Hello, everyone. I am very very guilty of neglecting this group for a couple of weeks, and for that I apologise. Life takes over and, before you know it, the time has whizzed by.
I hope all is well with you all. I see that Roamin has linked to our fantastic Pinterest group board, which is proving very successful and is the perfect place for pinning all the patterns, tutorials, and so on that we all find. To join, all you need to do is 'follow' the board, and an email will automatically be triggered asking me to 'invite' you to join, then you can pin at any time. We are working on a way of having sub-categories on there (for listing specific groups of things - Christmas, Preemie, and so on) but at the moment we can't find a way of doing that under the Knit Your Square board. We are working on it, though.
Chalky - I hope you are having a wonderful time with William!
Nursemaggie - have a lovely time in Malta; my DH lived there for a few years as a child when his father was posted there by the Royal Navy. He loved it there.
Ginnyknit - I hope the craft fair goes really well!
Mrs Moneypenny - I am so glad you have joined our Pinterest board!
Pippa - is that Brean Down? If so, it's just a few miles from my home town of Weston-super-Mare. I hope you have a good time and that you can offload Edna while you are away.
Elaine - I bet you had the most wonderful time with Jean! I can just imagine!
My Mum's funeral went as well as such things can do. Much sadness, but a lot of reliving memories with our huge extended family. Mum would have loved it, bless her, seeing how many people wanted to say goodbye to her. I miss her, but I am still so relieved that she is no longer suffering. It was becoming unbearable for her.
Sam is doing as well as can be right now. He has had his last heavy dose of chemo and is slowly recovering from that. He will soon be on 'maintenance' which will be much less harsh, and he can get back to as normal a life as possible, apart from regular lumbar tests and so on. He is due to have the chemo line taken out some time in October and, all being well, they may all be able to come over for a short trip. Sam really wants to come back here because he enjoyed it so much last year. We will have to be careful with his diet (no 'live' foods like yoghurt, no tap water, nothing even slightly past its 'sell-by-date', things like that) and we have to let his hospital have the details of our local ones in case of emergencies. His mum and dad are well used to catering for him now, but it's been a real learning curve for all of them. Sam himself is quite upbeat, which is great. He knows the doctors are confident of a good outcome - he just has to get through it, bless him. He still has to have twice daily injections to clear two blood clots, but they are working well, and his mum and dad have been trained to give them to him, which was a condition of being allowed to live at home. He still hates needles, they hate having to do it, but they are getting used to it all. As my son says, this is their new normal, and life will never be quite the same again. I am just so relieved that the variant of the disease he has is easier to treat than some of the others. He loves how his gorgeous blanket looks on his bed. I should ask him to send me a photo to share.
Anyway, thanks to Jean for doing the update and, now that my visits to the UK are over for a while, I hope to be able to concentrate more of this group, and our lovely members.
Hugs to you all.

hello all
and bye-bye Edna :j:j:j
kathy - yes it was Brean Down and it was wonderful so peaceful the caravan park is called Warren Farm and the van was on Sunnyside field, we had a great time, went into Weston a few times and wandered along the front saw the new pier never went onto it as the weather was horrendous wet and far too windy but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of visiting happy places from our (much) younger days, and as far as the rain goes...well you can only get wet once any more makes no differenceI reckon the peace and quiet and just ambling along did us the power of good and helped give Edna the elbow :rotfl: (and maybe a few tipples of Malibu or Brandy and coke had a hand in it too)
ginny - I hope your craft fair went well
nursemaggie - I know I am late but enjoy every minute of your holiday

Kathy such a lot for you all to go through but such positivity especially from Sam.
Craft fair was a nice break from everyday life but only covered table and made £2 profit - oh well time to get on with it. Am having a sale on Gin and Pickle to move all the stock and get some money for some nice yarn then going on Folksy or Etsy.
Mrs Mp look forward to the pics xxClearing the junk to travel light

It's been a bit too hot for me but that is a terrific excuse for staying in doors and crafting.......

Back from Malta very late last night. Had a lovely time playing with DGS2. Feeling very tired today combination of late nights and early morning of being woken around 5am with DGS shouting grandma grandma. It's wonderful getting cuddles and playing with a two year old but I guess is very tiring. Air con broke down so we did not sleep so well too.
I suspect DD and SIL went to bed at the same time as him last night they were exhausted.
I will be going to Malta as often as I can get a cheap flight as DD and SIL will finish their second tour in Saudi Arabia next June and plan to settle permanently in Malta. There are lots of language schools on the island. It is the most appropriate place for them to be able to use there skills. They are both in their 40s and have been traveling the world teaching English since their early 20s so they feel they need to settle before their son goes to school.
I won't see them if I don't go without to save up to visit them. This was my first holiday for nearly 7 years.0 -
evening all
