flip you have done a brilliant job... i am going to 'nick' some of your ideas:D so we can max our garden...

i think this should be garden thread of the year.... as it just shows you what you can do...

edit........ if its only for short term you could go to your local cafe and ask them for the empty catering size tins. you can drill holes and add chain hangers to them, you can also paint/spray them too

Your garden is gorgeous - this is the sort of inspiring garden that I'd like to see on TV progs. in preferance to massive gardens with "rooms" and wildflower meadows. Thanks for showing us.

I totally agree, I'm fed up of seeing shows and articles which claim they are going to help me maximise space in my small garden and then start work on a 20 foot by 60foot garden.

    My garden is probably 15ft by 10ft :( It's sloping too :(:(

Well done Pink - I'm going to pinch some ideas too :p

    Not cheap @ £3.99 a pop

Hi, that's different from the ones we have, ours are on a rail and the pots hook onto them, rather than a proper hanging basket.

Having said that, ours weren't cheap either, I think it was about £13 for one set of rail and 5 pots, but it has been very good at giving us extra planting space.

ours is only very slightly bigger than yours, 14ft by 20ft or thereabouts. you can still fit a substantial raised bed in a space of 15 by 10ft :)

I know what you mean about the gardens on TV, even the "urban garden" on one show is bigger than our garden AND house put together!

ETA: our garden is very sloped too. the raised bed nearest to the camera starts off at about 15cm, and ends up (towards the front) at about 40cm. I don't know how the OH did it, but he worked very hard :D

  • That looks great! I like that you took your time to paint inbetween the bricks, it looks tacky when people just slap it on. It looks even better with the other bricks which can't be painted, gives it a nice contrast between the two. Makes me think of a cottage courtyard when I look at those after photos.

Wow, well done Pink. You and the OH have obviously worked very hard indeed. Our garden is about 30ft x 17ft but I only use a very small space for growing tomatoes, lettuce and spring onions. Our house is for sale so when we move I hope to get a proper greenhouse and make a small veg plot. Lots of inspiring ideas in your pics - thanks for sharing :)

PS, you can see pics of my garden on my homepage - click on "gardening" :)
