Hi everyone,
wasn't sure where to post this but I need help.
I love giving gifts and my best friends birthday is coming up. it's her 40th so I want to give her something a wee bit special. (I have a boring gift that she asked for but want to give her something fun too) so I stumbled upon a 'how to' for making skittles vodka.
I was wondering if any of you guys have seen:
cheap 250ml glass bottles anywhere,
Reasonable vodka (need 1.75L)
The rest I know where to get.
So far my total is coming to £45 which is WAY too much
If anyone wants the link out of curiosity let me know but it looks fabulous!

I made Skittles vodka as Xmas presents for my nieces. I used cheap vodka from Aldi. The flavor of the Skittles made up for the cheapness of the vodka. I found this link for all sorts of bottles:
http://www.barnitts.co.uk/products/preserving-storage-bottles.html.
I only used 60ml bottles and wrapped them up in cellophane with a packet of skittles.
My nieces loved it, though as a warning it is potent stuff!0 -
I would do Limoncello much more classy.0

Jelly Baby vodka is nice. I agree that limoncello would be a ovely gift to receive. There was a recipe on the last episode of superscrimpers, you might be able to find it online, it didn't look too difficult.0

I made some flavoured voddie for christmas presents last year. I asked the local pub to save me all the empty little single serve wine bottles and lids. I soaked the labels off and sterilised them. all the grown ups got a bottle of toffee vodka and a bottle of skittles vodka. I wont be using the sour skittles again, didn't find that to be very nice. also, if the instuctions don't already say, separate the green skittles out because they make the vodka a sludgy brown colour, i used these in another bottle to do just a green skittles vodka, very tastyfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0

Thanks everyone, brilliant suggestions. Think smaller bottles would be best way forward. I know my pal will love that I've went to the effort for her.
Thanks again

I made skittles vodka and werthers original vodka for my sister for Xmas a few years ago. We used red square vodka which worked well and because we just did a bottle of each we made it in those bottles and gave it in those with a remodelled label.
A couple of tips:
- You can buy really cheap vodka and put it through a water filter a few times. I'm told this makes it much much nicer... (heard that tip on here!)
- If you're in a hurry to make it, you can wrap the closed bottle in a tea towel and stand it in a dishwasher on the hot setting. It'll be done in 1 or 2 cycles!0 -
Hi, I'm going to make Werther's, Rhubarb and Custard, Pineapple chunks and Fox's glacier mint flavours. Roughly how many sweets would you use in a 250ml bottle? Also would these flavours need straining or is that more when using Skittles? Thanks for any help.0
