latest bout of illnesses
    Love and (((hugs))) to all.

Hi everyone. I've not been around much over the weekend. Christmas shopping yesterday, and visitors today. I hope you are all keeping well.

Sue UU - great to see you back! I see the girls have come up with some great advice and links for you.

DPixie - I hope you got my pm on Friday?

Well, it's been very cold here, and it tried to snow earlier but didn't settle. I hope it doesn't - DH is working about an hour's drive away tomorrow and Tuesday, and his brother is coming up from the south of France on Tuesday to finish off our plumbing, and he'll be staying for a few days. I'll get the presents for his family wrapped while he's here so that he can take them back home with him; it'll save me the postage!

I've been crocheting some wristwarmers, and also making some jewellery. Once I've made a few things, I'll post some photos. I need to order some more beads and stuff - the last parcel I ordered from eBay arrived within two days, which I think is fantastic, considering it had to come from the UK to France, so I shall be ordering from the same company again tomorrow. I must admit, I've been enjoying the jewellery-making, as long as my hands aren't too cold!

Well, I hope you are all having a great evening, and that you are managing to keep warm. Lots of hugs to all who are in need.

Well girls, the start of another week ............and it`s still snowing.:(

Had a bally awful weekend, just one thing after another in this house again. Why does everything seem worse when it`s bad weather ??

Spent ages clearing the snow from path and drive so that I could get the car out yesterday, came in for a warming cuppa and a snowplough came round the street - and shovelled snow right across the bottom of my cleared driveway  so had to do it all again.
Went to pick up DD and little J from DS`s and car started making funny noises :( Managed to get home but haven`t been able to take DD & J to nursery - too risky especially in this weather. Hope DS can have a look later and repair it.

Handle of the snow shovel has broken  and no spare.
And to cap it all - DD put some washing in the machine last night, load of little lad`s stuff as he`d been sick. Went to take it out and lots of `bits` everywhere - all over clothes and machine. You know how it is when you accidentally wash a tissue with the clothes, well visualise jelly bits instead of tissue............she`d put a disposable nappy in with the clothes and towels :doh:What a wally !!
Now have machine running a boil wash with soda crystals to try to get rid of said jelly, took most of it out with kitchen roll but hopefully residue will be disposed of and won`t `kill` the machine.

I really hope that if `everything comes in threes` that`s my three over and done with for a while. It`s enough to drive me to drink !!

Hope you`ve all had better times this weekend.
Hugs for you if you haven`t and you`re welcome to come and help me drown my sorrows ;)

    See you later.

Elaine - what a horrid run of events you've had. I'm sure that's your three out of the way. Hope the rest of the week goes really well for you, and that the washing machine is OK, and DS can sort out your car.

Well, after a busy weekend, I'm sorting out the house for tomorrow, when BIL comes to finish our plumbing. He's no trouble (apart from having a really healthy appetite!) and will not just do the plumbing but will help DH with lots of other niggly little jobs that need two men, not one man and a pathetic woman with bad hands!

It's been very cold all weekend but we've only had a little bit of snow that didn't settle. It's beautiful here today - bright and sunny, so I hope it stays like that for a while.

I hope it's not too bad in the UK, although Scotland does look horrendous from what I've seen on the news. Hope you all keep warm and safe.
