A few months back I had the police banging on my door /ringing doorbell at 1am to ask if we knew anything about the neighbours upstairs!

Apparently someone had made a complaint about the noise - that someone was neither my husband or I so I was less than impressed with their tactics.

Regardless of what I think, its common courtesy, something the police could do with a lesson in.

This bloke they were looking for hadn't lived at that address for 3 years before us, the people in the flat above us were on holiday at the time and it took us ages to convince the police that there was nobody in upstairs, they were ready to knock the door in.

I know they have to deal with some horrible people, but they shouldn't treat the rest of us like them.

I do hope you made a formal complaint about this, because if you don't then you are condoning it.

police amaze me,we had the opposite.my brother was found dead in his house in dec last year,no next of kin listed except his friend.he hadnt put myself or parents down for some reason?they went to said friends house,he gave them parents address and phone number so they could go there.two days later another close friend of my bro went to parents house to pay respects and they didnt even know he was dead and rang the police who then decided to attend to apologise.they were distraught the fact that it looked like nobody cared and he had been lying in a morgue for 2 days.how long would they have left it before coming round?when i contacted the coroner he said they were going to put ad in paper asking for relatives.what would that have done to my parents? was bad enough finding out the way they did.just for the record i had only spoken to him day before he die and he was fine, mum had seen him 2 days before so we were in regular contact, its not as though he was estranged.

To anyone who is treated this way, there is no excuse for public servant to treat members of the public to this standard.
