Hi YO, yes it is my house that I need to get mortgage free on. I don't have lodgers or anything, it hasn't really been fit for anything like that but I am hoping to get a lodger when all the work is done, under the rent a room scheme, and I will keep the rent under the amount you can have tax free which is about £4k. That would cover me travelling between the two plus rates and water which will be excellent.

I am going to have a list of 12 things but they will have sub targets to keep me going which might be the bronze, silver gold thing, not sure if that is right- investigation required. No spend yesterday as I have a sickness bug and couldn't get to work, sadly I am not much better and will not be moving far from the bathroom today (apols for tmi). I feel rotten and very bored as I can't really do anything useful and spent all of yesterday in bed, I got up and got dressed this morning for my sanity.

Also I need to confess that I am in a dangerous mood and feel like just doing everything in the house, buying everything I want and accepting a £185k mortgage, this is a very bad state to be in so it is probably good that I am not in any fit state to get to a shop!
  • aw hope you feel better soon!! yep when feeling ill is not the time to be spending money :)
plan for renting out sounds good when the work is done tho!

I am getting together 10 challenges for 2011so that the maths is easy for percentages achieved:

    1. Pay off £25k from my debts (largely mortgage)
    2. Do 100 lots of 45 minute exercise
    3. Lose 100 lbs in weight
    4. Sell 100 things on Ebay
    5. Save £1000 for emergencies
    6. Save £1000 for unplanned fun
    7. Have 100 NSDs
    8. Make 100 things
    9. Spend no more than £1000 on food
    10. Spend no more than £600 on clothes

I may refine these later but they feel doable and will make my life better.

Feel a bit better today which is a relief as this is a booked day off. I am doing my family's Christmas shopping as they are still snowed in and have been for a couple of weeks, they can get to the village shop but that is about all. I have list and am a woman on a mission.

The builder told me yesterday that the kitchen will arrive to be fitted from Monday, woo hoo.

Now finished everyone else's Christmas shopping and wrapped up my Mum's stuff to save her a job.

Dinner with friends tonight, quiet day of sorting today and tomorrow.

Eight more days at work and then a week off in London which will really help with getting ready for the new year.

I am hoping to settle on a day to move back into my house around 21 January. That gives enough time for absolutely everything to be finished and the carpets down I don't want to move back so late and still have half finished stuff around.
  • Challenges sound fab, and easy to measure! The weight loss one in particular sounds one heck of a target. Like the fact that you've included fun and weekends away in there. Wishing you the very best of years, will follow with interest.

Great news on the progress of the house, you must be so looking forward to it all being over. I didn't realise quite how disruptive building work is until I had this loft conversion done - at least you have somewhere else to stay. I'm a bit confused though - are you moving back to the house, and then letting your flat out or are you letting the house out later in the year?

Thanks for the Morley College tip, I have booked myself onto the crochet course - looks great and very reasonable!

What are you sorting at the minute? Have a good evening.
