Ive given up on the bolero after cocking it up within two rows and my shoulder hurting! Cousin will get an attick 24 bag instead as i definately find crochet easier on my back than knitting...mums doing me a pair of mitts as its getting mighty cold here!
Miol sounds like a great sucess and a great way for you to branch out, make new friends and hopefully earn some pennies too! after all more pennies=more wool! Do send piccy of piggies if you can; used to have some when we lived in greece and I love them-very intelligent and affectionate creatures plus must admit they taste yummy too! I was veggie for a while and it was bacon sandwiches that broke me!
Look forward to the latest loopy update chalky!

    Hi all.

Shaz - have a great day. I hope it's nice and peaceful for you. I love your timetable!

ISOM - DH has taken the camera to work with him (to take pics of a roof he's working on for a customer - interesting, eh?) but will post piggy photos asap!

Well, I started on a pair of crochet wristwarmers last night; a really easy pattern that I think Pam posted recently. I think I shall be making a few pairs because, once you've done one, you don't have to keep referring to the pattern - that's my kind of crochet!

DH is working ALL THIS WEEK (yay! No renovation mess! No progress on the house, but I don't care right now; I just want to pretend that I live in a nice house!) I may even have an afternoon of crochet - oh, such luxury! You wait, now that I've gloated, the roofing job will probably get rained off or something!

It is a bit cool and damp here; not raining and not really cold, but we could do with some sun for a change. I decided to go shopping early this morning - just goes to show how much more organised I am when I'm on my own!

Anyway, hope you are all having a good day.

    Hiya

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday, just doing exactly what I wanted
so I managed to finish the granny blanket.
I hope its big enough, I used 6" Jan Eaton squares and did 2 rows of dc around each one, joined them together and did 4 rows of chain loops, then 1 row of dc to finish it off, turned out at 35.5"square.
I did ask on L/H what size to do but had no reply, so I just carried on and did what I thought,I did take a guideline from MrsTwins blankets (hope you don't mind):) with the 25 squares.
It's turned out very bright and cheerful, which I was aiming for.

I am off to the Cinema tonight to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I've seen them all with a friend of mine and her DD and DS, who were quite young when HP first started. Her DD is now at Uni and her DS at college, time fly's as they say.

kathy - I am so pleased for you, it sounds like a good time was had by all and everything went so well :T a couple of days working could be a good thing and maybe it will help a little with the home-sickness :)
shaz - yippee peace and quiet and freedom for a few hours :j
kinsey - I had a couple of pairs of bamboo needles size-3.25 and 2.75 given to me, if you would like them.:)
Elaine - too right I'm drooling sounds yummm

Off to Jan's now to take her some wool ;)

Pippa how very kind of you. I have asked DH to get me a whole set for christmas but if they don't appear I'll be back to you. This is such a nice and helpful thread. By the way, wouldn't you just love to go to Hogwarts? They've apparently recreated it in America..........dream on.

Shaz and mioliere hope your days work out as planned:)

hello there ladies, sorry that it has taken me so long to get back, but as you read, we had a long time away and then other things to deal with. thank you for enquiring after my aunt, she is "better" in that she is now spending more time in this world than her "better place", but her short term memory is shot, which is sad. she keeps asking how old she is, what her occupation was (she was a phd who studied cancer - someone who was great at her job and made a difference, it is so sad to see her as she is right now).

other than that, it has been sooooo wet here, i think that i am growing webbed hands and feet. it has also been cold, although this week is forecast to be even colder!

i do have some wooly stuff on the go, and i am almost ashamed to say that i am still stuck on the hexagonal jumpers. i took about 15 with me to SA (that was all i had space for) and they were well received, so i thought i would make a stock of them for when my SIL come to visit and she can take them back with her.

Kathy, your weekend sounds like a roaring success, and the job offer, i do wish that i could find something like that. i really do want to find some sort of work, even if it is just part time to get me out of the house and meeting more people. (our community is very small and although we know all of our neighbours, some of them are "weekenders" and most of them are older and want some privacy, so i cant visit all the time. i suppose if there are only 3 houses in the village that are inhabited full time, you are going to be short of people to speak to!

chalkey, love the aprons - i have a couple and would love more. a perfect present, i think.

may, not sure if you are up to reading this, but i have been thinking of you and send all my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

isom - love, love, love the blanket, the colours are perfect and so is the design, well done you, most impressive.

jean - i am sure that you are having more rain in the north than we have had, hope that you are not too wet and that you are getting time where you dont have to swim from the front door to the car. by the way, what do you do when you want an nice curry or a delicious chinese? i am in the process of ordering stuff from the uk, but i think that i am going to have to make a long trip one of these days and fill up the car with essentials!

anyway, hope everyone else is okay and that you are sitting in front of the fire with a tea/coffee/horlicks and some wooly work and are having a good time.

    be well

  • dpixie - curry stuff from this mob- they ship to France - not sure of the postage - depends on how much you order!

We have a Vietnamese restuarant and a new Chinese chain in the local big towns, might be worth a shuftie through the local yellow pages see if anywhere close -
Sorry I am extremely busy at present, doing "Christmas Things" must get it all finished for DH to deliver, not helped by the fact that Janette rang to ask for some MORE snowmen for the school Christmas market, but I am popping in to make sure you are all still here on a dialy basis, just no time to fit in between the sewing, knitting machine and wrapping. I do hope you're all keeping safe and well as well as warm - see you have some rotten white stuff due in the UK by the end of the week, so make sure you have plenty of warm clothes on. Love and cuddles to you all, will pop back when I can.
Kathy, so pleased the weekend went so well, there is life in France, you might have to hunt hard for it but it's out there.
