That looks absolutely amazing! I can't believe how much stuff you have growing and looking really healthy in such a small space! Can I just ask, what grows well permanently in the small pots (the stainless steel hanging ones, and the ones up on the shelves)? Is it herbs mainly, or bigger plants to be planted out later? I have a few walls that I could probably make use of next year!

oh wow, thank you so much for so many lovely comments, you've all put a smile on my OH and my faces :)

I forgot to mention before, those shelves are made from decking boards - the cheap value B&Q ones for £2-something for 2.4m board. It's the perfect width to hold medium size plants, and treated already! (I don't work for B&Q, just the nearest best DIY store in my area).

The paint was santex in silver blue - our local B&Q didn't have that particular colour, but the large B&Q did have it. We originally bought the lighter blue, but it was almost white, so went for the silver blue. When we put it on the wall, it was SO dark, I contemplated taking it back, but it turned out ok once a large area was painted. We used a 5 Litre tin, for area of about 13m by 1.80m. The paint went on amazingly, and so we only needed one coat!

The hanging pots - yes they were from Ikea. I put summer bulbs in the ones hanging in the corner (the two row on top of each other), and herbs in the rest. I'm not sure if that's the right thing to put into small pots though, as this is only my second year of gardening. The troughs have various things sown in them, from wild flowers to salad leaves, chards, spinach, etc. The brown pots up on the shelves have chillies and tomatoes at the moment, but they will be potted up to larger pots later. I have strawberries on the walls too, you can see them in the same shot as the "toilet" :D

EmptyPockets - I know exactly what you mean, I often scream (from inside of the car) to people's garden, "Do you know how much food you could grow!?!?!" but then realised that we probably weren't making the best of what we had either. We used to say "oh well, we can't do much in ours because it's so small and faces the wrong way", but how wrong we were!

Thank you so much again for your wonderful comments :D

Your garden is gorgeous - this is the sort of inspiring garden that I'd like to see on TV progs. in preferance to massive gardens with "rooms" and wildflower meadows. Thanks for showing us.

I just find it rather sad that many people do not realise how lucky they are to have their very own outside space. After years of living in flats with no gardens, and then a house with a teeny tiny yard, I'm now thankful for every single square inch of space we have. I appreciate it every day, and it's lovely to see others doing the sme.
