I have been trying to refresh my crocheting skills can't get past the start as soon as they say "ya wanna" I have lost them. Is there someone who does it in English and not American? I just can't follow them. They all hold the hook different and they all hold the wool different so I am going no where.

If not can I knit my squares and I will leave out Mrs Twins because I can't follow crochet patterns either.

    NURSEMAGGIE - try this link

she has a whole load of info vids speaks english and talks stitches in english too. Once you get the basics the Canadian Mikey (at Crochet Crowd) is very easy to follow. Or follow pictures only Lucy on Attick24 or for that matter Chalky on her blog. My problem is that they call the stitches different things - DOES MY HEAD IN but I now know how to convert written patterns first so I can get on with the projects. Good Luck with that one - failing that there is always ME on skype.........well it worked for F1!

Hi everyone on this cold but sunny day. I was just getting excited about getting some washing actually outside on the line (a rare treat this winter!), and my neighbouring farmer has lit yet another bonfire. It seems as soon as we have a good day for drying the washing, he lights a fire. He's a nice chap and I won't complain, but I wonder why his wife doesn't say anything to him? It drives me mad! Rant over!

I hope you are all feeling good.

Pippa - welcome back to you, and thanks for your kind words. I hope you had a good time.

Jean - hope DH is doing well. I know what Nursemaggie feels about the patterns but I think I've just got used to the different stitches now!

Nursemaggie - I am sure Mrs Twins will be just as happy with a knitted square. Why don't you ask here?

Chalky - hope you have a safe trip to Spain, especially as you are doing the driving! I was dreading driving all the way to France in my car, but I got there in the end - I only got lost once! At least you have DH with you!

Ginny - hope your OH is doing well.

No fresh news about Sam. He is having his last morning of the week at school, then will be in hospital tomorrow having a line fitted, and the big day (the one I am really anxious about) will be Friday, when the doctors have the bone marrow test results back, so we are just keeping everything crossed.

I have done a Mrs Twins square so will be sending that off, but I have done the same square for Theemuts on Ravelry but don't know where to send that. She's in Belgium, apparently, so it makes sense for me to post it directly to her rather than to Mrs Twins who will have to send it to her. Does anyone have her address? I asked on the Ravelry thread a few days ago, but haven't heard back.

Anyway, I am going to start a big blanket now - I have some wool to use up now so that I can stock up again when we go back to the UK for a visit, and I like having a big project on the go.

Will do the update later; I need to go out and do some shopping. It will be my first day out since I sprained my ankle last Wednesday - I haven't been able to get boots or shoes on since then because it was so swollen; it's gone down enough to get my walking boots on, so at least I can get out now. I've been going stir crazy!

Pippa, thanks for the second address. I replied to your pm but got a message saying that I had to empty my pm box before I could send any more messages, so I'm not sure if you have received it!

    Thanks
