Maybe I forgot to update my signature previously....... or I just can't count, that would be more likely.
What on earth were you doing that you managed to twist your ankle, trip over your feet?

- hurtling around obviously was the cause of the sprain/strain - right ankle is strapped and I am 'trying' very hard to stay in one place - left hand is working fine after a lovely sleepy, am only going to do crochet today.............the not so good news is that I am expected to go to that big Swedish shop in Brest tomorrow (the place I hate) and pick up some bits and bobs for my sis in law (she is arriving on Wednesday) - I could always wear my wellies!! The only bonus is that I get to have lunch out - anywhere I like and a visit to the gardening shop as well. Am going to see if DH would really really like to either go and get the things or at least come with me - chances of any of those options might be slim - I will volunteer to pay for the lunch that might swing it.
Ye all have a terrific day - enjoy doing things you like, love and cuddles to you all - they are the big squishy cuddles by the way - just what everyone needs now and againThe Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Just popping in after being in the quilting sweatshop with my lovely friend. I am now totally in awe of quilters. Totally, totally tricky but apart from a mega hand sewing stint the monster quilt is ready for William's holiday. Whoop ,whoop.
Thank you for thinking of him. He is a bit hobbly and one leg is turning out at the moment but he is walking everywhere. Swimming every day and brighter in himself. So, hopefully soon will be running around.
I have managed to catch up and have so enjoyed reading all your posts. Lots of the gentlest hugs to all and after a few days taking DSIL to Cornwall normal service here at Chalky's will resume!!!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone
Chalky - I am so pleased that William is now walking around, and he has his lovely new quilt to look forward to!
Jean - stop hurtling around! I can just imagine you running around at breakneck speed. I hope you are resting that ankle. I've sprained one of mine several times and it really hurts, so I do sympathise.
Well, I should have come back on here yesterday but I got carried away with the baking; I love baking but hate all the clearing up. Still, we now have plenty of cakes and biscuits.
Our trip back home was just wonderful. My mum is looking very well physically because, after losing her appetite after first moving in to the care home, she is now eating regularly and has put on some weight. Her mind, however, is not doing so well. She was so pleased to see me that it made us both cry. She squeezed me so tight, I thought she would never let go. Her long term memory is very clear, but she can't remember what she said just two minutes ago, so is very repetitive. It's really sad to see and we are all dreading the time when she no longer recognises any of us. She is safe, though, and you can tell that the care home staff are a really kind and dedicated bunch. All of the residents look happy and contented, and it fills me with relief to know that she is in such a good place.
My sister is coping well after losing my DBIL last year (can you believe that it was ten months ago?). I know she has her dark and sad moments, but she knows that this is a new unexpected chapter in her life, and she is 'getting on with it', if you know what I mean. It still seems very strange to both DH and I - we keep expecting DBIL to walk into the room at any time; his presence is everywhere.
We had wonderful times with the children and grandchildren, who have all grown at least six inches each! My grandson is now almost as tall as me; I could hardly believe it when I saw him. They are all really well and happy and so busy with all their various activities. My DGD1's final operation on her hand did the trick. Originally, it was thought she had trigger thumb (a real drag seeing as she is mad on cricket) but, after two operations, they discovered an extra bit of bone growing in her hand, so they removed it, and she is going from strength to strength. She is now playing cricket for Hampshire County Under 15 ladies and, apparently, is a match for anyone at batting and bowling. You wouldn't think it to look at her because she is so girly!
DGD2 and DGD3 are both so gorgeous and full of beans and we had a lot of fun with them.
We had a few vino collapsio sessions with the friends we stay with; we always have such a good time with them, and they are so welcoming.
We spent a fortune while we were over there. I had a great visit to the wool shop and am now really stocked up, although I forgot to get some more dishcloth cotton, so I may have to order some. I've been making my dishcloths lately because I can't find any decent ones over here. I stocked up with some while I was in the UK, but I get through so many that I panic when I am down to my last twenty! I only like the real cotton ones, and I can get about five from a ball of dishcloth cotton, so they are cheap to make.
We bought thousands of teabags, and lots of other stuff that we either can't get here, or expensive. DH bought some new tools and stocked up on screws and stuff like that, which is all so much more expensive here.
I had a video that we took in 2000 when we were at a family reunion, and on it is the only bit of film the family has of my DSIL who died aged 43 not long after the reunion. Her son is now nearly sixteen, and I've been saving the video for him, so I took it back to the UK to get it put on DVD. The shop in Southampton pulled out all the stops for me and got it done in just over a week; their normal turnaround is three weeks, so I was delighted that they made the effort to do it for me.
When we came back on the ferry on Thursday, we were accompanied by lots of D-Day veterans, all wearing their medals, going to France for the commemoration services, which was fantastic. People were going up to them to shake their hands; it was very moving. The ship had been decorated with flags and bunting, and Caen was a sea of flags, which brought tears to my eyes. It was such a sight and made me so proud to be British.
My Little Yellow Ducks have all been distributed; one on the ferry going to the UK, one on a little cafe table in France, and one on a bench in Weston-super-Mare. I shall have to check the website to see if they've been recorded.
Well, I had better go and get something done. I still haven't read all your posts, so I will try and do that later on today.
Oh, Jean, I bought an iPad 2 in the end, and I love it! Thanks for doing the spready for me while I was away; you are a true star!

Morning all.
Nice to hear your news Kathy. So glad you enjoyed your time with family and friends. Good to hear your dear mum is happy and settled too.
Just been for gp check up. Chest wound healing nicely, leg wound still a bit iffy but still on antibiotics for that but now have other antibiotics for waterworks problem as well ! What else will go wrong I ask myself.:o
He wants to see me in a month's time and feels I might be nearly ready to think about going back to work........hmmm we'll see.
Must admit I'm gradually taking up the reins a wee bit more, cooking etc and generally taking more interest in life. Apparently the strong painkiller I was on suppressed that but now I'm off it I'm getting back to normal. Well normal as I can be anyway.:p:rotfl:
Off for a walk round the block then sit down with an early lunch and some crochet.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.
