The Hayes online seems very good advice.
Tried following up other recent deals but the companies offered such pathetic excuses to try not to price-match (e.g. that company is quoting a higher price (wrong) or you are quoting an online offer (so?) which does not "apply" (well at least according to their view of the world) or the "voucher" offer is only if you repeat-order and then it can change (to what they decide at the time and/or you might get offered a poor deal)).
Mention Hayes online and they just might at best offer to price-match it, but no more. So save yourself the time and a few unpleasant/expensive phone calls.
Let's also send a message. Support the simple max visible discount. The customer wants cheapest price. And let the companies maybe reflect on the impact of extra costs due to sales staff etc.0 -
Im getting about 10 weeks out of 900 . Is this normal for a 4 bed detached ??
Interested to know how others fair ..something missing0 -
I am wondernig if we are getting a lower grade oil than normal? I have heard so many people complaining that their oil is not lasting but yet we have had a very mild winter. Normally I fill up in November and again in Feb so get about 4 months out of the winter fill and 8 months from the summer - we would be quite frugle with oil though (neither of us feel the cold)
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Interesting theory Ivan. I just went through 500 litres, albeit during that cold snap we had, in record time. It was the first time I never got a delivery from my usual supplier in around 2 years (they always price-matched my lowest quote until that delivery) though I'd have thought that they all got it from the same main distributor.0

Delivered to-day 900 ltrs. from Bangor Fuels £302.40.
Last delivery was 21/12/05 so about 14 weeks my last 900 ltrs. lasted, althought during that time i was on holiday for a week and would mostly have the fire lit at the weekend.0 -

I thought this morning i should check my own oil level - i am devastated as i bought 900 litres in november and it is almost all gone. normally i would use less than 1500 litres for the whole year (i live in a small shipbuilder-type terrace). normally i wouldn't even use 500 litres in 3 or 4 months - even in winter.
my lodger likes the heat on full blast most of the time she's in the house, so i think it's mostly down to her, but it's an interesting theory about the quality of the heating oil too. time for a rent increase... (she's been here a year so it was time for a "review" anyway.)0
