June 2010, 80 payments to go............

Ha,Ha, ha GreenT I would talk more about things other than Waitrose, cleaning and coffee but I'm not going out much so it's difficult to talk about my exciting social life! Still it will take me eight years to pay off this mortgage (should be 17) and I am still going to enjoy life to the hilt
including getting both homes into good, comfortable order. If everything goes **** up I need to be ready to rent this flat out quick sharp so it needs to be in good order throughout. Watch my dust from January.
Still 'n' all today: £2 coffee, £10 leaving present which leaves me with £8 until pay day. I must say that the boss having to give to every leaving present plays havoc with my budgeting. I have a works corporate dinner on Wednesday and lunch with funders tomorrow so that is free food and good for the purse. I am lusting after a range cooker, luckily it is probably too big for the kitchen my brother is measuring for me, he thinks I'm mad. I have spent a lot of my bus journey deciding what won't be done in the home improvements to have an over extravagant cooker.
I have had a very odd letter from the Revenue and Customs either they owe me money or I owe them money but it isn't obvious which. I think it is just a mistake I PAYE from my wages, my tax code is correct and I have reported and paid tax on any extra earnings. I really hope that I don't owe them money that will be a blow.0 -
Hi toot,
Just caught up with your diary. Sorry about that horrible comment, if they read my diary they would be horrified (i may be trying to be a mfw but do seem to have the ability to spend money like its going out of fashion!) anyway well done you on being the bigger person and ignoring them.
As for the tax point, unfortunately there is a chance you will HMRC money or on the plus they may owe you money. You just need to work out which.
There was a big ***** up at HMRC and and they messed up loads of PAYE codes. Here is an article for you to have a look at they may help.

Oh dear I don't know how I've missed that bit of news. I will just have to wait and see, wouldn't a rebate be loverly?0

just read this diary all the way through and go you ...ignore the nasty poster..we all spend and earn different amounts and have different needs..we have to do whats comfortable for us.0

Thanks Taxi, I read your diary every day and I often read mentally shouting GO TAXI !!!!!
As it turns out my corporate dinner is tonight rather than Wednesday luckily I looked at my diary and have put the right clothes in my bag. For many, many reasons I need to be impressive and thoughtful in the next two days so my Board think that I am more than a project deliverer. Let's hope it works. Obviously turning up in the right clothes on the right night will help.
I need to be honest on this diary so here goes. Yesterday I bought fabric, on my cleared credit card for, hold your breath, £142, I will make blinds for my new kitchen (3) and a winter coat, and two jackets for work but still I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL. On the plus side I can't wait for it to arrive, the sewing will occupy two week-ends in October and three in November so in the end it will be worth it.
My SOA is done now and I am taking Musemworkers advice and putting in a discretionary spend of £150 per month which is generous but will hopefully stop me going too mad. I will post later in the week when my difficult meetings are over and I am braced and ready for the comments. China blue range cookers are fading into the distance.........0 -
What a horrible comment.
I too must be a failed MFW as I have treated myself to a new 47" LCD TV this year, even though I will have paid an extra £2000 in mortgage payments by the end of the year.
Good Luck on your MF journey

Firstly, hope the corporate event goes well
Secondly - I think that £142 for a coat, 2 jackets and 3 blinds is a bargain. OK, you'll need to add on some extras to that I guess - but that's teh amount I paid for just 3 kitchen blinds (bought 2 years ago and still waiting to be hung!) - so don't be too hard on yourself!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Coffee £2. Early start. late night, roll on Friday.0

Coffee £2. I have good news that my house is ahead of schedule, not much overtime for tradesmen in the north so all kinds of out of hours and week-end work is being done by various relatives with Christmas looming. The major hold up will be the plumber who can't start until 17th November which is a shame. However the kitchen etc can be fitted without the heating being done.
So dear readers-worktops, any recommendations? I am having a not expensive IKEA plain white kitchen so what will make it look more classy etc, etc. I would of course like polished granite but funds do not allow................What else will work?0
