Jan, I just did the same. Did yours ever arrive? I live in hope.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
Will let you know when I get mine. I've already got a large slow cooker but think I need a small one as well, dont always want to make loads of food.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Mine arrived this morning but its really too small for a family of 4 so I've offered it up on Freecycle.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

No, my slow cooker didn't show up. I emailed Empire - quoting the order number from their confirmation email - and they said sorry, but they had no trace of my order (so how come I got an order number then?). They said I should re-order, but now the £20 off code seems to have finished. Bah!0

Used my new slow cooker for the first time yesterday. Had to get one after reading on here how god they are and I have to agree they are fantastic. Filled it up yesterday morning with carrots, leeks, mushrooms, beef, broth mix and water and spices. Switched on and came home to a gorgeaus casserole, threw some dumplings in and voila-was one of the easiest and best meals we've had in ages.
My DS gave me a laugh though as he asked what it was and I said a casserole
'A casserole...' said he...cogs turning in his head 'ah...I know what a casserole is that's one of those things you give to new neighbours when they move in or you take to people when they're sick'
Ah bless him I think he's been watching too many American sitcoms, most I've given new neighbours is a friendly hello and a chat! Thanks to MSE and all the moneysaving tips I can now work PT (instead of FT) to pay the bills and still have fun!!:beer:0 -

Sounds lovely...
Please can you describe the dumplings bit...i've often make dumplings, but have never cooked them in the slow cooker before...how long do they take?
thanks0 -
Dumplings only take around 30 mins but you can leave in longer with no probs, I popped them in just left them. Haven't had dumplings for ages and really enjoyed them. Thanks to MSE and all the moneysaving tips I can now work PT (instead of FT) to pay the bills and still have fun!!:beer:0

Cool, mine arrived too. It is small at 1.5 litres but as I have never had ur used one before and it was free :j its a chance to experiment risk free and if needs be I can upgrade at a later day. There are only 2 of us so it is fine for that serving just means I won't have spare servings for freezing.
Off now to research some recipes on here...................enjoy everyone and thanks again for sharing the code and links.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
I made this in my slow cooker yesterday, with a little adaptation, and it worked quite well. It's delicious. I used tinned chickpeas and a box of chicken thighs & drumsticks for convenience. Browned the chicken, onions and peppers and put the whole lot in the SC (3.3L) and topped up to near the rim with some extra wine & water. Cooked on high for an hour then turned down to low for 6 hours. The result was slightly 'wetter' than if following the recipe and baking in the traditional oven, but the taste was identical and it was a lovely meal. I'll be doing it again.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, couldn't work out how to put it in the recipe collection.:oOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
