Has anyone used a current iPhone on Tesco Mobile? I know they offered really good deals, but don't know how their network is for internet etc. Both of my parents are on Tesco and have had no problems, but they only use PAYG simple phone, probably less than £10 a month, so they're not great guinee pigs for data usage.

I'd really like to know how Tesco iPhone customer have found them because this could be really good news for those of us hoping to get an iPhone 4.

    Thanks

Tesco use the O2 network so the data reliability will be the same as O2.

I was earlier assured, promised and guaranteed by Justin on the o2 live chat that the data cap only applies to the contract prices, and that Simplicity will retain unlimited data and wifi long AFTER the launch of the Iphone 4 on June 24th.

I didn't believe him as the website states otherwise but even when I sent him the links to the relevant tables and terms on the o2 website he still maintained that the data would be unlimited for 12 months on any Iphone Simplicity contract taken out anytime.

I made sure to e-mail myself a transcript of the chat as I am pretty sure I am going to be told otherwise come the time I phone to convert my current standard Simplicity contract to an Iphone one once the phone is launched.
Any chance you'd PM me or post the transcript. I'm relying on this assurance too when my current simplicity expires in August. Thanks

Y current one ends in august too and he told me if I change it to an Iphone one on 24th June they will write off the last 6weeks and I will then be eligible for renewal on June 24th 2011.

I'm not comfortable to post the whole transcript as it has my details and contract details in it but tomorrow I will select relevant bits and post them here.

Tesco are to sell the iphone 4 - No data capping either.....should be very competitive in price.

Dont forget you get clubcard points back too with Tesco

Tesco Small print says 500MB is considered fair use.

Would it be hard capped later is unknown

Get the sim now and the phone next week!!

The internet cap will then hit on your next renewal

    Depends on the pricing..

May be cheaper overall to take the 500MB limit and pay the extra £5 a month depending on what the PAYG differential is.

The iPhone 4 is now showing up as delivery by 2 July(rather than 24 June earlier today) on the apple site.

I just noticed that. I reserved one for instore collection but wondering whether I should have just ordered one online for delivery now. Anyway, no big deal if I have to travel to the store to pick it up.

I'm hoping that Tesco will announce that the 32GB is on PAYG for £549 - less 10% staff discount and I'll very happy! I don't mind if it's locked as I'm on O2 Simplicity anyway.

Not sure that will work - I think you have to have a Tesco sim rather than an O2 sim. They piggyback the network, but have their own sims. You might want to check that before buying.....

I use the 3GS on Tesco PAYG and like someone said, it piggybacks the O2 network so coverage is fine

The best bit about Tesco though, aside from getting Clubcard points when you buy the phone and when you top up, is that when you top up, Tesco triple the credit. So top up £10 and £30 is credited to your phone. The free credit gets used first, so I find I only need to top up £10 every couple of months. Much cheaper to run than my old Orange Dolphin tariff with a carp phone!

I've registered to get launch info from Tesco so will wait to see what they say.

I bought my iPhone 3GS from Tesco which was O2 locked. I put my O2 sim in it and it worked fine. I will double check but all other Tesco Mobile phones are either locked to O2 or unlocked so I don't see a problem.

I think unlike other MVNO, Tesco is just part of O2 in terms of the technical setup (rather than the ownership). A Tesco sim in the iPhone shows up as O2 and not Tesco. With my O2 sim in my temporary Android phone, it asked me if I was an O2 pay monthly, O2 contract or a Tesco mobile customer.
