Aw. thanks, here's to positive thinking! I read an article at the weekend about a man who's trying to stop being pessimistic, it's all about changing the way you look at things.. so rather than thinking 'I don't know why I'm applying, I'll never get the job' you could think 'well I'm doing what they want now so I can hit the ground running.... perfect for them' and try to weave it into the application.
I've pretty much done mine now (I more or less know it off by heart I've filled in so many applications!) and will give it a check over before hitting the send button tomorrow!

I'mhaving a bit of a wobble today, it's just hit me that I'm unemployed, I've never been in this situation before and I'm really scared that I won't be able to just 'bounce back' in the way that I thought I would. I haven't heard about my benefits yet so don't know how much I'm going to have coming in each month. I was hoping that I'd get another job really quickly and wouldn't have to think too much about my standard of living / lifestyle, but now I'm not so sure. I started out thinking that I'd relocate to get work, but then realised that DS is so, so happy and settled here that it would be totally unfair on him to make him move and leave all his friends... we only moved here 2 years ago and it took him nearly a year of that to settle in and find his confidence. I believe in making sacrifices for your children and it would be unkind of me to upset him by making him move.... so, we're staying put, and I'll have to find a job here.
Hopefully something will come in the post today telling me what I'll get from income support etc so I can at least know where I am and what I need to look at cutting back on.
And I've still got an application form to finish and send, so I'll get that done now so that I've got something to pin my hopes on!

Ok, so I sent the application form yesterday, and have everything crossed! It's only a fixed term contract but that'd be better than nothing. Still haven't heard from the benefits people so don't know how much I'll be getting and when, so I can't get organised which is a bit frustrating.
I managed to get to the gym this morning for the first time in over 2 weeks... I haven't felt like going. I need to focus on getting exercise and getting out of the house otherwise I risk slipping into a massive depression which will do me no good whatsoever. In a way, that's what got me into this situation in the first place, but that's another story.
I have no plans for today, have already scoured the job boards with no joy. I need to push the hoover round and make some bread, which I think I'll do now - I feel better when I've actually achieved something.
Oh. The phone just rang... it was an agency who'd put me forward for a job, ringing to say that their client had filled it so it's a no go. Now all I want to do is eat cake and wallow....
Right, I'm going to go and do something productive before the blues completely consume me :0(

Good luck with the job, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. If you can motivate yourself enough to go to the gym/out that's great, I've found that whenever I've wanted to wallow it's when I'm alone and not doing anything, hopefully the busier you are the better you will feel.

Aw, thanks for the words of encouragement, it's nice to know I'm not alone! Well, my last payment from work cleared into my account today so I've paid off my Next Directory account in full, finally, which is a nice feeling. I also received a letter from income support this morning saying that I earn too much to get benefits... they misunderstood that my job was finishing on 31 May and seem to have assumed that I was applying for fun! I'm just waiting for them to ring me back so they can do an adjustment and hopefully put things right. It's soooo annoying, but I suppose it's easily fixed (hope so anyway!).
I'm not feeling great today so won't go to the gym, but will go tomorrow instead. Now that I've started again by going yesterday, hopefully I can get back into the routine of going, it'll do me good.
Time for a cup of tea I think, and a look at the job boards!
