NSD for me yesterday, hurrah!! I felt like I got loads done yesterday, but when I tried to work out what I had actually achieved it didn't amount to much - wash the sheets and put them on the line, make (and eat most of) a lemon drizzle cake, hoover the living room and watch the football.
This morning however, I've already applied for a job, just temporary but hey, 6 months is better than nothing, and it could lead to other things...
Oh, I also spent ages on the phone to the income support people yesterday because they mucked up my claim again. Gggrrrrrrrrrrr. I'm seriously cross with them now, and the chap I spoke to didn't seem to give a stuff that they'd messed it up and only awarded me a third of what I'm entitled to. Good job I'm not trying to keep a household going by myself and feed my child... oh hang on a minute, that's exactly what I'm doing. There, rant over!
So, today my mum and step dad are coming to visit. I won't see much of them today as they're just dropping bags off and then going to watch a cricket match. But, we're going for a lovely lunch tomorrow with my brother and SIL, then up to Scotland on Saturday for a family party, so I've got a lovely weekend to look forward to, and the best thing is that my mum has paid for the flights and hotel... she's amazing like that.. so it won't cost a fortune.
I'm debating whether to go to the gym, and it's not looking likely at the mo. Perhaps I'll go a bit later... but I need to go to town to take some things back to the shops (although I could easily do that next week) and go to the place where DS is having his birthday party to sort the details out, (which actually won't take long) so maybe I'll go this afternoon. I think the gym membership is for the chop though, I'm not that committed to going even though I really enjoy it when I get there, and it's probably a treat I can't afford. Will think about it again and see whether it's worth continuing to pay. Fortunately there's no contract so I can cancel any time without penalty.
Right, I'd better get moving and do something exciting like the washing up..... living the high life as ever!:rotfl:

Way to go on the NSD! I think I failed my target miserably but I am going to claim it's just a timing issue :rotfl:

Well done on getting through most of your list and I cant get lemo drizzle cake out of my head now :o. Don't get me started on Income Support/Council/Tax Credits, my poor mum has gone back to work and tried to do everything properly and they have given her such a rough time that I can see why people don't go back to work!

What's the weather like in Wales at the moment? My boss went to Cardiff last weekend and said it was nice there when we had rubbish weather here!

    Have a good day x

    Hiya
It's been gorgeous here in Wales, so hot and sunny, it makes up for being out of work.. at least I can sit in the garden with a book. Have been meaning to post on your thread, I was thinking of joining you in the running challenge... maybe we could do it together? I'll pop over later and post :-)
You havea good day too x

Glad to hear you are getting nice weather there too! I think out of the three times i have been to Wales it rained all but one day out of 9 :rotfl: although I was there for Rally GB which was September so to be expected

I want to start walking soon but with it being so hot I hate exercising in it, just so muggy and uncomfortable but if I leave it till the Autumn I will only moan that its wet and dark, can't win!

Hope you have a good weekend :)

I'm back from my weekend in Scotland now, which was really lovely, although I'm a bit sleepy today! I managed not to spend too much money as well, which was a bonus! I'm looking forward to July now so I can start a new grocery challenge, which I absolutely will not fail this time!
I've just found out that I can get some funding for training as I'm unemployed, so am going to sign up for a Prince 2 Practitioner course. I have to pay 25% of the fee, which I can just about manage, and it's something that I've been thinking about doing for a while but not been able to afford, so I'm pleased that I've found out about the funding.
I've got another long list of things to do today, including doing DS's party invitations and sorting out another massive pile of clean washing. It's going to rain later in the week so I'll save my cleaning until then. I need to go into town one day too, as I've got some things I want to take back to the shops, but I'm not sure I can face it today, I'm really tired!
I tried to look at my budget earlier but for some reason the excel on my laptop has died or been corrupted or something so I can't open it. It's VERY annoying, not sure what I can do about it though.
I'll go and get my washing on the line now I think. I've pretty much got my meal plan sorted for the week - mostly salads as I've got stuff in the garden and could do with paying attention to my waistline! I also want to sort out how to manage the bits of money I need to put aside for car tax etc, rather than just muddling along and then being hit by a bill.

Hi Annie, glad to hear you had a cheap and pleasant weekend! The funding is great news, you might as well take the opportunity whilst you can.

Have you thought about trying to send the budget to another computer and see if you can open it there in case it is not just the document but the programme? Might not work but might be worth a try?

Well, how quickly things can change! I got a phone call last night from an agency I'd sent my CV to about a week ago or thereabouts, they wanted to know if I was interested in a temporary contract they have going. So, I went to see them at 9 this morning and filled in all the forms etc. The job sounds good, and it's great money, so fingers crossed I may be working again by next week. Phew!!! By the time I texted my friend to say they might contact her for a reference, they'd already phoned her. So, fingers and everything else crossed, and I can hopefully start saving again.
Other than that, I managed to do a shop yesterday for less that £12, I might need a couple of bits later on in the week but I'm still trying to empty the freezer and my mum brought salad and potatoes from her garden for me, so I'm hoping for a cheap week. Today I've spent £2.50 on parking at the employment agency, but you have to speculate to accumulate!
DS has his cookery club tomorrow and I've lost the recipe. He's doing flapjack, I know I've got all the ingredients he needs I just don't know what amount he'll need of each thing. It's times like this when I wish I had that gene that makes you organised and tidy and stuff, I get on my own nerves sometimes by being so scatty.
I've got some smoked makerel in the fridge that I'm looking forward to eating later with a nice slad and some boiled potatoes. In the meantime, I'm going to go and look in the car to see if that recipe's in there....

I really hope you got the job Annie, when will you hear for sure (if you haven't already?) :T

I don't have the tidy or organised gene either, I have an awesome memory for random and useless info but not for anything vaguely important :o

    Keep us updated :D

Thank you... I didn't hear anything today, so maybe tomorrow. Although I just had a massive panic when driving DS to cubs, he was talking about his birthday party which is on the first Sunday of the summer hols, and I've said that he can have 2 friends to sleep over after the party, then it hi me... OMG, what if I've got a job by then? What am I going to do with 3 ten year olds at 8 in the morning? I was just about to get myself al worked up and stressed to the hilt when I realised that I could.... ask for the day off!!! Phew, disaster averted. I won't have to turn down the job I haven't even been offered yet because of the party!
I've had an accidental NSD today, it wasn't planned, it just happened! I hardly slept lastnight, I was so hot, and had all sorts of things round in my head, so I was tired this morning. So, after DS went off to school I had a bit of a snooze, then watched the tennis... fab!
