    Elaine - here's a link to their website. I warn you, there's a lot of temptation! http://buttonaholics.co.uk/

And here's a link to their FB page https://www.facebook.com/Buttonaholics

I don't actually need any buttons, but that didn't stop me placing an order!

I'm glad you decided not to go round the block if you felt tired; you're body is telling you to take it easy.

Good morning everyone. Lots of love tucked in on this Sunday morning.
I am on the last leg.... The last cupboard to pull out. I have found such treasures that I think I stuffed quickly up into any available cupboard after the big build nearly three years ago.
Rotary cutter and small mat for one.

It has been a busy weekend for us. Having Archiw the Westie... He has been as good as gold.
Then the 30th BBQ yesterday which went really well. The Pavalovas disappeared within seconds. Everyone loves them including my Dh! There was one slice left as we were coming home so he thought he should rescue that one!

Today it is DD1's partners birthday so we are to have a celebratory lunch. But no cooking needed but I may whip up a coffee cake in a minute as that is his favourite.

Then DSIL and BIL arrive back to collect their doggie.

All this tidying has precluded any crafty work but I have finished another batch of hedgies. Helped so much by the lovely friends here who have sent them. I wanted to make sure if I got the call whilst William is here they would be done. They do a wonderful job at the hospital. Last week I heard how somebody found one in their drive. It obviously should have been in hibernation. It was apparently so cold and rolling around. They took it to the hospital where it was put in the special care unit. The centre discovered two ticks in its ears which they think were disorientating it and make it giddy. Imagine how the poor little thing would have suffered. I think everyone loves hedgehogs. Thank to Beatrix Potter I guess.

Right take it easy one and all especially hothouse under the weather, under the duvet or under doctors orders. Xx

done out of the last piece of pavlova!! I could go off in a strop but realise that one piece would only increase one thigh...I needed two pieces to keep me even.
Just been and read sharkys news its so exciting when the kids come home for a holiday - I am a bit miffed this summer as DS and DH will spend the first week of THEIR hols in the UK watching the fellas on the bikes in Yorkie pudding land/London etc then the second week back here in France. Cutting time at our place a bit but I will fill the freezer next week with all sorts of goodies so I have plenty of time to sit and chew the fat. Like you Chalky I am getting a wee bit excited..............Oh and have you programmed in the visit to me for the tidy and clear up of craftyness at my dump????

This is the first poem a friend wrote to accompany the monster quilt

    THE MONSTER PARTY

Lots of little monsters were having so much fun
Jumping on the bed with a big sticky bun,
Along came William in his wellies and his hat
And said very sternly "Now stop all that!
You're making such a mess of my new bedspread
I think you should all go outside instead!"
All the little monsters hung their heads in shame
And sorrowfully said "It was just a game
We didn't really mean to make such a to do
We promise we'll clean it all up for you."
Later that night getting ready for bed
William peeped round his door and in astonishment said
"Grandma look! my quilt, it's so soft and so clean
As if a monster party there never has been!"
Grandma smiled as she whispered"Things aren't always what they seem
Perhaps it was just a lovely fun dream."
William sighed as he snuggled and settled to sleep,
"Grandma, I love all my monsters and forever will keep."

And this is the second which arrived by email this evening.

    A MONSTER MESS
All the little monsters had been quiet for long enough,
"It's time" they said "for some exciting stuff!"
They all scrambled up and looking around'
They quickly slithered down to the ground.
Into the kitchen they stealthily crept,
Where everything was so tidily kept.
They opened the cupboards and looked inside,
    Cooking utensils they soon espied.
"So" they all mused,"what shall we make?"
"I know" said one "let's bake a cake."
"It will be so much fun and easy to do
And a lovely surprise for William too!"
They scrabbled around and out came the lot,
    Every utensil and every pot!
In went bananas, pickles and jam,
Potatoes, cornflakes and even some ham,
Some flour and some milk, butter and custard'
They even added a spoonful of mustard!
"That's it "they all cried "Now wasn't that fun"
"We'll give it a stir and then it's all done!"
All of a sudden the door opened a crack
"Oh no! William and Grandma are back,
Oh what shall we do? we mustn't be found"
And they tiptoed away without making a sound.
In the kitchen William and Grandma stared in surprise,
What on earth was that mess infront of their eyes?
They puzzled and puzzled but nobody knew
The tale that I'm now telling to you!

What a wonderful thing.... I can not believe this quilt has become so much more than material.

jean I know you will gave the best time too x
Never got round to the coffee cake and was so glad I didn't as their other friends arrived with a Hummmingbird bakery Cook-bake cake that was awesome xxx

    Hi

I thought you guys might like this https://www.bernat.com

just put that in your browser and click on free patterns. You will go to another site but it will get you thousands of free patterns many perfect for raising funds for charity. Just dowload and print if you can.

Something I used to do when DD was a guide. I used to spend most of the winter knitting all sorts of things, my most popular were bed-socks for old ladies and brownies dolls. To make bed-socks that stay on you need and old baby bootie pattern with ribbon or make your own ties preferably in 2 or 3 ply. Knit it in double knitting on larger needles and vary the length of the foot. I used to have orders for them up to a year ahead.

When the RNLI had there coffee morning I used to pay for a stall in the autumn and the Guides had a coffee morning just before Christmas. Just about every child in the village had my mittens they were a big seller too. Everyone in the village used to give me their scraps of wool. You would be surprised how I managed to use the smallest amounts.

Hi Nursemaggie. Welcome to you and thank you so much for that great link, and for the info about making bed-socks. It must have been very satisfying to see all the local children wearing your mittens in the winter! We love being able to use up all the small scraps of wool we end up with A great favourite for us here is the Innocent Smoothie project - I don't know if you've heard of it? Here's a link http://thebigknit.co.uk/ This is my current project and it's such a good way of using up all the oddments. I do hope you join us; you will be assured of a very warm welcome from all of us here!

Oh the hats for the big knit are cute. I don't have any scraps at the moment. I gave up kitting about 8 years ago, maybe longer. I was getting a lot of pain in my hands when kitting.

A couple of years ago I bought a new hand knit jumper from a CS. It is big and I thought it would go over my other clothes and keep me warm rather turning up the heating. It was summer so I put it away and forgot about it.

Then we moved and I found it when packing. We moved in March and the new house was cold having been empty for most of the winter so I got it out. It had bat wings right down to below my waist and far to long. I looked ridiculous being only 4 ft 9ins. I took the sleeves out sewed up the sides a bit and it is fine as a cap sleeve jumper.

I had two huge balls of white chunky yarn so I made a hoodie for my one year old grandson. It did not hurt to knit any more. I have mad him another one in a different colour and I have started on a lacy top for me.

I will have some scraps soon. Took me 3 hours last night to download a few patterns for use through this winter. It starts off with a lot of silly little things though I am sure some of them will sell at bazaars. it gets on to bigger projects, never see so many throws, rugs and blankets, lots of jumpers cardigans etc, hats, gloves, the lot. The biggest project is a lacy coat or long cardigan.

The most annoying thing about giving up kitting is I got rid of three large black bags full of yarn. I could now use it all. Having just downsized I don't think I would have anywhere to put it.
