    Thanks whatatwit!

Well I got to Mr M's and realised that I didn't have a pound coin for the trolly, so had to get a basket... which meant that I was conscious about how heavy it was so didn't go mad! I got pretty much what I needed for the week for £13.80 and now have a pineapple upside down cake in the oven. My next challenge will be not to eat it all in one go......

I have to get a present for DS's friend who's having the party later, but apart form that and some bicarb of soda, we should be sorted for the week (famous last words...)

Hi... I've never tried frozen mash, is it ok?
The meal planning WAS going well, but things went slightly haywire after I accompanied DS to his party.... friend's mum asked me in for a glass of wine, which turned into A LOT of wine so have had a horrendous hangover today and therefore offered no resistance to DS's request for a pizza from Dominoes (as it was BOGOF Tuesday).
On the plus side however, I went to the job centre today to register for Income Support so we'll at least have something coming in. And, I saw a job I like the look of advertised today too, so another little glimmer of hope for me to cling to.
I also now have 2 days' meals 'in the bank' as the bacon and leek risotto I had planned for last night and tonight didn't get made, so we can have that tomorrow and Thursday instead.
Off to register for housing benefit tomorrow, having found most of what I need in the disaster area under the stairs.

I think I'll go and have a slice of cold pizza now..........!!

Hmm, not a fantastic couple of days, but by no means disastrous. I'd forgotten that I'd invited my SIL and her kids over yesterday, it was meant to be lunch but I changed the plan and they came for afternoon tea instead, so I went and got some cakes etc... which came to £3 something (I've lost the receipt). We had a jolly nice afternoon though so I'm not too worried about that. Then this morning I went to get some bread and ended up spending £7 something (yes, lost that receipt too) on greek yogurt and honey, and a baguette. I did manage to register for housing benefit though, and an agency phoned me about a job that sounds great and is really near to where I live, so an overall positive I think!
I also managed to find somewhere for DS to have his birthday party.... he wants a golf party (!) and there's a golf place just up the road where they do parties, so that's sorted. It's going to cost me a bomb but hopefully I'll have some work by then.
Tonight DS has a friend coming for a sleepover and is very excited at having fish fingers and chips from the freezer, so I don't need to spend anything on that, thank goodness!!
I'm hoping for another gloriously sunny day tomorrow so we can get out and about... a picnic in the park I think, where there's a paddling pool for himself to play in and I can sit and read my book.
Off to put a loaf in the bread maker now........

Right, I'm hoping for a NSD today.... I have 80p in my purse and nothing else until a cheque clears, so not much choice really!!! DS wants to go into town to the Apple shop and play on the laptops. I'm not sure I can face it 2 days in a row though, especially as it's promising to be scorchio again today.
Fortunately he and his friend were very well behaved last night. They are now terrorising the neighbours however, kicking footballs here there and everywhere. I'm expecting a petition calling for us to move any time now!
Hope everyone has a nice day in the sunshine :0)

Yay, NSD!! Well, for me anyway. DS wanted to go into town to play on the gadgets in the Apple store, I said I wasn't spending any money today, so he gave me £2 for parking and bought his own lunch from some money he'd saved... bless his heart, he's 9 and so lovely!
I was shattered when we got back and ended up snoozing on the sofa.
Am hoping for another NSD tomorrow, but we'll see what happens!!

    Hiya
Yes, sure. I got to the point where I simply couldn't afford the repayments on credit cards, loand etc, so cancelled the direct debits and wrote to all the companies saying that I was having financial difficulties and was unable to keep up the repayments. I offered to pay a nominal amount each month (a couple of pounds I think) and then followed up with a full SOA demonstrating what I cojuld pay. Most of them passed the debts to collection agencies, who to be honest have all been absolutely fine... from reading other peoples' stories I think I was very lucky in this respect. When I sold my house, I contacted them with offers of full and final settlements, none of which were accepted but I did manage to come to agreements with the majority and so settled a couple of the accounts. I'm sure I got all the standard letters I used from this site. The ones I didn't settle with at the time I sold my house just carried on, and I'm still paying them, with agreed, affordable, interest free payments. It worked out really well for me in the end.
Good luck... and let me know if you have any more questions.

Grrrr, I've been trying to finish off a job application for hours now.. all I have to do is write the bit where I tell them how great I am and how they would be foolish not to employ me, but I keep getting distracted. Not distracted enough to do the pile of washing up in the kitchen, but I've been on the internet all afternoon playing games, and have made a batch of biscuits... now it's nearly half past 4 and the day is nearly gone. Hmmm, I'd better get on with it, closing date is tomorrow. I also need to go shopping and am hoping to be able to shop for the week for £20. The freezer's fairly full, just need fruit and some veg, and flour, and milk and..... bother, maybe I need more than I'd thought.
Perhaps I'll just make do with what I've got for tonight ( there's plenty) and make a proper meal plan and shopping list tomorrow. That's what a proper MSE would do isn't it... so that's what I'll do!!
Right.... I'm great and you should employ me because................

Good luck finding a job, I know it's horrible being unemployed especially when you're trying to get out of debt.

I'm applying for a new job at the moment too and I'm stuck on exactly the same bit as you! I think I need to be more positive rather than assuming I won't get it, but it's not that similar to my currrent job and all I can say is that I produced reports analysing stats at uni. I think I need a miracle lol.
