Kathy sounds like you had a wonderful time. I echo Mrs Mp's words, bittersweet came to mind as I read on. Great news that your Mum is safe where she is, its very important that you feel that. OOOh new yarn and in bulk by the sound of it - bliss :D

Chalky sounds like sweet William is on the mend, thank goodness. Im making a quilt too but still on the sewing fabric to paper stage...long way to go....

Psso glad to hear you are doing so well, keep up the good work. Hope you have some nice things to do lined up for when you are healed. xx

Im having a couple of hours to myself as Dd's Oh has taken hubby out. had a bad week after hospital including him falling out of bed yesterday and landing badly. He was having a bad dream, luckily his quilt had fallen off earlier and he had a bit of a cushion from that. He banged his face and his hand mainly but by teatime he was on his second bath as he was aching all over. Seemed a bit brighter this morning though, if a little creaky :o

Hugs to all, sock knitter are you feeling better after your difficult weekend? take care x

just a quick one I am off to clear up my Sis in Laws house before they arrive - just to freshen it all up and make the beds.
Yesterday went great with the shopping, kept my ankle strapped and wore my hightops tied up tight -DH did come - but I was forced to listen to his music choices all the way there and back - HELP ME! Also on the road home a stone/rock or nut came flying at the windscreen - so my little car is away to the garage this morning to get a new screen fitted - get it back tomorrow. DH has gone off to see the insurance on my behalf - they listen to MEN here - don't laugh it's my car and my insurance BUT himself has to deal with stuff, if I even went in with him they would totally ignore me and talk to him ...... yep that's modern France for you. Hey cutting this afternoon so I had better get a wiggle on........later lovlies (I will read back tonight but see Kathy has posted a nice long newsy one)......cuddles and love to you all

    Hi everyone

Ginnyknit - hope OH is doing as well as can be.

Elaine - hope you are still recovering well.

Chalky - how is William doing? Well, I hope.

Yes, Jean, I know the feeling. What hope have we got when the French don't even have a word for 'wife'? DH just loves introducing me as 'my woman'! Sorry you had such a day yesterday. I hope today is a little less challenging, and that your ankle is healing well!

If I have the name right, that Swedish shop is one I have never been to, ever since I heard that you are told which way to move around the store; I don't like being told how to shop! I do love the biscuit recipe that Chalky found that has the same word in its title, though!

DH has been working all this week so I've been catching up with housew**k, and working out a list of what else needs doing on the house. We have visitors coming in July (friends) and again in August (DS1 and his family). Fortunately, a new shop has opened near us which has a contract with Iceland Foods. I don't normally like too much frozen food (unless it's my own) but they have 'proper' sausages and 'proper' bacon, and other goodies that we can't get here. I've been working out an order. Their prices are very good. They have a delivery from the UK once a month, and the next one is for 30th June, so it's my only chance of getting the goodies for all the breakfasts I will be cooking for our visitors. When we collect the order, I will be able to see what else they sell. I think it's a shop that will do well with the ex-pats here, and maybe a few locals, too.

Well, I have a lovely pile of ironing to do, so I had better get on with it. Woolly-wise, I am making some more blankets with the new wool I bought, and I still have lots of scraps from my old stash, so I will do some Innocent Smoothie hats, too.

Warm and sunny here again; I could get so used to this!

    Lovely day here again...

jean - ouch hope its a bit better now sprained ankles are sooo painful...just you take it easy...but knowing you I could be wasting my breath ;)
kathy - your post was lovely to read and so touching, I am so pleased your Mom has settled it must make it easier for you knowing that she is happy, you all did so well finding her such a lovely place to live with such caring people looking after her
psso - so pleased to hear you are mending, but please don't go back to work until you feel fit and ready, never mind what the doc thinks he isn't the one who has been so poorly. Typical with little ones you give them a taste and they want the lot:rotfl:
shaz - I hope all is well with you now
chalky - Great news, it won't take him long to be his happy energetic self again...and you will be seeing him soon and smothering him in cuddles x
ginny - you will really enjoy the blossom street book, I bought the whole set for Mom she loved them such nice easy reading. I hope OH is feeling a little less creaky now

I have been crocheting butterfly's and as my hand is feeling a bit better gently knitting hedgies for our lovely chalky. Funny but I can crochet when it is hurting and it does'nt bother me at all but knitting seems to make it worse very odd

off to tidy up a little outside while the sun is shining,
TTFN and love to you all Anne x

I would dearly love to know who is stealing the odd days in my week - here we are it's bloomin Friday again and I am certain I missed out on Thursday!!
Strapping is off the ankle and I am on 'light duties' I do know if it goes again I won't be a happy bunny so I am taking care. Hairdresser today and the car will be ready lunch time so I can then go and get some groceries.
Have a wonderful day folks, loads of love and squishy cuddles to you all.

gentle healing hugs to your poorly ankle jean, hope its fully recovered soon. DH wouldnt mind weekdays being stolen as it would mean his weekends come round quicker but they seem to be getting increasingly shorter!!! who is the time thief that is shaving precious minutes off our hours????
shaz, hope you and yours are well and things are improving
brilliant news about our lovely little willam
ginny plan is to get to the PO next monday, strangely our local post box has been sealed, i asked and was told the local boxes are being painted soon so the signs have been taken off them all and stoppers put in their 'mouths' in readiness for painting. theyve been like it 3 days now. i feel sorry for anyone who needs to post anything urgently and cant walk far or doesnt have transport!!!

weather looking brilliant so have a good day all

Morning all, hope you and yours are well and not too many aches or pains.

Bit cloudy here right now but forecast says it will improve, hope so anyway, makes the trundle round the block more enjoyable if it's fine. Been doing it three times daily and hope to increase distance soon.

Well, looks like little J will have his first fishing trip with uncle S today at the trout fishery. That will be interesting. I'm going along for the trip, will be nice to go out for a while.

Woolly wise - the green and orange yarn which was whispering at me in the bedroom is being dealt with. Granny squares are piling up for the next blanket, edging them with lemon and will do the border with that as well. Bit brighter than the usual more pastel colours I have been doing but I'm sure someone somewhere will enjoy snuggling into it.

Off for the first walk of the day. Enjoy your Saturday.
