I have some blueberry, tootie frooty, cola bottle, gummi bear and jelly bean vodkas on the go for reading festival next weekend. What i do is to seive first to get the worst of the lumps out and then filter through a coffee filter in a funnel.
Don't put cola bottle or gummi bear vodka in the fridge - it sets!I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
I made some skittles vodka last year and in the end mine was crystal clear. It was a pain though! I used coffee filters and it took FOREVER to drain. Also made toffee vodka. BIG mistake as the only toffees I had were clotted cream ones and boy did it separate out!0

Hi nungirl,
I've made plum vodka, blackberry vodka and I fancy giving raspberry vodka a go this year.
There's an earlier thread that might help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.
This thread might interest you too: make your own christmas booze!!

Hi, I have trawled through a lot of these vodka threads looking for a recipe for strawberry vodka, and this seems as good a topic as any to post in (others seem to focus mainly on xmas or sweetie recipes). After reading the toffee vodka thread, I have tried making vodka with Worthers (amazing), cola bottles (not nice), maltesers (ok but will use more maltesers next time) and mars bar (not ready yet).
Now I want to try making strawberry vodka. With real strawberries not skittles. I can't find a specific recipe for this on here so just wondered if anyone has made any...and if not then would you just use the same recipes posted on here for other fruits?
Thanks0 -
Guess noones tried it. I will have to try one I find on google and let you all know how it goes :P

Hi All
I know that some of you make raspberry gin and I wondered if anyone would mind sharing the recipe (with quantities) with me please?
Also if there are any good websites with these types of recipes on?
I have the RC preserve book and it's really good but I haven't been preserving for long enough to make up my own recipes yet.
Thanks0 -
Hi, I haven't done gin (it gives me a headache, but with vodka, the quantities I use are approx 1 and three quarter lb fruit and 20 oz sugar to a 70 cl bottle of vodka.
Yes, I know that's mixing imperial and metric measures, but it's just how I do it.:o
It works equally well with raspberries or with blackberries (which I can get free off the hedgerows)
The way I do it is to microwave the berries for a few mins to release the juices, mash them, stir in the sugar and get it dissolved, let it cool, then put this plus the vodka into a large sealed jar (a demijohn will do - half-sized one if you have one). Leave for a month in a cool dark place, then strain.
HTHIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Once you've started experimenting you'll go on to all sorts of fruit - I regularly make blackberries, clementines, sloes and others!!!! I've never tried rasperies though, can't wait for summer!!Food budget: Nov £80 / 2.33 /0.00/0.00/00.00(.)Splurges (if I list them here I might remember I've already treated myself!!(.)NSD 2/3
