i do hope everyone is as well as they can possibly be and the illnesses and bugs that have been getting the members of the knitting group and their loved ones are now in the most part undercontrol.

mils hospital visit was not brill last week it was confirmed in no uncertain terms that the radiotherapy is a 2 week course given just to control the symptoms and not a cure. the last treatment is today and as far as they are concerned no more will be offered future appt will be to monitor and manage symptoms pain and side effects.
it was hard to sit and listen to mil and DH being told this. obviously i understand the reasons they are giving but it doesnt make things any easier to bear. the hope is the therapy has zapped enough cells that it will take them a while to regroup so mil can get on with doing what she does and to enjoy her life. but she is obviously quite down and feeling dejected now the radiotherapy has upset her stomach and she looked so sad on sunday when we went round. thankfully weve had an appt letter from the gp re her fractured vertebra so hopefully we will be offered some more pain relief for her for that.

hugs to all - and thank you all for the kind thoughts and support you have given us. i keep trying to gee mil on with the news that she has her first great grandchild to look forward to next year i just hope things can stay well for her for this time

Mrs mp sending hugs a plenty, your Mil will go through the range of emotions that accompany the news but eventually she will decide to get on and enjoy life as much as possible. Babies always make life that bit brighter, Hubby always says its Dgs thats keeping him going. xx

Hubby has a lovely shiny black eye - bent down to a cupboard and hit the edge of the work surface  Quiet day today, parcles to post and immersion heater being fixed later -:T showers are fine but goodness I love and miss my bath!

Dgs has decided to let us in on a secret - he can spell and read :j we had an idea as he googled 'Mr Maker' on his tablet. Now he is making words with his beloved alphabet blocks and reading things on tv.

    hugs to all

Chalky, was so sad to read about the fate of your blanket. I was thinking of taking a table at the school Christmas fayre to try to sell some of my blankets in aid of the BHF. Not sure if I will now. Have ' bought' a square ;)while I was over there.

Been naughty and bought some more supplies, well I was browsing t'internet and my finger slipped :D Was actually looking for grey buttons about the size of a 50p but got distracted.

Off to read back and see what's been happening.

chalky i was sad to see what a low price was put on your lap blanket, i honestly think people who dont craft appreciate the 'value' of home made items.
i still have a shirt to put in the post to you i meant to do it yesterday when a duck was sent off via the post to be 'found' when i do get myself in gear and post it (if you are still accepting them that is?) i will pop a 31 in the package and buy a square off you as well

stated making little knitted stockings for my class at school, if i dont start early i wont get them all done.

hugs to all and i hope everyone is as well as can be.

Well as always the kindnesses here warm the cockles of my heart and wings of my soul. Thank you all so much especially for such supportive comments about the demise of the Lappy.

This incident happened in Spain where there is a charity supporting cancer victims of every nationality. I wanted to help the area we love and where we spend our winters.
I actually made an appointment to see the local area manager to see what she thought would sell and ...... She never even turned up for the appointment!!!! So, that was the end of that. The blanket came back to the Uk with me and I just buy books etc from the shop.
I had a very different experience lately in Oxfam, save the children and the Red Cross in the Uk .Very professional and appreciative

However, I am glad I have thought of this Blanket of a Hope idea as I feel it works on every level. Someone might be lucky enough to win a blanket but also that very blanket raises at least 25 Euros for such a deserving cause.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and for your words of support.
    Love Linda
