My hand is fine now thank you Annie, think it must have been Arthur-itis flare up so am seeing the Gp tomorrow.
Keeping busy in the garden, nearly done all the washing thats been hanging about and sorted out lots of things to go various places. I went to Hobbycraft so Hubs could get something for his model railway and I didnt spend a penny  self imposed exile :rotfl: Hubs only spent £2 so very frugal. He actually offered to buy me some yarn but thats because he was a ratty so and so last week and is making it upto me.
Off to pick up Dgs at 4 and see his new shoes. He was very good in the shoe shop last week considering trying on new shoes feels like sheer pain to him ( autism is so complex) then they discovered they didnt have the shoes in stock in his size anywhere in the country :mad: he had a wee paddy but clmed down when Mummy told him Postman Pat would deliver them ...phew... He is having good days and bad days at school but so far more good than bad.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

Hi I have been following this thread for a while and I am wondering you could give me some advice about knitting for charity. My friend and I used to knit for a local branch of a national charity and sold our baby wear at coffee mornings etc. The local branch seems to be dormant at the moment and whilst trying to use up my stash of new yarns I made some baby bonnets and handed them in to the Salvation Army shop and they were refused. I contacted them and have been advised that it is law that they do not sell knitted items because they are not regulated by any authority or past any allergy checks completed on them and do not have care labels. I used to make knitted dolls and could understand the regs over safety issues but did not realise that baby wear could cause such problems. I don't want to appear oversensitive over this issue but now I wonder if it worthwhile putting the time and effort in making things, it isn't as if I was wanting any praise for it. Sorry if this has been longwinded.0

Paddee welcome, it is upsetting when health and safety get in the way of common sense and your well meant hardworking and donations seem unwanted or unaprechiated. I contacted my local maternity hospital and asked what they wanted they were quite specific small pull on hats for the prem unit and little knitted triangles to tuck into bras for mums who's little ones are in special care ( to help transfer the scent of mum to help babe bond) they emailed me some patterns and I drop my knitting off directly to them, it is always alrechiated. Maybe you could ask your local hospital what they need?SPC~12 ot 124

Thank you for the welcome Mrs. Moneypenny. I think in a way I was more concerned that over the years I have been breaking trading standards laws. I think in all we had raised over £1000.00 for our charity, every garment was made with new yarn and had new buttons and labelled as such. It is only now that my mobility prevents me from getting up in the loft and I am steadily running out of storage space downstairs I have been working on using up my yarn before buying more. So far this year I have made 4 blankets for the dog shelter , 18 hats for the seafarers mission, 6 toddlers cardigans, 6 bonnets and a cot size blanket. Only one more box of yarn to go and that was for making the Jane Greenhow dolls. I am sure I will find a good home for the articles. I think yesterday I just needed to let off steam. Once again thankyou0

Paddeewhat a wonderful woolly contribution you have made over time. I am sorry your mobility is causing you problems. Mrs Moneypenny has a brilliant idea about the local hospital.
