DS is revising and has to write a formula for the sum of n, n+1 and n+2 in the simplest form.
    I think 3n+3

Good Maths. Valli is there such a thing as a KS1 level 3 maths paper like there is with reading?? Do you automatically give them level 3 paper if they get 2a on the level 2 paper?

there is a level 3 maths paper in the SATS but whether a child would be automatically given it to do if Y2 and got a 2a I don't know - it might well cover things not yet taught IYSWIM...

MSGNomey well it's almost a third done...

  • was going quite well today - DW, WM, kitchen, driving lesson etc, then a letter came through the door.

DD1's father is trying to claim child benefit for her, as he has told her she can have his wife's old car and they will give her a lump sum of every penny of child benefit and tax credit they receive for her as a present when she goes to University, if she refuses to come back here.

I suspect this is in retaliation to the CSA deciding last week that they would take him to court for nonpayment of maintenance for the last heaven-knows-how-many years.

That and the fact that she is a singularly unpleasant brat these days and a testament to what you get from full on attachment parenting, who cannot function without her boyfriend attached to her person at all times, cannot manage to attend college, will not be going to university because she hasn't bothered handing in coursework for her AS levels and speaks only in baby talk 'cos iii's weally ickle an mi dada's bubba'.

Oh, and I had to throw my lovely boyfriend out because she had told her tutor (to get out of trouble for skivving) that he was a violent alcoholic who she was terrified of. All untrue, but the tutor fell for the poor baby act and was starting to ask questions about how safe DD2 was and whether she needed to instigate child protection proceedings.

    GRrrrrrrrrr!

And DD2 has just announced that DD1 had started punching her in the head and trying to suffocate her when she was here, so she doesn't want her back anyway.

AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! Why did she not tell me this before?

    The College, Millport
The College, which was originally built in 1851, is attached to the Cathedral of The Isles (Britain's smallest Cathedral) - one of two Cathedrals in the Episcopal Diocese of Argyll and The Isles. It is set in its own woodland grounds and has recently undergone major restoration and refurbishment. The College, which is recognised as having high standard of welcome, dining and accommodation is open throughout the year for Church groups and for individuals who are seeking peace and quiet.

The Island of Cumbrae, which is four miles long by two miles wide, is situated in the Firth of Clyde, just off the Ayrshire coast, and is easily reached by a ten minute ferry crossing from Largs. There are also good connections by public transport to Glasgow and other mainland towns and cities. The town of Millport offers a wide range of attractions and the island is ideal for cycling. There are excellent views of the nearby islands of Arran and Bute and the mountains of Argyll.

collegecumbrae.jpg The College of the Holy Spirit is attached to the Cathedral of The Isles, Britain's smallest cathedral, and offers a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation and good food. The College is open throughout the year for individuals and groups and is also available for conferences, retreats and seminars. We can accommodate up to 31 guests in 16 rooms, 5 of which have 'en suite' facilities. 1 has a private bathroom.

The Cathedral and College are also available for the preparation of sacred and classical music. Applications from choirs and groups of classical musicians are welcomed for seminars, rehearsals and performances.

And there are some more pics here
I have never been on a retreat before but I am looking forward to the peace- we have 2 nuns coming to speak to us about Celtic Spirituality - they are from here. It is organised by my Church and there are 18 of us including my friend A (the priest) and there are others that i know.
