  • Hi pinknumbers, I absolutely love your yard.

My yard is medium sized and I want to have raised beds in mine. It does not get the sun in the morning only in the afternoon and in winter its very damp and cold. It has 6ft walls.

I need some help with mine to transform it as there is only me and I cant drill the walls.

My front garden in summer I do work hard on.

How much are the raised beds??

I can share my before with you, i don't have the after yet its a new house i got so i want to make the most of the gardens, this is the back garden, the front is twice as big and just as empty, only problem here is when it rains it gets water logged, i'm not sure how to drain it permanently yet.

I've only got my after pic. When we moved in the shed was shed coloured, as were the fences. The wall at the back was grey breeze blocks and there were no plants apart from the cheery blossom and the fir tree type thing on the right.

That's lovely. ( I had a few happy daffs last year but no cheery blossoms :D.)

I wish I could claim the food as mine but it's from a holiday at Xmas! One day I'll be able to cook like that.:)

Ooh, do you look onto fields Widelats? How nice! I've no idea on drainage I'm afraid. My in laws house is built on old marsh land, and their garden feels boggy even on a sunny day, so I understand how important that is to get right!

Beautiful Totallybored! Can't wait to share mine in a few months :)
  • Your garden looks fantastic!

Could I ask a question - did you need planning permission to paint the walls? We have one wall in our garden that I wanted to brighten up and put a trellis on but my other half seems to think that you need planning permission to paint the walls.

No you don't, choose colour you like, and paint away.

I can't wait to see everyone elses gardens too!

Also, if you're looking for garden paint and want an unusual colour I think Farrow & Ball might work as most of their colours are available for exterior wood etc. I would guess that the piant mixing machines in B&Q will do the colours for wood etc. My train goes past someones garden that has an amazing fuscia pink wall.

It depends on the cause of the waterlogging and what you want to grow doesn't it. My last front garden was clay and had been compacted down from use so it needed loosening and improving. I had to double dig borders and incorporate bulky humus. You can spike a lawn to aerate it.
