      1. Small Baby Cardie by Theresa Roberts.
By Theresa Roberts on Tuesday, 3 March 2015 at 20:27
Knitted in DK yarn on no.8 /4mm needles.Garter stitch(all rows knit).Takes aprox 25 grms of yarn and about two hours to knit. Tension or finished measurements is not crucial.
Worked from the bottom up,in one peice up to arm holes.

    Larger size in brackets..Measures 16/17ins chest..7ins back legnth..takes about 60grams of yarn.

Cast on 40 sts (60 sts) Knit 2 rows.
Increase row.knit 2 sts.inc in next st. knit to last 3 sts,inc in next st. knit 2.
Repeat this row until you have 60sts (90 sts).
knit straight until 26 rows (40 rows) have been knitted from the cast on.

    Buttonhole row. knit 2 sts..yarn forward,knit 2tog..knit to end.
    Divide for back and fronts...
knit to last 16 sts (23 sts ) put these sts onto a sts holder.
Cast on 5 sts (24 sts) at beg of next row,(for sleeve )knit these 5 sts (24 sts) and continue across row until last 16 sts (23sts)
put these 16 sts (23 sts) onto a st holder.)cast on 5 sts (24 sts) at beg of next row,( for sleeve ) knit these 5 sts (24 sts ) and rest of row..This is the back.knit 20 rows (30 rows ) on these sts. Cast off loose....

Work fronts**Put 16 sts (23 sts ) back onto needles.Join yarn...cast on 5 sts (24 sts ) knit these sts and rest of row..

front edge decrease row...knit 2 sts.knit 2tog.. knit to end of row..
    knit 1 row.
repeat these 2 rows, until 12 sts (38 sts ) left..knit straight until front measures same as back..cast off shoulder sts.**

repeat from** for the other front..
join shoulder and under arm seam..sew on button. you're done.

Note this pattern as written, gives the small size ,little cap sleeves, and the larger size long sleeves.

    Hope this makes sense.
Please enjoy this pattern, you may gift or sell the cardies. Please DO NOT try to sell this pattern,or alter it to call it your own....many thanks.

Thanks Jean. I am having a little mini obsession with these cute little carries at the moment. I have decided as they are for such wee ones only to use the softest yarn and it's such a pleasure to knit with. I am going to add a little embroidery detail to the next one.

We are going to Spain for a fortnight tomorrow with Andy's sister and her husband. There is a special Fiesta going on called the Moors and Christians. All VERY NOISY , NO health and safety and good fun .

mrs Moneypenny what a brilliant cause. I bet your blanket is super .

Love to one and all xxx

  • Well done Mrs Moneypenny - you did it in time! looks terrific too. I am having internet connectivity problems I believe the are digging up the street in the nearest little village and that ain't helping me one jot..... all fine for about 5 minutes try to do something on line and it all goes to RATS. It's been going on for a couple of days now with no let up - they obviously work at their own rate. Consolation is they won't work weekends so perhaps I can catch up with everyone and everything I am making a list of stuff I needed to look up or order on line today so will get around to it over the weekend. Loads of love and squishy cuddles to you all.

Thats a pretty blanket Mrs MP.

Im totally addicted to Marinnes patterns and the little cardi Chalky did too. Im going to make up a parcel for St Marys soon. They also fit dolls and some teddies so are very useful for dressing toys up. I sent a wee parcel to Operation Orphan the other day so feeling happy about that. Dd is being given loads of baby clothes and those she doesnt keep or pass on are going to the Cs's but Im pinching the socks and vests for parcels as its the basics people need I think.

Just got my Stylecraft special yarn with my Amazon voucher so am starting a set for my future DGD - so exciting :T:T:T:T

    Hi, everyone

The cardies are lovely, and have even got me knitting again after years of being unable to due to pain; Maytaurus suggested I just aim for knitting small things, and I've almost finished one of the cardies, so I need to thank Maytaurus for the suggestion, and Chalky for finding the pattern, and the encouragement of everyone else. Jean, did you have to put the photo on Flickr first before uploading it on here?

Mrs Moneypenny - that blanket is gorgeous. Do you think you couldn't sleep because it was on your mind? How is Alfie, by the way?

Jean - I hope they've stopped digging up your road by now. Well, they won't work Saturdays, will they?

Chalky - hope you have a lovely time in Spain.

Well, the heatwave we were promised lasted a whole day - it was baking hot and sunny all day yesterday, but today we have light cloud and no sun at the moment. Hope it's better for the rest of you.

Lots of hugs to you all.

    Morning all
    Hope everyone is well
Alfie is gorgeous, he's started smiling now babbling and sort of giggling now I've not seen him this week as they are off to a wedding but I was on the phone to DD2 yesterday and could hear him in the background.
He's been swimming and wriggly readers this week apparently. He has a better social life than me!!
I think it was probably because I was thinking about the blanket needed to be finished that I couldn't sleep Kathy I'm pleased with how it's turned out and am happy to help such a good cause.
How is Sam? As well as can be I hope.

Hugs to all just got to put the shopping away now and get mils ready to take round to hers. Weather not as nice as it was yesterday here, it's quite windy.
