Would it also be possible for people to post any cheap new finds for 500 litres?
Thank you kindly.Hello Floor Make Me A Sandwich!0 -

Some people here use that in 9 months
- make sure your boiler has been serviced
- fit thermostatic controls onto your radiators (if they do not have them) and make sure your system has been balanced
- put some reflective foil behind all radiators on outside walls.
- make sure all pipes are lagged (particularly if your boiler is outside)
There is one other one I was told I can never remember which way round it works. You either turn the thermostat on your boiler up slightly and reduce the thermostats on your radiators OR you turn the thermostat on the boiler down slightly and increase the thermostats on your radiator. I think it is the former of these two - it is something to do with reducing the number of times your boiler starts and stops (apparently it wastes a lot of fuel when it tries to fire up)

9 months - they're having a laugh. They must be wearing coats, hats and jumpers all the time or they dont even have the heating on. I would be lucky to get 3 months during winter and my house isn't that big. You live in the real world were people put their heating onhappiness is being able to have one more drink0 -

I am not sure i would recommend putting thermosats on older systems. they have a tendency to get stuck nd that causes more problemshappiness is being able to have one more drink0 -

Well we only use about 1000-1400 litres a year - maximum, we certainly don't wear hats and coats in the house! Our thermostat is set to about 75 degrees in winter when the heat is set to come on for 2 hours in the morning and from 5pm to 9pm in the evening. We haven't started using the heating regularly yet but probably will from start of October as its starting to get cold. We don't use the heating at all from about June until September except for the odd day when its cold. We have got excellant insulation in our house - I think that helps, apparently most houses in the UK have only 1/4 amount of insulation that is used elsewhere in Europe - hence high heating bills!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I am still amazed at how little people us (they must wear coats and hats indoors. In Winter myheat is on for 2 hours in morning and from about 5pm to 10pm in evening. We dont use it in summer. I reckon I fill my tank 3 times. If I fill it now (end Sept). I would need to fill it again early Dec then again mid Feb. That works out at probably 3500 litres a year. There is no way I would use as little as 1400 litres. And to be clear, its not a big house and the temperature on the boiler is just below 70 degrees

I don't know how we use so little - well our house is quite small about 1000 sq feet - it may make a difference to us that we are in the house very little at the weekends - when I know a lot of people put the heat on constantly we're usually out - (taking advantage of other people's heat
!!) Maybe thats whats happening - we also had a plumber out once and he said our boiler thingy was very good and was only 2 years old.
