Hi ladies - lovely to see you back kathy - congratulations on the news of the new Gchild on way - how exciting for you and something for us "aunties" to look forward to next year xxxx
chalky - oh you made me chuckle - do you want the "van" thats coming to take me away to pick you and hubby up too ???? - I think roamin asked to be collected so we are going to be going on a nice trip xxxx
sock-knitter - before having my teeth all out i used to get horrendous pain in ears, jaw, and would you believe near the nose ..... I really sympathise and I have to say the pain was so bad on a number of occasions that you just feel like banging your head on a brick wall - now dont laugh but I used to lay in the bath with my head under the water - no not fully just so the nose and mouth were poking out - wheat bag is a good idea - antibiotics might take a few days to kick in - years ago when they took a couple out I ended up with a "dry socket" and the pain was awful (but then I got told off because I smoke - whooopppppssssss - naughty me) xxxx
psso - am pleased to hear DD did not suffer with her tooth - dont worry heating switch here has been clicked a few times in last week - but keep it secret and dont tell my Dad he would tell me off :rotfl:
well we had some drama here last night - bang on the door at nearly 9.00 last night - distraught lady asking did we have a cat as there was one in the road - she had not done it but had come up the road to find it writhing around - had only really just happened - well hubby asked me to phone emergency vet to say on way - lady scooped it up in a towel - dh was going green as the scene was not pretty and so as not to upset the children or anyone else I proceeded to wash the road down - lady came back to say sadly cat had died but she was crying then i started - what made us all mad was that someone who most probably lives (as its a cul-de-sac and not a through road) here had left it - poor poor little thing - so have felt a bit emotional since then
we had friends to visit today and you know I said i was really chuffed as i had managed two pull on hats so felt useful again - well the lady liked them so much she took two one for her and one for the daughter hmmmmmmm great that they liked them - not so great for my charity pile
DS is moaning that im starving him and before he rings NSPCC I had better feed him - I have a corner to corner blanket on the go with wool from Poundstretcher and oh my its coming up soooooooo soft Im really pleased
Love and hugs to all - have a lovely evening xxxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -

(((Hugs))) to all those with dental pain - there's nothing worse.
F1widow - smoking is the prime cause of dry socket (which, as you probably know, is as painful as an abscess) so it really is best to avoid it for a few hours! When I was a dental nurse I lost count of the patients we told not to smoke after an extraction, and there they were lighting up as they left the surgery!
That poor poor cat - at least the right sort of help was sought and he wasn't left to die in the road. I can understand how emotional it would have made you.
Well, I seem to have had the washing machine on all day but at least it's dried well in the lovely sun we've had. I hate to tell you this but it's been really nice today! Hope it keeps up - I have to take all the bedlinen from the holiday home tomorrow!
Well, I still haven't caught up with you all but will try to tomorrow.

