A recruitment consultant just rang me about a job... he was clearly from London and had looked at my CV and thought 'oh good, she lives in Wales, she can do this job....' without considering that Wales is actually quite big. The job is in north Wales, a good 2.5 hour drive each way... what a wally!!
I'm still ploughing through the application form for the dream job, and have also come to the conclusion that if the only job I'm offered is in Devon I'll have to go.. DS will get used to it, and will have his grandparents near by as well as the beach etc... so we'll see what happens.
I really need to do some housework today, my kitchen is a bit bleurgh and the living room needs a hoover. So here I am typing away, reading threads and putting off what I need to be doing!
Right, I'm off to get my feather duster, the sooner I get started the sooner it'll be done etc etc....!!

Aaaggh, I've just been offered some temping work through till the end of August and am now in a blind panic!!! I haven't been to work since Feb - was off sick for ages before I left my job at the end of May, and now I'm in a flap!!
Ok... no need to panic... this is GOOD news!!! It wasn't the job I spoke to them about last week - that company wanted someone with commercial experience and mine's all public sector... but it's fine, sounds like a nice enough job and it's only short term so if it's awful it doesn't matter.
Ok, what do I wear.... what am I going to do with DS for he first week of the holidays... must remember to plan packed lunches... must get this application for a permanent job finished... erm... I think I'd better have a cup of tea and calm down!!!!!

Yayyyyyy, way to go Annie, thats fantastic news and I am sure you will be absolutely fine there :j

The Devon job sounds good as well, it's well worth going for it as you can always change your mind if you want to! I bet you didn't get round to much housework after your phone call did you :rotfl:

    When do you start?

Haha, I did no housework, although did do a pile of ironing that had been looking at me for at least a week!!
I just need them to confirm that it's all systems go, and all being well I'll start on Monday. I spoke to my childminder this evening... I'd given her notice for the end of term because I didn't think I'd find anything, and she's more than happy to keep him on, and will have him for a couple of days during the first week of the hols... it'll cost me a bit, but hey, I'll be earning!
I'll still apply for the 2 permanent ones, one here that would be awesome, and the one in Devon too, and we'll just see what happens. But, I'm so chuffed that I can get work (as long as it actually happens) as I was so desperately worried about being long term unemployed - I suffer with awful depression and being out of work isn't good for my state of mind.
Anyway, everything is crossed that I get the call tomorrow and can start on Monday. I'll spend tomorrow finishing off the form for one of the perm jobs. I've done a damn good job on it so far, if I say so myself.
It's amazing what a bit of good news can do, I feel great and full of hope :-)

:mad:And back down to earth with a bump. The agency called this morning, great news, they want you to start on Monday... then she said now, you haven't got any leave booked have you because they can't authorise any leave over the summer. I'd already told her twice that I've got a 2 week holiday booked in August, and when I said yes, I'm away for a fortnight, she said 'oh dear, we'll have to leave that then, they can't let you have any leave'. Soooo, back to square one. I'm a bit miffed because I'd already made it clear that I had this holiday booked, and actually said when speaking to her yesterday 'are they going to be ok with my holiday?' and she said oh yes I'm sure it'll be fine.
Hey ho, I'll keep on going, I'm just annoyed:mad::mad::mad:

Annie I am so sorry to hear what happened with the temp work, I hope you had a good moan at them after that fiasco! Sounds like they didn't listen to you at all

I have everything crossed for you that a new shiny job pops up for you very soon indeed, probably when you least expect it but well done for soldiering on, I know it must be hard.

Sending you hugs and job hunting fairy dust

I've calmed down now!! Had a busy (and annoyingly expensive) weekend with DS at home... he should have gone to his Dad's but he needed to swap, which really isn't a problem, we get on ok and I'm happy to be flexible with weekends swapping and changing, life works like that doesn't it? Anyway, we had the school summer barbecue on Friday night, which didn't cost me as much as it could have as he decided to kick a ball around with his mates instead of pestering me for money to spend on the tombola etc. It was actually a really nice evening. Then on Saturday there was a fun day at the community centre over the road, we took DS's friend who had forgotten his wallet so I ended up spending about £15 on the two of them on hotdogs, goes on games etc. However, DS's friend's mum then invited him out for the evening to watch the speedway, and paid for him as I'd paid for her son at the fun day, so it all evened itself out in the end!! He hada birthday party to go to on Sunday, so I had to buy a present for that.... I just seem to leak money at the moment!
I checked my bakn online this morning and realised that I'd been charged £49 for Amazon Prime - I'm not even sure what it is, something to do with the delivery charges I think. I remember saying yes to a trial of it when I ordered something a while ago, but didn't read the small print. Fortunately, I was able to cancel it and get the money refunded as I hadn't ordered anything since they'd taken the money. Phew!!! Moral of the story is to read what you're signing up for!!
I've so far had a NSD today, and also paid a nice cheque into the bank - a tax refund because my old work charged me basic rate for my last payment, so owed me £300. It's DS's birthday on Sunday and I have to pay for his party and get him a couple of bits, so I imagine that I'll make a large dent in that fairly swiftly.
Also, I've decided to apply for the job in Devon. It's a great opportunity and although moving would be difficult, it won't be the end of the world, and in the current climate there's no telling when another great job might come along. So, I'll pop my application in and see what happens.
I'm on a health kick too, so am mainly eating fruit, vegetables and meals based on pulses this week, which is nice and cheap!!
So that's me for now.... other than to say that I'm very disappointed that it's raining which means that he lawn will grow and therefore need mowing. Mowing the lawn is my least favourite chore. Honestly, I'd rather empty the hoover bag (which i did yesterday) that mow the grass. Maybe I should find a nice young man to do these jobs for me......?!!!

I've got to stop spending money.... I spent another £6 and pennies in Mr S today, on ice cream for DS (bogof) some juice, party biscuits for DS's cubs party tonight, and I think that's it. I've stopped counting, I've had such a terrible money month.
I got a letter from the tax office today, it turns out that if I'm still out of work next Thursday, which unless some miracle happens I will be, I can get some more tax back, so that's good news :T.
I haven't done anything constructive today, so tomorrow's to do list is a bit longer! I need to get DS's room sorted out as he's having friends to stay over after his birthday party on Sunday, and it's like a bomb site at the moment.
Oh... I did do something constructive, I made my weekly phone call to the Income Support office to see if they've made any progress in sorting out my claim. They haven't, but put a chaser on it for Friday so I may get some news then. The good news is that they didn't make me cry this week!!!
I really should get on with the application form for the job in Devon too........
