Good job we cannot pass on colds on here. All of us that go on lots of threads would have permanent colds as there always seems to be several people with colds. I think I have got rid of mine today I have not coughed, sneezed, or had a runny nose at all today.

Welcome azzabazza. I am wondering if late winter or early spring is not a time we go off knitting when we have spent a lot of time indoors knitting. The nights seem to be drawing out quite fast now. Perhaps it is time for a change. I can certainly put mine down for an hour and am not feeling any pull to pick it up again.

Just popping by to say I had the most amazing afternoon :D I went to see the knitted bible at Ryton Methodist church (Tyne & Wear)
There were around 35 or so 'stories' from the bible made of knitted people and animals etc. If you get the chance to see it I would recommend going. It was originally made by ladies in Hartlepool and I'm sure you can see something on the interwebby thing if you look.

Hola to one and all! Sorry to have been MIA this week. Arrived in Sosin after a very successful drive. I did not mean to lead people as try ... It was 2 hours in the Uk and then about 2 and a bit in Spain. BUT. DOH is not a good passenger on roads that I know and it was my first time in Soain from the airport. But all was well.

I have read back and firstly WELCOME to our new Crafty friends. Please stay awhile.

Secondly the gentlest thoughts to everyone with their hands overflowing just now... And that seems quite a lot.

Kathyi think of you every day and just send our loving wishes as these days pan out. Such a hard, hard time even if things are looking brighter. A day at a time to that light at then end of the tunnel.

I have been busy hooking chickens for the Charity shops here and also planning out a new baby's playmate for our new great niece Ava Therese who was born in the USA this week. Seems a long way away just now.

I hope the sun is shining on you, I hope the gentle breeze is with you and I hope the signs of Spring are brightening your days.

Lots of love Cyber sisters xxxxxxx
Try and do a good deed every day.

Hi, everyone, and thanks for your continuing good wishes for Sam. He is doing as well as can be, but feeling tired for much of the time. He is still at home for most of the time, which is brilliant for the whole family. He was due to go in for treatment today, so I hope to hear from my son later on.

Jean - you were right about CPAM. I went into a little satellite branch in our local hospital, and the lady could not have been kinder, or more efficient. Because I already had my carte vitale, she swiped it in her machine, and it will update me from RSI to CPAM when I officially retire. She said I have to apply to the UK for my EHIC (to replace the CEAM) but the automated phone system I tried yesterday didn't allow me to give a French address. However, I found a form online, so will print that off and send it instead. I didn't even have to wait long in the waiting room at CPAM, despite there being five other people before me in the queue. The lady was dispatching them really quickly.

PSSO - I had to wait until I was 62 years and six months old, and it really annoys me because I definitely feel cheated out of what I was told to expect all the time I was working and paying my dues. They give enough money away to people who have never contributed, don't they? I have learned that they can't change the goal posts until after 2026, so you should be safe! Hope work is going well for you.

Pippa - I have replied to your pm.

Mrs CD - that knitted bible looks amazing; I've just Google it and found this: http://www.stgeorgesurc.co.uk/?page_id=448 which has some great photos of all the fantastic work that has gone into it.

Nursemaggie and Azzabazza - I think knitting and so on does tail off a bit at certain times of year, especially as we all like to make the most of the good weather when it finally arrives. Sometimes, having a break from it does you good and when you go back to it, it's like finding an old friend. I think most of us would go mad without doing something creative in the long dark months of winter!

Mrs Moneypenny - I hope you enjoyed your day off!

I'm just off to do the update. I have managed two animal blankets using some non-human friendly chunky wool, so that will be added to the the bag of things I will be taking back with me. I'm currently doing something along the lines of this for my Mum for Mothering Sunday http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/falling-leaves-pillow

Will pop back when I've done the update to post the link to it!

Hope everyone is well, and the poorly loved ones, too.

Oops, I was going to do the update but, Jean, just checked and saw that you accessed the spreadsheet on the 12th. Did you add anything since my last update? I'll wait to hear from you first, before I mess it up!

Hi, Chalky - good to hear from you, and that you successfully found your way to Spain as the driver! I know how nerve-wracking that sort of driving can be, and I've only driven as far as France! Well done; that's a great achievement, especially with a DH that is (like most of them) not a good passenger! Thanks for your good wishes for Sam; I know he is in your thoughts, and I was so glad that I could update you by text when I knew you were going to be AWOL while you were travelling.

Will wait to hear from Jean before I do the update.

Hi, everyone. I hope the weather is not too bad where you all are. We've had wet and windy but, so far, not as bad as was predicted, at least in our corner of France.

Thanks, Jean; I will get on with the update a bit later today.

We've had some more news about my grandson, Sam. He's had some more tests (cytogenetic) that have shown a genetic marker that is favourable in terms of prognosis. Basically, the doctors have said that he has the most common variant of this form of leukaemia, and this increases the chances that he will continue to respond well to the treatment. They have said that there are no guarantees, but it all helps. He is on a treatment trial (which he, and his mum and dad, all opted for after a lot of discussion with the doctors) and they have to decide whether or not to continue with that - it would mean that the treatment would be 'randomised' between four different variants which in turn might help his chances and help mitigate the side effects - or do the opposite. As my son says - what a choice. It's a huge decision to make and, much as we wish we could help, as grandparents, we can't influence them - they already know far more about this than we do. I think it's going to be a long weekend for everyone but at least for now the outlook is looking more positive, and we are cautiously optimistic.

One of the best things about all this is that he is at home most of the time, and only goes to hospital for treatment and consultations. This is where luck comes in because they live close enough to the hospital to be able to get there within a short space of time. Other patients come from much further away and have to stay in hospital all the time, so their parents have a much harder time of it. My son and his wife are so grateful to be living close to one of the best hospitals in the country.

    Will pop back later.