dentist said that i had a dry socket yesterday, i stupidly thought it was cos my mouth was dry, as i hadnt drunk much water :rotfl:
didnt know that smoking caused tooth pain either, but then again i dont smoke so dont know what caused mine. anyway the wheat in my mirrowave dog is doing the trick.
just put the heating on for an hour, only to discover the one in the living room isnt getting hot, glad i found out now before it gets really cold, i'll get council to look at it next week.
f1, that ppor cat, no wonder your feeling emotional, glad your friends liked the hats that you made, and that your feeling useful again, as for your ds, i bet he be starving again 10 mins after being fed, if hes anything like my two, they got botttomless pits for a stomach lol
no knitting done today, but i did get halfway through the bag of tangled yarn
hugs all
shaz xxxloves to knit and crochet for others0 -
Kathy - your right I learned my lesson that time and thereafter wouldnt touch a cigarette after dentist even though my nerves were screaming at me - I had no one else to blame but myself although I must admit I would be too embarrased to light up leaving the surgery or even a little way outside
sock-knitter - yes ds is hollow from top to bottom - I actually started to worry sometimes as when he begs for food and i have to refuse he gets so upset and says why am i always hungry - he is a little on the big side so we do have to watch his food and what he eats and cannot have goodies in the cupboard - people say oh if he really is hungry he will eat really healthy stuff and I say oh yes we do that with him ie well if you are hungry you can have fruit, a yogurt, cut up carrot etc and yes he will lap it up - still Im fighting a loosing battle he was "overweight" according to the health visitors when he was about 2-3 months old - he was too heavy for his length??? - he is the same shape as my DH !!!!! its just like having "mini me" with them two - I said when he was a baby how can i overfeed milk - he never wasted a drop - not even on a burp! - and yet other babies if they had had too much - well I think you can guess where it came out :rotfl:still he is my lovely son and I would not change him for the world
Anyway i should stop whittering - night night all off to get more blanket done xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Hi everyone
Still haven't caught up with the thread but, as it's Sunday, I will take a leisurely stroll through the posts I've missed a bit later.
F1widow - the very worst thing was when patients smoked just before they came in! They'd be hanging around the door outside until their name was called, then would quickly stub the fag out! And that was despite notices in the waiting room asking them not to! I don't know which was worse - the family who sat in the waiting room eating pie and chips before they were all called in, or the children who sat sucking on lollies and drinking coke - yes, they all really happened! Then we had a young woman who called back in to say that her veneers had chipped off - she crunched on a packet of Polo mints while she waited!
Anyway, it's been about four years since I stopped working in the surgery and writing about it has just reminded me about it all!
Well, I woke up early but then I had a reasonably early night for a change. Having had late nights for most of the ten days we were away, enhanced by a fair amount of alcohol, it made a change!
I'm having a change from IS hats and have just started on some name banners (ah la Chalky but I'm crocheting them instead of knitting because it's easier on my hands) for C*******s pressies. They work up really quickly but I still have to decide how to apply the letters. Of course, I shall have to make one for the new baby when it arrives - just hope they don't choose a very long name for it!
Off to the holiday home this morning to bring back all the laundry - I shall leave the big clean up until the end of the week when I'm a bit more organised round here!
When we were away we picked up enough doors and bits to get the kitchen and the utility room completed. We have to add a few more cupboards that we already had in storage, but DH was reluctant to fit them without the doors and handles. This means that I will shortly be in chaos again what with sorting out the units, plastering the walls and ceilings and tiling - oh, I just can't wait! Still, it should be done over the next month or so and will be worth the wait.
I hope those with sore mouths are feeling a lot better today.
Thank you all for your congratulations on the forthcoming baby - it will surely have a lot of Aunties from here!
Hope you all have a brilliant day!

Just popping back with a photo of the wool I bought. The little bag at the side I found in a charity shop for just 99p!
It has lots of useful oddments that will get used up over time.
and a photo of just some of the peaches we picked yesterday from the tree in the garden. You would not believe how sweet and tasty they are! We will give some to our neighbours and I will preserve some, too.

CONGRATS on the new baby announcement!
I hope all goes well with your DGD1
Any news about Louis?
Linda ... all those things sound perfectly normal to me :rotfl:
In Search Of Me ... Glad to hear the kitty blankets are arriving ... p’raps you could take a pic before you deliver them?
Jacqui ...... I hope you’re feeling better
So sad to hear about the kitty ...
I’ve always said if I got a cat, it would have to be a house cat or on a lead, as I couldn’t bear not knowing where it was or what was happening to it ... I just don’t see them as being any different to my doggies
Can you get the van to pick me up as well please?
PSSO ... Re ”are we strange ??”
I’m sure I don’t know what you mean ....
I’m afraid the disguise didn’t work JEAN ! :rotfl:
To you all

Morning everyone, very wet here today.
mioliere the peaches look scrummy even at this time of morning. Don't you just love finding bargain bags of wool, and getting home and gloating over it? ok so I'm easily pleased:)
Talking about teeth (shudder) my OH chipped one yesterday, sis lost half a one last week, none of us have many left. The joys of senior life. Hope you're feeling a bit better Shaz, it's the most miserable pain.
That poor little cat f1widow, I don't understand people just driving off. I've lost a couple of cats to the road here. Twenty years ago when we moved here there was only a couple of cars and the odd tractor went past, but now it's non stop, which is the main reason I haven't replaced my cats. Still feeding visiting ones though.
Love to everyone xxx0 -
