"Road tax"? You must mean vehicle excise duty. "Road Tax " was removed by Winston Churchill in 1937. Done well to get 7 pages so far- anyone suggested pushbikes should pay this yet?

Of course they have! My mistake! As you were.
Road tax is a colloquialism commonly understood to mean VED.

my my...so much being admitted as to how much of the law we intend to comply with, or ignore.

The Highway Code is the Official manual governing the behaviour of road users.

Too many road users think they know better.

The worrying thing I note from this thread is the number of road users professing to have but a half-baked idea about driving or riding. [if cap fits, etc.]

The fact that many of those half-baked ideas result in no particular incident arising, only goes to reinforce those ideas in the minds of the individuals concerned.

Perhaps the OP would have received more concise and accurate response if they'd posted the same question on a Police forum?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

    :D

This was my favourite out of this thread.
A cyclist that accepts it is just an out and out fight.
Escalation by both sides, sometimes the cyclist wins, sometimes the motorist.

What the Hell business is it of yours if they wear a helmet or not?

One of the serious problems with this country (right from top to bottom) is the nannying busybodies who think they have the right to dictate on other's personal lives!

Anyhow, back to the original question. The freeloading parasites known as cyclists ARE subject to road laws just the same as the rest of us and ARE obliged to stop at red lights just the same as the rest of us. There are no grey areas on this one.

chill out mate, was saying it frustrates me, no need to get all uppity.

Why does it frustrate you? It has no effect on your life?

You need to pay the none existant road tax custardy, so you will no longer be a freeloading parasite. Only then can you ride on THEIR roads ;)

Their roads remember, not for the community, not paid for by the community. Just like the pavements serve as extra parking space!

I wonder how he would fare in Edinburgh,'making a cyclist move'

    That makes two of us.

I couldnt find his response to the cars that do not currently pay VED (sorry road tax) but get in his way though, I mean surely they are harder to pass than a cyclist he can force his way past.
