Tough times in work everywhere I think.

My pension statement arrived yesterday and tells me that if I retire at 55 my pension is £25kish. No debts and no mortgage would make this fund a very nice lifestyle. I MUST re-double my efforts to get the mortgage paid down I am annoyed with myself for not getting myself more motivated,

Odd times, I was contacted by a headhunter on Friday for a really interesting job in another country, but V V close! In all honesty it would be a step back BUT I am interested, it would be a really enjoyable job. I am going to think.

Great dilemma to have Toots :j. If the other country has better weather than here then go for it :(
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

£25k is great for a pension at 55. Well done.

I have spent all of the week-end thinking and making lists, on my own so that it will be my decisions, my mistakes or my good move.

I have decided to keep to my goals for the rest of the year: sell my flat, lose weight and get over my driving phobia.

I will also look for a new job, a challenge, something that will make me feel full of energy and life. But I will only look for a year, and if a job hasn't come then I will take early retirement and train to be a costume maker, which is something I have wanted to do all my adult life.

I also need to finish my house and make it habitable but that will have to be funded from selling stuff on Ebay. One step forward - I have set up my sellers account, it has only taken me about three years so this feels like a big move in the right direction.
  • well done!

Thanks TYO I would love to say it was my brilliant forethought and planning but it is more I have had the same employer for over 30 years and the pension has mounted up. On my 40th birthday I decided to buy in extra years and that has made a big difference. I ordered my proper pension statement on Monday as part of getting ready.

Everything hinges on selling the flat. I can't give up work until the flat is sold as that pays off half the mortgage on my house. This week-end I have a big list of things to achieve in the London flat as I have to be at work on Sunday so I need Saturday to be super productive.

Well done on registering as ebay seller, once you get the kick of a few sales there'll be no stopping you!

Pension is amazing, well done. Good luck for Saturday, and hoping you have a speedy sale.

Costume maker sounds amazing, I'm all for pursuing your dreams.

Hello MW, see that you are a Mad Men fan, love the programme, adore the clothes. Busy day today, nice to be at home. I have painted a wall in my living room.

Washing is in and dinner is on. I have photographed 50 items for ebaying, just need to write the descriptions next. I have hundreds of things to sell I have TOO MUCH STUFF, especially clothes. I often find things that I can't remember buying, it is really a bit out of control. Two homes don't help, what you need is always in the other place, especially if you are not well organised.

Don't forget to look out for the free listings weekends on eBay, it can save you a fortune.
