Our Garden Before & After

I totally agree, I'm fed up of seeing shows and articles which claim they are going to help me maximise space in my small garden and then start work on a 20 foot by 60foot garden.
My garden is probably 15ft by 10ftIt's sloping too
Well done Pink - I'm going to pinch some ideas too

I agree, it is as if most gardening writers don't think that anyone with a small garden is interested in gardening.

Thank you all so much for your extremely kind comments! Both OH and myself are astonished at receiving so many positive comments, and feel so encouraged!
I agree with those people about Garden programs and "small gardens" would love to see more realistic sized gardens on those shows and really teach us how to maximise our space, not just "oh put a raised bed or tubs." There must be so much more we could all do!
Our garden wasn't entirely planned as it looks now. We started off from wanted to take the old raised beds out (as it was no use to anyone), then we decided to build the raised beds. We were happy with that for a while, but realised that the back wall gets the most sun, so really needed to maximise the walls more. I'm not quite sure when or how the blue paint came into it, but the deckboard shelves and the paint job were done at the same time. After that was done, all I could see was this row of the silver pots going all the way across the back wall, so a quick trip to Ikea was done!
We're still looking for ways to increase our planting space, although we're aware that the garden is now pretty full! Any ideas will be so welcomed!
ETA: Davesnave, LOVE the sunflower, thank you0 -
We had a small backyard before we moved 3 years ago, we had no garden just lots of pots
Unfortunately dont have Ikea near us never been to a store as yet0 -
Just goes to show what you can do. I watch GW and I do think sometimes they are way of the mark of what most people have. Not all of us have massive gardens0

savemoney - your back garden is wonderful! We talked about getting white walls instead of the blue, but wasn't sure how it would look... now I know they look gorgeous! All the lovely flowers too. That's something that we're short of, flowers, as we were so focused on growing food. Maybe next year I will plant more pretty things0

I am so impressed at your use of space! It would be great to see how others have developed compact gardens!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
