Well, today's not been too bad money wise. I wasn't feeling too good this morning so went for a lie down, and woke up 4 hours later! I've only spent on milk and a bar of chocolate today, and have booked DS's birthday party, so that's one thing I don't need to worry about.
No news on the job front / benefits front today. I can't remember the last time I was so eager for the post to arrive in the morning!
I found my seeds earlier, so can now plant some carrots and french beans. I might go and get some more tomato plants tomorrow.
DS has got cookery tomorrow but has lost the list of ingredients he needs (no idea where he gets his scatterbrain tendencies from!!) so I need to go and root through the car to see if it's in there. Otherwise, I'll send him in with an onion and some tinned tomates and hope for the best!
Time for a cup of tea now, and some Eastenders. I don't usually watch it but have been indulging over the last week or so.

Hi Annie, it's been a while - my apologies!

Sorry to hear about the job front, I hope something great comes along very soon for you. The french beans sound great, I can't wait until we have a garden, I would love to grow some fruit and veg :)

Hope you have a relaxing evening with the 'enders!

    Hi Jtr2803
I did thanks.. but think I've had my 'enders fix for a while now, I get annoyed with it if I watch it too often!
Well, I've had a nice day today, I got up and went for an appointment with the nurse, just routine, who told me off about being too fat! So, salads for me from now on (although I've got fish fingers and chips in the oven at the moment, my menus were all planned around me being a fatty and I'm not going to wreck my meal plan for the sake of a wobbly tum. So there.)
Then, I went to the coffee morning at my SIL's house which was really nice, I got a nice stash of birthday cards which will keep me going for the next year or so. I spent £10 but it works out cheaper in the long run. My only other spend today was 80p on ingredients for DS's cookery club... he made pasta sauce and then had it for his dinner. I'm so pleased that he's learning to cook, it's such an important skill.
The rest of the day was spent pottering, putting washing out and other equally exciting activities. Oh, and sneezing, this hay fever is starting to really get on my nerves!
Right, my dinner is calling me, I'm starvers so will be off.
Keep up the good work people!

I have just started taking manuka honey and stopped taking hayfever tablets found it great, a little expensive to buy but works out cheaper than tablets and its natural.

I've heard of taking honey, but didn't know whether it would actually work. Perhaps I'll give it a go. Does it count if you out it on your porridge?

Well, strange things have been happening here, I think I'm being assimilated. Last night, I was cooking my dinner and though, oh, I oculd have some beans with this. Then I thought, no... I'll have ketchup then I can save the beans and have them for another meal.
Then... I was planning to bake a cake or some banana bread, and was about to get started when I thought I'd better not, if I wait till later I can cook it while I've got something else in the oven and save on the electricity. Now, these weren't forced thoughts, they just popped into my head with no effort at all. You lot are changing me into a person who thinks about money!!! Yahooooo!!!
Well, I went to Ikea today as I've been promising myself a new bed for years, the headboard has broken off mine, and the slats are going too so there are strange dips in it. And the springs are poking through the mattress. So, I've put some money aside for it and have now ordered myself a new bed and mattress from Ikea. I can't wait for it to arrive!
I also got a pack of 17 plastic tubs for £2 something, which will be great for my massive batch cookathon, planned for the day when I've finally emptied the freezer.
They were having a farmers market outside Ikea, with a stand selling the biggest, most delicious looking cakes I've ever seen. It was hard work, but I managed to drag myself away without buying a cake. I did buy some wild boar and apple burgers though, so am going to give them a go later with some salad from the garden.
I've got the car booked in for it's MOT tomorrow, I'm not hopeful to be honest, I feel a large bill coming on.
Must go and collect DS from the childminder now, and then to try the wild boar burgers!

Oh, forgot to say, I got my final payslip from my job yesterday, with my outstanding annual leave in it. For some reason, they decided to put me on BR tax code for the last payment so I got about £250 less than I should have. But.... I can reclaim my tax now that I'm not working so I'll get it back, will just have to think of it as a savings plan!

I've just spoken to the garage about my car. To get it to pass the MOT is going to cost me a staggering £745.
I need a lie down. Will be back later when I've calmed down!

I've just about got over the shock of the bill for my car now... although there's still more to pay as I haven't had the welding done yet, I'm hoping that isn't going to be too much, it's going to take all my savings at this rate.
I've been on a flying visit to the family in Devon this weekend, and spent the whole time sneezing and blowing my nose, it's driving me nuts, so I'm going to go and buy the more expensive hay fever tablets. I got some from Mr S for about 80p, but they don't work so I'm going to have to go and get Benadryl or something. I've got a really busy day ahead, need to contact the chap to weld my car, get some food shopping in, collect my prescriptions fro mthe doctor's, clean the house (it's revolting), phone Ikea to change the delivery day for my new bed, watch Wimbledon, plant the purple sprouting broccoli and spinach beet that my Dad gave me..... goodness, I feel wuite worn out just thinking about it. I'd better have a coffee before I get started!
On the MSE front, I think I'm going to fail this month's grocery challenge, Grrrrr. I don't need a huge amount this week but mum and stepdad are coming to visit on Thursday so I'll have to get some bits in for them - I don't think I'd get away with suggesting they have a bowl of porridge as a snack!!! But, we're away all weekend so I won't need to get food in for that, and July starts next week, so maybe I won't go over by too much.
    Right, coffee calls.........

So sorry to hear about your car repair bill Annie, I know how stressful that can be, especially when your car is essential to you! I totally agree that it is probably worth you getting some better hayfever medication, especially if it makes your day to day life easier.

That's quite a long list you have got there but the veg sound interesting, I am hoping that when we finally buy a house we have a big enough garden for a veg patch :). My OH paid for the shopping we did on Saturday which I was glad about as it was over £100 . That did include some new frying pans and a bottle of wine and card for his Dad and the freezer is now bulging but it was still a lot. On the plus side it should mean I don't have to spend too much next week ;)

    take care x

It was a long list, and I got through most of it.. and was exhausted by the time I'd finished! And another £70 poorer due to the welding that needed doing on the car. Still, hopefully I won't have to shell out any more on it for a while.
I've been enjoying the sunshine, looking after my plants - Jodie you don't need lots of space, mine are all in pots, I rent my house so can't dig up the garden, but am doing fine with plant pots and have strawberries in a hanging basket.
I'm hoping for a NSD today, am feeling thoroughly miserable about my financial situation, I've got my housing benefit award but don't understand when I get it, and they've royally mucked up my second income support application and only awarded me a third of what I shojuld be getting, so I'm now waiting for them to ring me back to try and rectify it. I just hope they don't tell me to make another new claim... I don't think my nerves would cope.
Still, I can hopefully claim some tax back from my last job, and applied for another one yesterday, and sitting in the sun with a book doesn't cost anything - well, apart from the tissues I need to blow my nose on cos of this blinking hay fever. AAaaattttiiiiiiisscchhhhhoooooooooooo!
I've got Wimbledon on now, and my clean washing on the living room floor being sorted out as I watch. I think just about every item of clothing we own was on the chair in the kitchen that serves as the place where the clothes go when they come off the line and before they make their way upstairs (which sometimes is never!).
Ooh, and it's lunch time, what can I rustle up I wonder.....?
